Sail Loft

NEED EXTRA TEA TOWL NEED EXTRA POWER IN SHOWER

Great beach front location, however in late August we were bitten lots by midges.

Flat is in the loft, which we also should have realised meant it'd be hot and stuffy, we couldn't open the windows because of the midges. This was our mistake when booking. Also reduced head room in many areas, the furniture has been rearranged since the photos were taken, making head banging more likely. More than 4 items of each cutlery (knife, fork etc) would be useful. No welcome pack or info about the area, including local shops which meant we were fumbling with Google after a long day travelling. Neighbouring cafe only open during the day, so didn't bother us with noise, but caused challenges for parking when open. Septic tank was also rather whiffy. Firm beds, small fridge, no cleaning products, other than washing up liquid. No towels which I only realised when the owner called about key collection.

This place has a fantastic view, and seemed the best option to us from all 7 apartments that make up the boat house.

Plenty of windows to open and also appreciated was the velux blind in the bedroom for a darker room. It is spacious and the photos show the space well. It would be 5* if it was updated but I'd rather pay less than pay towards an update. There were no handy leaflets etc although we had already checked what to do on line. Either there is a new mattress on the double bed or previous comments were very picky it seemed good to us. No keysafe which is unusual these days but the owner was very responsive anytime we contacted

It was a great place to stay.

However, Wifi was poor, door lock for the bathroom was not working. Overall, the view of the property is 10/10.

Location was spot on.

View was spot on. Couldn’t have asked for anything better. The rooms were lovely and clean and provided us with everything we needed. We were greeted to receive the key on arrival. I would and have already recommended this apartment.

We absolutely loved it!

The view is perfect, the sail loft is comfortable and welcoming. John was a welcome host and was very prompt when speaking to him. I will be returning.

I had a delightful week staying in the Sail Loft.

Spectacular views of the Western Solent, it was so easy to walk into Yarmouth along the beach. Safe parking, and little touches like washing up liquid, starter pack of tea & coffee, enhanced my stay. Cosy in the evenings, with a contempory electric fire. I will be booking this property again. Thank you.

Lovely loft in a great location with fantastic views across the Solent.

Clean spacious and comfortable - now has a mini freezer so enough storage if you are flexible. Had a wonderful time here and if you read some of the other reviews please remember this is a holiday let and you need to be a little flexible in how you use it. Mattress is bouncy and does need a memory foam topper! Hope to return next year.

Firstly let me say that we had a very enjoyable stay.

The property was clean and we had a fantastic view. The things I am going to mention are not things that would spoil a stay at this property in any way they are just my personal little niggles. They are more a few things to be aware of or that could improve the property a bit. Firstly the mattress on the double bed needs to either be changed or have memory foam topper as you can feel the springs/coils a bit. The ceilings are very low at the edges (I know it's a loft so expected) but just watch your head when moving around. There could be a few more utensils in the kitchen, cheese grater, tongs, etc and the plates appear to have a metal pattern around the edge and did not appear to be microwave safe. The cooker works ok but is obviously pretty old. The fridge on the other hand needs changing as it did not get cold enough and water formed inside, maybe the seal is not tight enough. Also it is very small, with a tiny freezer space (again understandable due to space) however you cannot store much more than a small bag of chips in the freezer compartment. They do not supply towels (unusual) so remember to bring your own and if the weather is going to be hot a fan for the bedrooms is a must even with the windows open it does get rather hot. Having said all that please don't let it stop you booking this property as we did enjoy staying here. There is always something going on in the Solent and you have the perfect view. A large seal swam past very close to the beach and took a look at us much to my delight as I have never seen one so close before. It is perfect for exploring the area with some lovely trails and coastal paths that go on for miles and you can stroll along the waters edge to Yarmouth. We hardly drove anywhere as there were such lovely walks so nearby. There is also the Cafe next door which is very popular. So YES I would recommend this property. It is in such a lovely position and the things I have mentioned above are my own little niggles others would probably not even mention them.

The online photo doesn't give clear indication of where you are actually staying.

The lounge & bedroom furniture need renewing. However it has a wonderful views of the Solent & we were lucky to have a weeks sunshine.Unfortunately the nearby cafe was closed for 5 of our 7 days.Looking at the visitor book I see many people return & this is understandable given the location.

Cottage is a bit tired and needs bringing up to date.

The bathroom had an unpleasant odour all the time but this could have been the drainage being blocked which we spotted on Friday as we left and was fixed within the hour. The double bed was uncomfortable, single beds were fine. A new hob would not go amiss. Having said all this the location is great and we would stay there again.

Exceptional location, helpful owner.

Apartment needs some care and could be wonderful with some attention. The price was fair given condition - we would certainly pay more if improved. Furniture is old and worn. The shower is more of a dribble and the fridge and freezer need replacing

We had a lovely holiday.

The apartment was very nice. Also clean. Every thing you needed for a holiday. Would recommend it to family and friends. The location was just in the right place to get to diffrent places

Great location and views.

5mins drive from Yarmouth ferry. Doors opening on balcony listening to the sea was amazing. Furniture comfy. All bedding new and clean. No velux blinds to block out morning sun. Very bright by 6am. Velux window hinges and frames extremely covered with cobwebs, dead insects and dust. Opening then resulted in debris falling. Situated on edge of Fort Victoria Country Park which has attractions worthy of looking around and watching sunset.

Lovely property, lovely view - bed very creeky and mattress awful, but all in all a fabulous place!

This property could be 5star but it is let down by some details not attended to.

