What guests are saying
We arrived at the coach house and first impressions were disappointing.
Planters on each side of the cottage with dead plants in. Once in the cottage the sofa and chair dirty, mould all round the bath, cobwebs round ALL light fittings, dirty oven. No basic condiments , no hand soap in the bathroom. We bought with us toilet roll and wipes for counter tops after cooking to find out that on a poster on the wall that eco toilet roll, eco washing up liquid, eco surface spray had to be used ( would be nice if this information would have been given in advance). We tried to get those products from 2 supermarkets locally but not available. Shared laundry facilities were advertised with the cottages. I went to the laundry room 7th june to use it and the machine was full of washing( not from either cottage but owners washing) and the laundry room looked like a jumble sale. Went again on Monday 8th June still the same washing in the machine then again Tuesday 9th still the same. The owner came over to see us and asked if everything was to our liking. We said to her about all the issues above and she said oh I must have forgot about the washing in the machine then said I will bring you a toilet roll but no apologies. We then told her we were leaving early because off all the issues and she just walked away.
Bed comfy and shower good but mould around bath.
Also good size fridge and freezer which I think needs emphasis as in the past we’ve been caught out by bringing food only to find nowhere to keep it. Toilet bowl stained with heavy limescale. Oven filthy! I have pics but not sure how to attach. Misleading as in didn’t say property is in owner’s front garden with adjoins rental with paper thin walls! Even heard someone clearing their throat and spitting!!! Also property smelt vile….window putty smell. Mentioned ton owner who agreed but did nothing about it. Said she’d ask cleaner but didn’t bother to get back to us. Also sofa and chair need a good clean. Especially the chair which I didn’t want to sit on.
The coach house is a lovely little cottage set in a lovely area and walking distance to the local village where we had a nice meal and got daily essentials needed at the village shop.
The highlight of the village is definitely the Tandem tearooms which serves delicious breakfast/brunch. The coach house had everything we needed and anything I asked was replied to immediately. Check in was so easy and everything needed was at the accommodation (towels, tea towels, washing up bits, toilet rolls, bedding and all self catering facilities). Tracy who owns the horses in the stables was very friendly and helpful with anything we asked and the horses were lovey to see each day and very well looked after. Lovely accommodation and would recommend.
