Clean and well equipped.

It's was larger than we thought it would be for such a good price. The garden was beautiful . The owners are very friendly. Lovely location , very peaceful. We would recommend a stay .

Beautiful place to stay!

Lovely bedrooms and plenty of places to sit and eat. Sitting outside in the morning was very relaxing, we enjoyed our breakfast outside watching the birds. Very peaceful place to stay. All places to eat and visit were only a short drive away.

Beautiful garden, good sized rooms and excellent location for local walks.

Kitchen was well laid out and had the basic equipment for cooking. The living area is spacious. I think the property could do with a bit of fresh investment e.g. the kitchen lino floor is fitted badly, some bedroom furniture needs repairing and the TV is eccentric. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the property.

Lower Court Byre is a real gem of a property.

It sits in a beautiful, secluded garden, replete with small bridge over the sizeable pond and a fountain. The house is lovely, really good sized rooms, incredibly well equipped kitchen and spacious siting room and dining area. It really is a home from home and the owners had made a fabulous lemon cake, which was sitting on the kitchen table for us on arrival. Would have no hesitation in going back.

This was our second visit to Lower Byre Court and we’ll be back again.

This is a most tranquil and relaxing place. It’s holiday HOME. Not new but very comfortable with absolutely everything you need. The garden is fantastic and set in a stunning landscape. Nearby is the Riverside Inn, expensive but with amazing food. Would recommend the whole experience to anyone.

Very clean and comfortable with a beautiful garden. Hosts very helpful and we were able to lock up our bikes which was a real bonus. Lovely towels and linen. House was lovely and warm and although the fire was ready to light we didn't need it. Nice area for cycling and walking - only wish we had had more time.

A spacious and comfortable cottage, but the best bit is the beautiful and restful garden.

We were very lucky with the weather and it was always a joy after being out to come back to the property and sit in the garden. Also, very friendly and helpful owners.

Lower Court Byre is in a beautiful situation, had everything we needed, and had an inspirational garden.

Theresa, the host, was very helpful and efficient - there had been a couple of issues identified by the guests staying just before us, which she had resolved by our second day. There was nothing we could fault about this property and in fact we thought the pictures online didn't quite do it justice! The cottage is a perfect retreat if you want to get away from it all and enjoy rural life.

Mr.

& Mrs. Jones were very friendly hosts, and the cottage and its gardens were delightful. It's a good base for exploring the area, and you can walk from the cottage into the fields and along the River Lugg. The only slight downside for us, which will not affect most people - my partner is elderly and rather infirm and found the stairs a bit challenging.

We have had a lovely week in a very lovely cottage with the most fantastic garden.

The cottage was very comfortable with comfy beds and furniture......and all you might need was provided. Such peaceful surroundings and we were even lucky enough to get loads of photos of a kingfisher sitting on the bridge. During all my years all I've ever seen of a kingfisher was a flash of blue so to actually capture (photo) that little chap just sitting on the bridge was amazing and one to cross off my bucket list now. We did have a problem with the internet/tv which wasn't the fault of the owners and Theresa really did go the extra mile to get it all working. Thank you for that.....you are a star. Thank you also for the tea/coffee and milk ........and the delicious lemon drizzle cake. We won't hesitate to book again if we're visiting the area and I can honestly recommend this beautiful place to everybody. Lovely family and lovely cottage and garden. Thank you. xxx

This is a fantastic cottage made superb by the garden in lovely weather.

For anyone who’s visited Monet’s garden in Giverny, the flowering wisteria over the bridge here is so reminiscent of it. The owners have provided everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The locality is quiet but Ludlow was great as well as our trip to Malvern. We’ve already booked again for next year. Thanks also for the wonderful, home made welcome cake.

One of the best cottages we have stayed in.

We received a warm, friendly welcome from the owner (this included some delicious cake!) The cottage is spacious,cosy and comfortable with excellent amenities set in the most beautiful surroundings and a lovely peaceful garden. An ideal location for walking, cycling, birdwatching or visiting some pretty black and white villages. An ideal place to stay if you want to switch off from the stresses and strains of life.

From the road, it is non-descript but inside is well equipped and the garden( with fountain) was very well maintained. Owner was very pleasant and quick to respond to any issues. You get used to the creaking floor especially on the upper floor. It shows the age of the original building. Very pleasant stay.

Beautiful and very comfortable cottage in a lovely setting, with a most delightful garden visited by a variety of birds - treecreepers, bullfinch and great spotted woodpecker amongst them - together with a very generous and helpful host.

We had such a lovely time at Lower Court Byre.