There were several lights out.in the bedrooms. In the double bedroom the mirror which is loose, sits on the dressing table but as this is under the sloped roof you have to sit on the floor to do your hair and make-up- ridiculous at any time but especially when you are in your seventies! There is a small mirror in the twin bedroom but if you were sharing with another couple it would not be feasible to ask to use it. The mirror could easily be fixed on the wall by the door. and the problem solved.. The lock on the door to the double bedroom does not work.A wedge has been supplied but if the velux window is open and it is windy the wedge does not hold the door back.We had to resort to stuffing a tissue into the lock and then applying the wedge in order to protect our privacy.. The blind on the velux window in the double bedroom is broken so you are woken at first light.. Having the Juliet balcony is great but it needs a tieback as it tends to blow closed if you do not wedge the door behind the chair.. Please provide more coat hangers, there were not enough for four people especially with teenagers! We were disappointed that we were not given any recycling options but just had to put everything in one bag. These are only trivial things that could be easily fixed to bring the property to the standard that befits its fabulous location.

Wow what a view.

Sat on the edge of the solent there's a constant flow of boats passing by the balcony. Stunning! The property is well situated to travel around the island with yarmouth only a 5 minute drive. The sail loft was very clean on arrival and the host lovely to deal with. There are a few small issues ( fridge could do with replacing and a few velux blinds need replacing) but nothing that spoilt our stay. Had a fabulous stay and look forward to a return visit. Highly recommended.

Lovely location and very comfortable.

The only downside was the fridge as it had shelves missing, apart from that we would certainly stay there again and recommend the Sail Loft.

Cosy, comfortable property.

Perfect location for exploring the island.

very charming property, could do with some tlc but think maybe mistreated by uncaring guests.

The first thing to greet us on the stairs was a dead plant!

! Mr Brady's introduction was brief and when I asked if the fridge had been mended or replaced,(as seen in the reviews) he said people want too much these days, like a zip wire to the beach!!! ( Not the best of welcomes). We have been to many Sykes accommodation and often have a great welcome + scones and cream, wine eof the fridge had no door! It still doesn't. Nor is there a shelf over the crisper drawer. The other comment by several visitors was the kitchen hot tap "dribbled" and took a long time to fill the bowl. Still the same. The hot tap in the bathroom "swivels" and needs tightening. Also comments re the veluxs having cobwebs they have not been cleaned. Out of 7 velux blinds only 2 could be pull down, the others were broken. A previous visitor suggested black out blinds in the bedrooms, we were awake about 6am because of the light. The microwave, toaster and kettle had stickers to say they were checked in July 2019, it is obvious they have not been tested recently. How often does a Skyes representatives visit to check, as the photos on your website are out of date. Reading the comments in the visitors book and web reviews that the property is tired. the lockdowns would have been a perfect time to refresh it. Or is it an attitude of the landlord that he "can't be bothered"? I think he may be relying on the beautiful location, the beach and easy reach for many lovely attractions to get visitors. At the price charged we expect the accommodation to be top quality as previous experiences. We did enjoy our week, but the comments above frustrated us.

The location was fabulous with superb views across the Solent.

The apartment was cosy and warm, especially given the wet and windy weather. The furnishings and fittings were adequate although some of them were dated (fridge had a broken door and the ice compartment had no door at all, the crockery and cutlery were quite basic, the cooker was quite elderly). The hot tap in the kitchen was completely inadequate which made washing up quite a chore. The lighting in the living room was quite dingy so it was difficult to find a place with enough light to read in the evenings. Several of the blinds on the Velux windows were broken so could not be closed and in the bedrooms we could have done with blackout blinds on the Velux windows - I could imagine that in the height of summer, when it is light by 4.30 a.m., it would be very frustrating to have no blackout at the windows. Our overall impression was that Sail Loft was a sweet little property for anyone wanting an interestingly different quiet place to stay in the Yarmouth area, but it could do with an update and a refresh of the decorations. We did enjoy our week but wonder whether it was maybe a little over-priced.

Excellent property very clean and tidy great location on the beach great views.

Easy parking lots to do and see all within walking distance. Can't wait to stay again.

The automated arrival departure messages are not effective.

We were sent one for arrival and selected 3pm.when we got there the owner wasn't there and clearly not expecting us so we had to ring him and wait for thirty minutes. With the departure we selected 10am abs this was refused so we asked when we could leave and received no answer. In the end we left at 10 and there was no one there to give the key to. Highly unsatisfactory system.

fridge needs renewing no door on freezer compartment, shower mat needed, would be nice to have a laundry facility, other than that great place to stop fantastic views

Light shades were dusty, Tv reception very poor, Velux roof light glass needs cleaning and 1 of the roof light blinds was broken and dangling down and the bathroom fan was not working.

A washing machine would be an excellent commodity to the apartment. In general the above statements are really only minor, the apartment just needs a bit of T L C. I would definitely return to the property and would certainly recommend it to others. Mr D T W Nuneaton

Spectacular views,a joy to visit.

Have visited before and will be back again.

Would have appreciated a dvd player.

Other than that an excellent break. Would recommend

The apartment was very good, clean and comfortable.

We would go there again

The accommodation was as described but the hot water system and electric shower were "tired" and needed some updating or attention .

Location was excellent and very clean. Maybe wifi would be a good addition for next season .

We had a wonderful week's stay in Sail Loft.

The location is perfect, over looking the sea. My 5 year old son loved watching the ferries and sailing boats. The facilities are good but basic. An updated television with DVD player would be good, especially for families staying with children. However, this is only a minor point and we have already booked again for next year, which will be our third stay. It is a great place to base yourself to explore the island.
