Fieldside

We really enjoyed our stay at Fieldside.

House is in a lovely rural location and yet only a few minutes drive to Freshwater and Totland. It is well equipped and well maintained. King size bed very comforatble. Secure and quiet garden, with small lawn well suited to the needs of a dog. South facing garden perfect for breakfast and evening dining. Fresh flowers, essentials and gift were lovely, touch. Parking good to front of house and at the rear of garden via easily accessible side access. First time staying in west Wight and found it to be much quieter than the east side of the island but really nice and would definitely return to Fieldside.

This property was clean, well maintained, with good facilities and made an ideal base to explore the Isle of Wight, especially the wetern part.

I appreciated the tea, coffee and biscuits that were provided and even some Isle of Wight cracker thins. There were some good recommendations for places to go with leaflets and other information provided, we went to the nearby Ivy pub, that was recommended and were impressed by the home made food. Overall, we were very happy with this choice and would come back again.

Fieldside was very clean and comfortable with everything we needed for our stay.

The location is perfect and quiet for a good nights sleep. Thank you for the keepsake and for letting us stay in your house. We had a wonderful time.

We had a lovely couple of weeks in Fieldside.

The property was very clean, comfortable, warm and fully equipped. It was like home from home. Thank you for supplying us with tea, coffee, sugar, milk, upon arrival as well as flowers and a kind gift to remember our holiday. It’s situated in an ideal location and within walking distance of Totland Bay and Freshwater Bay. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning to the property again. Fieldside is cosy , warm and well equipped.

The beds are nice and comfortable and milk , coffee, tea and sugar are supplied as well as washing up liquid and dish washer tablets. The owner is very friendly and supplies a lot of information and kindly left a homemade gift . It’s a lovely place to stay and would highly recommend it.

We had a lovely stay at Fieldside.

It is a spacious property (we are family of 5 + dog), very comfortable, good location. Great communication from the owner.

Our 2nd stay at Fieldside (we stayed in May) and it was as comfortable and cosy as we remembered.

The owner has thought of everything, even providing salt & pepper, which we forgot. The garden was resplendent in Autumn colours and the fruit trees were laden with fruit. We were so lucky with warm sunny days and loved sitting in the garden with a glass of wine - we even had to put up the parasol at times. We can't praise this cottage enough and the proximity to Tennyson Downs is just perfect. Freshwater town close by with supermarkets, restaurants and a garden centre. Book early, you won't be disappointed!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fieldside.

It is a lovely house with plenty of room and a little garden perfect for the dog. Nice and clean, the bedroom and living room were very comfortable, with the kitchen being modern and well equipped. The place itself is set in a nice quiet area, with the only noise we heard being sheep in the adjacent field! The only negative I would flag to dog owners is that dogs are not allowed upstairs.

VERY QUIET TRANQUIL AREA HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS PROIPERTY

Fieldside was an absolute joy to stay in.

Set in a pretty rural area, the cottage is ideal for anyone who loves walking as the beautiful Tennyson Downs are right on the doorstep (with a fab pub right by the car park!) The cottage itself is fairly modern but full of character and the rooms are light and airy with large patio doors leading out into a very pretty enclosed garden. This is south-facing so gets sun all day long, great to relax after a walk with a glass of something sitting on the artisan wooden seat. If the weather isn't so warm, the cottage is centrally heated to a cosy 20c and also has an flame-effect electric fire in the lounge to keep you cosy. The owner had kindly left essentials such as tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits, washup and milk in the fridge. An unexpected bonus was the beautiful handcrafted gift as a welcome - such a generous thing to do and says everything about the owner. We slept so well on the fabulous wooden king-sized sleigh bed, the only sounds are the morning birdsong so if you are needing peace and quiet - this is the ideal place for you. If you want to potter around the shops, Freshwater is only a short drive away and has lots of small retail shops such as a fishmongers, bakers etc as well as a large Tesco and Sainsburys. We had a wonderful walk along Totland Bay beach and then watched the sun setting inside The Waterfront, a restaurant right on the beach - magical! I can highly recommend Fieldside to anyone - especially if you have a dog (not allowed upstairs though - but a stair gate keeps them downstairs). We can't wait to return later in the year.

This was a very warm and comfortable property in a lovely quiet location.

There are great dog walks close by and places to eat. We also sampled the local take-a-ways who delivered. Totland bay is really close and we usually dropped by to get a coffee at the waterfront cafe in the afternoons.

A deceptively spacious house with everything you could want for a peaceful holiday, including a lovely semi-rural location.

Lovely cottage was very homely and very clean .