The daytime October weather was kind & we spent early evenings in the amazing garden just sipping wine & watching the birds & dragonflies as the sun went down. There was plenty to do in the area during the days, Hereford, Leominster & Hay-on-Wye were in easy reach as well as castles & churches etc. Our nights were spent in the cozy living room relaxing by the fire which was really well stocked with logs. The cottage itself had everything we needed & it was sad to wave it goodbye.

The cottage was just as described, really lovely, comfortable and well equipped with a fabulous garden.

We had a very relaxing stay and really enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the setting. The bird life in the garden was very diverse and we even caught fleeting glimpses of the elusive Kingfisher. Thank you.

Very nice cottage with plenty of room and beautiful garden.

The beds are comfortable and the shower had great pressure. It was a very nice touch that the owner provided tea, coffee and milk as we arrived very late. Would definitely stay again.

A superb cottage with the added enjoyment of a fabulous garden complete with pond and fountain.

Varied wildlife spotted in the garden which included a Kingfisher, Woodpecker, Hedgehog, Pheasants plus many small birds which was absolutely delightful. We have enjoyed our second visit to Lower Court Byre and look forward to revisiting in the future.

We have just returned from a great week at Lower Byre Cottage.

It was clean, comfortable and bright. The garden was superb and if only we had the weather then we would have spent many happy hours in all different parts of the garden. A lemon cake and pint of milk was awaiting us on arrival and the owner Theresa and her mother Monica were lovely.

We have recently returned from a wonderful week at this beautiful cottage.

Very spacious and well appointed. We particularly liked the large colourful garden where we spent many hours reading, relaxing and listening to the birdsong and fountain. Very fortunate with the weather, mid 20s and sunny, so didn't do as much sightseeing as planned. The cottage is in a very quiet and rural area, but daily supplies are available in nearby Presteigne. Owners very welcoming and friendly - many thanks for the delicious cake! We will definitely return. Highly recommended. 10/10 Kathleen

The perfect cottage.

Idyllic garden, absolutely stunning. Everything we could have wished for - and more. I can't think of anything which let it down! Wonderful scenery and walks from the door. Nearby Prestigne has all necessary shops. Delightful owners. We felt SO lucky to have spent time here.

We liked everything about this quaint but well modernised property and its beautiful rural setting and Monet-inspired pond.

When not exploring we enjoyed sitting on the patio or in the small conservatory if the weather allowed, otherwise in comfy seats in the spacious sitting room . The downstairs shower room with toilet, was small but saved journeys upstairs during the day; the beds were comfortable and the heating efficient; whats not to ❤ !

Lower Court Byre was the best cottage we've ever stayed in.

When we went out we couldn't wait to get back, to watch the wildlife in the garden. We couldn't believe that such a lovely, large, old building could be so warm and cosy. We slept like logs in the lovely, comfortable beds. Every thought had been given to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

A beautiful old property with the added bonus of a magical garden full of wildlife.

The house welcomes you and makes you feel at home. It is a quiet rural property with just the sounds of country living around you. The owners are most welcoming, not intrusive but available if needed.

This is located in a tranquil, rural spot but is only a short drive from some great attractions, walks and super eateries.

The house has some lovely old features but is centrally heated and has all the creature comforts one needs. The stunning gardens with large pond (+ fountain!) are quite breathtaking and one could spend all the time simply enjoying these.

We had a wonderful week staying at this very special cottage for the second time.

The location is so beautiful and the garden is magical…we loved coming home and sitting in the garden listening to the bird song. The area is great for walkers and nature lovers with many little towns and villages which are worth exploring . Highly recommended.

Beautiful cottage with a superb garden.

The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. Everything was very high quality and we enjoyed the walks in the fields and the lake nearby. The pond and the bridge in the garden was amazing and fortunately we had some lovely weather for our stay. We spent hours lazing around in the garden with the fountain running. In the evening the house, including the kitchen and sitting room were very cosy with lots of things to do for all 4 of us. Amazing place and I would recommend highly to others.

Well presented, charming and very comfortable to the highest standard. We enjoyed our stay and have re-booked for 2024 already. The wildlife in the garden is a delight to observe. We give this property 10 out of 10.

The cottage was lovely it’s the best one we have stayed in so cosy and quiet we couldn’t fault it.The landlady Theresa was so friendly and very helpful and her lemon drizzle cake was delicious.The pond was lovely we had ducks on it and the different types of birds were lovely to watch we had a squirrel which we kept putting nuts out for and I heard an owl one night which I love.I would recommend this cottage to anyone we didn’t want to go home it was sad to leave but we took plenty of photos to remind us of a brilliant week at the cottage and the castles we visited thanks again for making our holiday so perfect best wishes Amanda and Mark

The owners were really friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Plenty to do within easy driving distance. Couldn't ask for more.

Accomodation of a very high standard, comfortable, very well equipped, with a splendid garden, all in quiet and rural location.

The Byre is idyllic.

