"Claret is a well presented lodge with excellent facilities in almost every way, the only caveat to other travellers would be that the site is next to quite a busy road which can be disturbing."
So if you want peace and quite it's not for you.

"Certainly gave the appearance of luxury when we first arrived however there were a few things that need addressing to earn the title ‘luxury lodge’."
The hot tub is not regulated by staff during your stay. Instead, testing strips are provided and you are expected to do it yourself. Our tub was cold on arrival and didn’t heat up until the next day so that was out. On the third day it smelt funny. Someone came the next day and drained it. When we got back from our day out it was too cold to use as no one had switched on the heat. It didn’t heat up until the next day. On our penultimate day the same thing happened again. It was past 5pm so the office was closed. We left the next day only having used the hot tub for half the time.
Others have warned about the green lights in all night in the bedrooms. It’s true! Also the curtains could do with being heavier. Our three year old was up with the sun most days. Also the doors slam shut and it gets very hot. There are outside doors that open but we didn’t want to leave those open all night due to the rat.
Sadly, there was a nest of rats by the end of the property near claret and muscat. I don’t want to blame the site for this - it’s the countryside and these things happen. I hope they will be swift to act after my phone message informing them.
The septic tank was a little stinky and ruined any outside aperitifs. I would suggested choosing the pods higher up the hill. They were away from the tanks.
Also the details on Sykes were wrong for the managing company. We couldn’t get in to begin with and called the number. It was someone who was done managing the pods and gave us the owner’s number. He was a little surprised but helpful.
Other than that it was nice. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen.

"I would recommend the owners to get some new cleaners, they are not very good!"
!! The lodge itself is very nice but not very clean, both my daughter and I hate spiders but from the minute we walked in there was x3 in one shower and x2 in the other in big webs. A lot of cobwebs all over the lodge that look like they have been there for quite some time. The sinks in the bathroom are useless, it is impossible to even wash your hands without flooding the floor, let alone your face.

"An amazing place to stay, one of 10 in a well set out small site."
Even though near the road very quiet. Handy pub and gin distillery at the top of the site and and easy 15 minute walk to the sea.

"As many others have said in their reviews, that green emergency exit lights in the bedroom are ridiculous."
But other than that we found Claret absolutely perfect. Very clean and lovely area and well maintained grounds.
Would have liked to have been left more than 1 toilet roll in each bathroom and we had to buy our own bottle opener but these are minor things
Thank you for a fantastic stay .

"Claret was exactly as pictured but better."
We had the best stay, everything you would have needed was in there. The hot tub was wonderful and the outside area to sit in the sun was divine. Thankyou!

A very lovely lodge in nice surroundings. The Mermaid Gin distillery and pub on the door step with good food and drink. Can’t wait to come back. I would highly recommend this place. Mrs T Mitchell.

"Our lodge at 'The Vineyard' lived up to expectation."
'Claret' was very comfortable, well equipped & provided an excellent base for us to explore the IOW. The welcome groceries (milk, bottled water, tea/coffee biscuits & cruet)were appreciated. The hot tub was an excellent facility to relax in at the end of tge day & the convenience of having the Mermaid Bar on our doorstep was an added bonus. Mel & Jon were efficient & welcoming & provide an excellent customer service.

"We were delighted with our stay at the property."
We found the lodge to be very comfortable and it was really clean and tidy and very convenient for travelling about the island. The outlook from our lodge was delightful and very scenic.
One downside were the very tiny sinks in the bathrooms which made it impossible to wash comfortably. We also had a small problem with the refrigerator in the kitchen due to it not being cleaned from the previous occupants as there was rancid milk in the salad drawer and sitting on the bottom shelf.
We were very lucky with the weather and were able to fill our week with visiting plenty of interesting places. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

Although we have stayed at this location before hence we rebooked we were disappointed that the garden furniture was covered in bird droppings and cobwebs so obviously not cleaned in ages so couldn’t use it had to buy chairs to sit outside also we couldn’t use the hot-tub on the first day as wasn’t hot found getting key code etc on arrival we had to do all the messaging and chasing to get in not helpful at all then maintenance came round mid week with no warning as we were napping and started do stuff when we were lying there totally unacceptable

"The basins in the bathrooms are ridiculous- extremely poor choice/design by the developer."
It is impossible to wash or brush teeth in them without messing over the floor. The double bed mattress was quite soft. The emergency exit LED in the bedroom is too bright at night. The outside bedroom door has no window, and, what with the self-closing inside bedroom door, there is no fresh air in the bedroom. The outside furniture had not been cleared of cobwebs for our arrival. Apart from the above criticisms, the dining and lounge furniture is good, and the kitchen facilities are very good.

"Lovely stay beautiful location."
On arriving we were pleased with the accommodation. Had the cleanliness been to a higher standard and a hoover provided the place would have been virtually un-faultable. Above that we had a lovely week and the hot tub was great after a day exploring the Isle of Wight.

"We had a lovely stay here and in many ways feel that it deserved a 4 star rating but for a few relatively small niggles."
...
1. The road was very close and quite noisy/busy.
2. The fire doors, though necessary, need looking at as they are hard to open and shut very forcibly/quickly.
3. The outside furniture is rather rusty (perhaps should have covers).
4. Outside sweeping brush would be useful to clear leaves etc.

"PRO'S: Claret Lodge was beautiful and perfect for a small group."
It was very clean inside and the beds were comfortable. The hot tub was excellent and the combi boiler meant we always had hot water on demand. The TV had a good signal and internet signal was strong too. Overall the lodge itself lived up to expectation and we were happy with our stay.
CONS:
- there is a very noisy road at the back of the lodges which starts to get busy by 6am and as the bedrooms face this road as well as the hot tub, it wasnt as peaceful as we had hoped and we did not get to sleep in past 6am due to the traffic noise.
- the sofa is very small and uncomfortable unfortunately. An L shaped sofa or recliners would have been better in this lodge to maximise comfort.
- it would have been nice to have a larger fridge freezer. As this is self catering accommodation and with only 2 shelves and an icebox it meant we had to go to food shop everyday. There is a grey sideboard by the dining table which doesnt really serve a purpose and a 50/50 full size fridge freezer would fit there nicely.

"Fantastic weeks holiday at the Vineyard eco lodges."
Brand new for 2022 and perfect for a group of 4 adults. Immaculate throughout and furnished to a very high standard with everything needed for self catering. Lovely welcome pack with essential items waiting on arrival. Hot tubs excellent. Every member of the team we met was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the island. Great location with views across the vineyard, a 15 minute walk down to the beach and a nice location for exploring the island by car. Ryde and Seaview a walkable distance along the waterfront with cafes and pubs along the way.