All the stuff you need for a comfortable stay . Does say dog friendly but be aware they are not allowed upstairs or on furniture. Lovely little garden perfect for a pooch . The only little downside and it is little is the chairs in the lounge could do with updating not so comfy that’s a small thing otherwise a lovely place to stay.

The property was exactly as described.

Jude sent very detailed and easy to follow instructions before the stay which made our arrival easy. The property was extremely spacious and well equipped with everything needed. There were loads of towels and bedding and the kitchen has everything you could ever need The fresh milk and flowers were an added bonus. Our only point of note was for those with small children the listing mentions a stair gate but be aware this is only at the bottom of the stairs and not the top We would definitely look to return to this property again and would recommend it to anybody wanting to visit the Island

Exactly featured online, spacious and relaxing

We stayed at Fieldside to celebrate our ruby wedding anniversary and it was perfect, after being married for 40 years we’ve stayed in many many cottages and it was perfect with a very safe garden for our puppy, fantastic location being within walking distance of Freshwater and the many local beautiful beaches.

Very well laid out property and heating was good when we had finally worked out how to light the gas fire in the lounge.

We only tried once to use the hob (induction) and found the instructions too difficult to follow and ended up using the microwave. Otherwise the kitchen was very clean and well laid out. There were only 2 of us, but the property could easily accommodate 5 people. The garden was also well maintained and looked pretty.

A warm and comfortable house in a very pleasant location, looking over fields from the rear of the house.

The house contained everything we required and was well located for exploring The Needles end of the island.

The whole process felt welcoming and communication with the owner was excellent.

The property was spacious and comfortable for five adults, and especially useful was having a second fridge/freezer. Thoughtful touches included milk and a vase of fresh flowers on our arrival. The location is great if you like local walks to several beaches and the countryside - and the local Co-op was always well stocked for our needs. Thank you Jude and Sykes for a wonderful holiday!

Very nice, spacious place, well equipped, we especially liked the garden.

One suggestion is to provide a recycling bin in the kitchen to help visitors keep their stack of recyclable objects tidy. Note: Some of the games are broken now/worn out and need replacing (e.g. Guess Who is missing cards, Scrabble unplayable so much of it is missing).

Our second visit to this property which is conveniently placed for a relaxing holiday on the quieter side of the island close to The Needles and Compton Bay.

The house is airy, comfortable and well furnished and the garden is beautifully kept. The poet Tennyson's house Farringford is less than a mile away and is well worth a visit.

Lovely house as described.

Situated in quiet area with beaches easily accessible. Just a 10 minute drive from the Yarmouth Ferry and with shops, takeaways and pubs within a few minutes. The house was clean with everything that was needed. Plenty of bedding, towels and blankets if required. I would definitely recommend the house and the owner Jude was very helpful.

Great holiday cottage in a great location.

It had everything we needed and a lovely garden. The only downside was that the wi-fi was a bit slow, but otherwise it was perfect.

Had a lovely break at Fieldside with the family (& dog)

We enjoyed our stay with our grand daughters and the dog.

The cottage is ideally placed for both! A couple of small points (not criticisms) We noticed the hot water never got particularly hot and wondered whether we should have done something ourselves to boost the system but were reluctant to “fiddle” Also the dish washer wasn’t particularly efficient. We used a number of different programmes but the dishes weren’t always cleaned off properly.

Would have liked a walk in shower.

Felt precarious standing in a bath. Also difficult getting in and out.

Good location , nice walk across field to Totland Bay each eve to watch sunset.

Had blackout blinds which is always helpful & no street light to disturb sleep. However I felt that the house needed a deep clean, my dog has come back with fleas ? Although in a quiet setting there are 2 young and very noisy children next door. Fence needed to be higher as every time adults walked out of garden could see in so no privacy. Would suggest that the climbers on back wall be cut right back as they came up and around bedroom window which meant couldn't have windows open in sweltering heatdue to insects and spiders coming in.

The house had everything an active family needs for the IoW, including a hose pipe to wash the wet suits / boards!

The best thing was location - easy access to West Wight and the local beaches at Totland, Colwell and Alum Bay (Needles). We even walked into Freshwater as it was so close!

Just got home after a wonderful week on the Isle of Wight.

Fieldside was very clean and comfortable and was in a perfect place for exploring the island.

Perfect location for a peaceful but interesting holiday with everywhere you'd like to go reachable in under an hour by car.

The house was clean, tidy and comfortable with a very pleasant garden. We are booking a return visit.

Proximity to walks and beaches great so gave the car a holiday too.

Secure back garden ideal for dog to wander in.

House is well equipped, very pretty little garden and new kitchen.