Especially recommended for bird watchers; we saw nuthatch, green woodpecker, great tit... too many to mention. Waking up to look at the beautiful bridged pond and see a pheasant walking in front of the kitchen window was a highlight. It’s beautifully quiet too, and the skies are properly dark at night. Simply wonderful stay, with great owners who were friendly but left us to our own space (and a lovely lemon drizzle cake). We'll rebook for sure.

The grounds were stunning and the cottage was extremely clean and comfortable. From start to finish we all felt at home and cared for with small details such as a home made cake left for us and we had a lovely chat with Monica who came to check all was ok. We would recommend the cottage to anyone looking for a slice of stunning serenity.

A peaceful, idyllic cottage exactly as the photographs show. If you like the peace and quiet and some small wildlife characters with a red squirrel, woodpecker and smalls birds then this is the place for you. The owners are really lovely and the lemon cake was delicious. Thankyou so much. We are looking forward to coming back.

We had a fantastic time at the cottage, it was well equipped and clean.

My 12 year old daughter was really impressed with the cosy chair and book's in the room she was in. The garden was stunning, the hosts were lovely and on hand if needed but not intrusive. Lovely places to vist around the area, or just chilling at the cottage, hopefully we will return.

Quality shines throughout the byre. For bird lovers it is truly excellent with the usual sparrows and assorted tits. There is also a tree creeper, woodpecker and the star of the show is the kingfisher who appears early every morning! Heartily recommended property!

A real "get away from it all" cottage - in a secluded spot in a tiny village, & with a wonderful garden. The cottage was very comfortable & well equipped with spacious rooms & a real log fire.

We spent 2 weeks in this beautiful cottage.

The photos don’t do it justice. Everything you could want is provided and Trevor, Theresa and Monica are always available if needed. The garden is beautiful full of lovely scented flowers and a huge pond with 2 bridges over it and a fountain. There is also a summerhouse in the garden. It is ideally placed for exploring the black and white trail and also close to Ludlow and Hereford. Over all this is the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in and if we could have given it 6 stars we would have

A lovely, beautifully clean, comfortable cottage, set in a large tranquil garden full of bird song.

The local area is very quiet, but with some good pubs and is great for cyclists and walkers, but be prepared to put effort in on the hills! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to book again.

We were lucky enough to see the elusive kingfisher and the greater spotted woodpecker. We would love to return as soon as we can and would thoroughly recommend the property and hosts.

A very friendly welcome from the owners, which included a lovely fruitcake and they were kind enough to put up a Christmas tree for us as we were staying there over the Christmas holidays.

We thought the cottage was delightful, well equipped, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed having an open fire over the Christmas holidays and although the weather wasn’t brilliant we did manage to see some of the beautiful countryside. We would love to visit again in the Spring or Summer.

A very comfortable cottage in a peaceful location, although the track to the cottage was full of potholes and very muddy.

Farmer also decided to cut the hedges which left thorny branches on the track and having just bought a new car was of concern as we didn't want to get a puncture. My husband spent time picking these up and throwing back in to the hedgerow!

The cottage was in a beautiful location and allowed us to relax surrounded by quietness.

Our welcome was warm, yet unobtrusive. All facilities needed could be found in the cottage. The area has plenty to do, which meant that we had busy days, and we were able to relax in the stunning garden at the end of the day. We would thoroughly recommend the cottage.

The character of the cottage and the garden plus the wild life make this an excellent holiday property.

If you want peace and quiet this is the place to be. Excellent facilities and a good internet connection. Just a word of caution,whilst the stair case is integral part of the character it requires great care if you have mobility issues, the steps are well polished and seem to slope slightly.

I cannot recommend Lower Court Byre highly enough, is the most comfortable cottage we have ever stayed in.

It was spotlessly clean and really well equipped. All the rooms are large and airy, super comfortable furniture in the lounge and the beds were fabulous. There is a good sized fridge in the kitchen and a 3 drawer freezer and washing machine in the utility room. We went with our grandchildren aged 6 and 7 and found the garden and grounds absolutely perfect for them to play in. There are birds galore and a kingfisher fishing from the bridge over the pond in the morning was breathtaking. The owners were both really friendly and kind and a pleasure to chat with. Thank youTrevor and Monica. Just one little thought, a blind or curtain for the arched kitchen window would be nice, give that bit more privacy. But that’s only one tiny comment and in no way would it stop us returning.

Lovely old, atmospheric, cottage with an even lovelier garden!

