We are expecting 100% of our £624 fee and petrol money to be returned, as we drove all the way from Cornwall for a 4 day holiday at Goodwood Annexe Caravan, Chichester; that was so dirty, we should have left the moment we arrived.

The condition of the property was not as shown on the Sykes website photographs, that aided us to choose our holiday. My 85 yr old mother was so tired after the long journey, we had to sleep over, and left 1st thing in the morning. Alexandra from Sykes, advised Mr Green to refund 3 days rental price, less their commission = £429, and he would still make a profit from this booking; because if the guest was unwell they could claim from insurance, (that we didn't have...we said Mother was unwell upon leaving because we don't like arguments or the filthy state of the caravan). The caravan felt as though someone who had been living in it for some time had only just left, as there were cobwebs and leaves all over the outside and unfinished planting pots, compost bags, old cardboard boxes and furniture on the deck. Blood splattered up the internal wall and furniture, violent damage to the doors, no shower curtain, sticky surfaces, the linen on the beds felt unclean and were unironed, the towels made us feel like we did not want to use them. One bedroom TV not working. There were dog hairs on the carpets, dirty glasses and plates, old food under chairs, spiders and webs everywhere...yes, this was a nightmare!!! We thankfully returned to our clean home in Cornwall... and we are still waiting for our 4 day holiday and petrol money. Note to Mr Green... Have you thought about cleaning your own caravan as well !!! Your rental caravan is a palace, compared to your own living conditions. We wish you and your wife good health soon.

We were welcomed with a nice warm lodge, clean and tidy, a lovely welcome pack of bubbly and chocolates and personalised sign, the site was great.

We were there for a week with our 2 dogs, who loved it also, safe to let them on the deck without the worry of them doing a runner. To top it all there was a great TV with great films so we didn't fee; the need to go out, the cooking facilities lacked a microwave but gained an airfryer, to be honest we didn't need the microwave. We are looking forward to returning later in the year. Many thanks to the owners, good value for money.

We arrived for the 1500hr check-in to find the patio doors open and the owner still busy inside.

The dishwasher and washing machine were partway through their cycle and the owner departed to purchase mould remover for the bathroom. He returned with wine, chocs and strawberries which was very kind of him. However, he left with the washing machine and dishwasher still going. We then noticed that the lounge and both bedroom doors had been damaged in what appeared to be a fight, with one bedroom door sealed shut. The lounge carpets were dirty with crumbs and hairs and all surfaces were very dusty. The kitchen floor and table were also dirty with dust, hairs and crumbs with greasy surfaces. There was a lack of cutlery, crockery and drinking vessels and the sink and taps were loose and unclean, with plates etc still on the drainage tray. It was so awful that I vacuumed the entire place myself and attempted to remove the grime from bedside tables and worktops. Despite this, our friends who arrived later noticed immediately how grubby the whole place was - very embarrassing for myself as I organised this break for everyone. The bedrooms and bathrooms were also filthy and strongly reeked of cigarette smoke, with aged pillows and mismatched bed linen in one of the rooms and a blocked toilet in the other. The smell when in bed was so bad that we left the next day. The 'double' beds were also 2 single mattresses held together by a double fitted sheet which came partially off in the night and the mattresses separated to leave an annoying gap. One of the beds had spiders in it which appeared when the duvet was turned back. I spent most of the night on the settee in the lounge. This 3 day stay cost us £939 and it was terrible - I don't know how it has a 3 star rating. The owner needs to get the entire place professionally deep-cleaned and dispose of all the pillows and probably mattresses, which we didn't dare look at. And properly stock the kitchen and clean and tidy all the drawers and cupboards. And sort the doors and fix the toilet. There was also a lack of smoke alarms.
