What guests are saying
The accommodation was good and we enjoyed our stay but was a bit disturbed with some insects flying whilst due.
Slight fumigation of the surroundings would be good. Having a smart TV will also be a good idea for the accommodation.
Accommodation is in a good location, short 30 min walk or 10 min bus from the pier.
It’s also close to some coastal paths and near Fort Victoria Country Park. The cottage itself is close to the entrance and the parking lot. When we arrived, we had trouble locating the accommodation. I’d recommend that a whole welcome package is sent once the booking is confirmed so that guests can review it before they travel. This should include how to get to the cottage. It is evident that there has been some wear and tear on the house. When we arrived, the inner doorknob on the master bedroom was already broken. The mattresses in both rooms aren’t comfortable and you could feel the springs when you lie down, so we had trouble sleeping. The pillows as mentioned in the reviews were also too thin and must be replaced. It also didn’t have a dishwasher, which I hope they could install one. I hope they address and upgrade as there is good potential. We also had to figure out how things work in the house (how to turn on the lamps, how to turn on the light in the bathroom by opening the isolator switch, how to properly lock the sliding door). I hope there are details of how things work in the welcome pack. Only on night 2 did I discover that the welcome pack was under the coffee table, which would have been helpful if I saw earlier. It had good local and personal recommendations, which would have been helpful to do on day 2. I also had to confirm a couple things that I had needed to bring and buy, would be helpful if those were detailed. Liz was very responsive and helpful with all of my questions. All in all, it was a good house in a good location, but needs an upgrade.
A lovely stay in very clean, well equipped and comfortable accommodation.
A perfect base to visit all the fabulous places Isle of Wight has to offer. Gorgeous walk in Victoria Country Park nearby with beautiful views. The Boathouse Cafe was within walking distance too which offered a varied menu of delicious food and very friendly, welcoming staff. We will definitely be back. First time visiting Isle of Wight and we can’t wait to return. Thank you Sykes for making sure our accommodation was perfect too.