The variety of plants in the garden competes with a castle walled garden! We spent hours watching the birds, fish and dragonflies, and relaxed completely in the beautiful surroundings. Garden was laid out in a way, with bushes and trees, with lawn in between, that the children played hide-and-seek for hours. Owner was extremely friendly, giving us ideas for family trips and good restaurants, and brought a lemon drizzle cake on arrival at the cottage! The house is well maintained and contained everything we could possibly have needed: storage space, comfortable beds, bedding, kitchen appliances, puzzles, table tennis, DVDs, lovely sized bath, conservatory and separate shower room! We felt so at home, but the attention to detail made it feel like a hotel holiday. Huge compliment to the owner. We visited lots of National Trust sites but also larger towns like Hereford or Shrewsbury, and the scenery whilst driving was breathtaking. We hiked in the area too, and further afield in the Brecon Beacons. The beauty of this area, the wildlife, the owner's welcome and support, the cottage and garden, the historical locations, and the river all contributed to one of the most relaxing but stimulating holidays (with three children under 12 years of age! ) for years! We would love to come back, and the memories will remain a lifetime.

Visits to Berrington Hall & Croft Castle (Both National Trust) also Hereford Cathedral. Lovely countryside and timbered buildings. Would recommend this gorgeous cottage.

Absolutely stunning. Was a perfect escape, we had everything we wanted and it was just so idyllic, I was proud to call it my home for the week. The cottage and gardens were stunning.

We completely relaxed and lost whole hours just sat watching the wildlife! A beautiful oasis and a place we hope to return to.

We arrived in snow which was unexpected and meant we didn’t go out much after arrival.

However, the owners were lovely, they helped us out on that first night by collecting some shopping, that was just wonderful, we should have been better planned but the weather caught us off-guard. On that first night we were mesmerised by the snow falling into the fountain, we loved the fountain on the frozen pond. The house was cozy yet spacious. The beams are beautiful. The lights and many windows made the very old building feel bright and open. Perfect balance of old and new. The surrounding countryside is breathtaking. We felt like we build friendships during the week, and would love to return soon.

Very important to us was a very warm welcome by the owners who provided a wonderful home made cake. We were there in early December 2017 when the snow storm blocked us in. We were supported and when it was time to go dug out by the owners tractor. Simply a great place to escape the business of life

Our hosts Monica and Theresa were charming and friendly.

They really made us feel at home. Lovely touches included a cake on arrival and also plenty of bird food so that we had wonderful bird life in the garden. And the garden and pond are really lovely. Beautifully maintained and interesting. The kids played happily in it and we also enjoyed meals al fresco. Plenty of wildlife too. We saw rabbits and a hedgehog! We would love to return there one day.

Lower Court Byre is not showy but quite simply a place of great beauty and warmth.

The lovely garden, inspired by Claude Monet's Garden at Giverny, is a place of quiet refreshment, and is, indeed, a place difficult to leave. We were thrilled to see woodpeckers and a heron by the lake. The birds are so used to human beings they come to the feeding station when one is only a few yards away at the picnic table. The house is well thought-out and carefully arranged. eg. There is a hand towel in both toilets, obviating the need to traipse around finding one and the fire was a dream to light, to tend and to enjoy. We were welcomed by a whole and magnificent lemon cake and a more than helpful family who were really pleased to offer advice about the kind of things we might enjoy. The place and their whole attitude conspired to make this one of the most regenerative holidays we have ever enjoyed. We think this was partly because we did not feel like tenants but welcome visitors.

Lower Court Byre cottage and garden are amazing, the cottage so spacious and comfortable, the garden absolutely beautiful, full of interest and little surprises.

Our initial thoughts whilst being so warmly welcomed and shown around by Theresa and Trevor were- a week is far too short a time to stay in this lovely place! Everything was faultless! Unfortunately our week was cut short due to bad health, Monica could not have been more helpful, also, her cakes are truly delicious! It is top of our list to return as soon as is possible. This is by far the best holiday let we have booked.

The cottage is superb and the garden is truly amazing. We are pensioners and my only note of caution is to be careful on the stairs. You could not have better facilities and the owners could not have been more helpful. Lovely people.

The surroundings and the people near by were all marvellous.

The cottage turned out to be exceptionally clean, cosy, well thought out, there was everything provided that we would need.

I was so shocked to see a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and other festive decorations, in addition to a homemade cake. What a welcome, and such friendly, warm people. I will certainly return and am so pleased to have found this home away from home. Thank you for this amazing listing.

The cottage was lovely and clean and had everything we needed.

The gardens were beautifully kept and we loved the fountain. A cake on arrival and friendly welcome were appreciated!

The garden is amazing and the owners were lovely. There was cake on arrival and they let us pick apples and plums from the orchard. Lovely traditional features with modern comforts. Lots to do in the area within 1/2 hour drive and plenty walks from the doorstep. Will definitely be back.

The owners were very pleasant and helpful and the cake mrs jones baked was very welcome! I would recommend it to everybody and we would hope to go back again in the future.