Walking distance of Freshwater village where most things were available. Good country walks nearby as well. It would be good to have a hairdryer in the house. We would thoroughly recommend Fieldside.

This is a very well equipped property and in a very quiet location.

It was just what we needed after being in lockdown for so long and it gave us the opportunity to see my daughter and grandson who joined us for the holiday. I would have no hesitation in booking again

A lovely house to stay in within walking distance of the sea.

A fabulous new kitchen was an added and very welcome addition, as was a lovely private spring garden. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived during storm Dennis and the weather during our whole week was extremely wet and windy.

Although the weather was not great we still managed to explore the island. Our holiday cottage was extremely comfortable (possibly the comfiest we have had) the beds especially, and everything worked as it should even the WiFi which was important to our nine year old daughter. The holiday Cottage was extremely warm and inviting when we arrived back from a wet and windy walk. We would definitely consider this property again if we went back to the Isle of Wight

Had a lovely holiday in Fieldside.

Owner was very pleasant and helpful. There was plenty of linen, towels, kitchen ware. A lovely house and garden. The kitchen could do with being ungraded especially the units, white goods and boiler. Plenty of parking round the back but drive round was a bit bumpy. Would recommended this place for a nice stay in a beautiful part of the IOW.

A lovely house in a peaceful location.

Everything was clean and well-appointed. The heating worked really well and he beds were comfy. Great selection of books and games for the children. Our dog also had a great time. We would stay here again.

The house was situated in a nice area.

It was handy for at least 3 different beaches ( one was walkable by an old guy of 71 who had a cardiac arrest last year ! ). We were 5 adults and I thought we would be a bit crammed. But the house was spacious and we had plenty of room. All beds were comfortable. There was every facility you could possibly require. The back garden was pretty and nice for sun-bathing

We had a lovely time in the Isle of Wight I will definitely be coming back our children absolutely loved it

Our stay at Fieldside was brilliant, the cottage and garden were lovely, so peaceful and relaxing.

The only downside was that a week wasn't long enough and we felt sad to leave.

Lovely place and very clean. Great selection of books in the kids room and they loved the bunk beds. Main bedrooms very comfy and spacious. Large lounge/diner with plenty of board games. Boiler a bit noisy for those in the 2nd bedroom so dont set it to come on too early :-)

The house is lovely.

The location is peaceful, with gently bleating sheep just over the back fence, yet it's still within an easy walk of both the village and multiple beaches. The garden is well enclosed, which is a great help when travelling with dogs or children. I've been very impressed with the standard of all of the Sykes Cottages I've stayed in, and this is the best yet.

A map reference would have been handy.

A spacious house , all that you needed like home from home

We had a fantastic week on the Isle of Wight, I went with my husband daughter son in law and two grandsons, Fieldside was spacious ideal for families very clean and comfortable, the owner really helpful.

We have been visiting the island over the past 30 years and we enjoyed staying in this location very much. The house was a real home from home, and if the weather had been a little warmer, we would have enjoyed sitting out on the patio more. The bird song was super and the house very peaceful. Thank you

Previous experience of rental properties has been 'functional' and spartan, but Fieldside cottage was warm, inviting, and immaculate Thoughtful touches like hand towels, hand soap, even fresh flowers, made us feel welcome and at home.

I booked only three nights to accommodate work and family commitments but hope that next time we can stay longer. Thank you.

Fieldside is in a quiet location backing onto fields which at the time of our break were full of lambs.

We awoke to bird song each day and the absence of street lights meant the starry night sky was spectacular. There are many footpaths within easy reach of the property which lead to shops in the centre of Freshwater, Tennyson Down, The Needles and Freshwater Bay to name a few well known locations. There are 2 good pubs which serve good food within easy walking distance (one along a footpath, one along a country road (so take a torch). The property was cosy, warm and had all appliances we needed as well as plenty of towels and bedding. Being a quiet location, a good night's sleep is virtually guaranteed.

This was a tranquil spot in an idyllic location.

The accommodation was spacious and comfortable. We were blessed with fine weather for our stay and particularly enjoyed relaxing over coffee on the patio in the mornings. The garden was very pretty, secluded and a great sun trap. The cottage had everything we needed, and helpful information about the appliances, and also about local attractions. Both we and our dog loved the fact there were public footpaths pretty much from the front door, and being able to walk to the sea was an added bonus.Sunset drink at Waterfront Inn highly recommended! Good location for exploring the scenery and heritage sites on this beautiful island. We'd definitely like to come back.

10 minutes walk to town but a decent torch needed 400 yard road with no lights or pavement.

We had a torch but it was really too small. It would be really nice in the summer Our dog loved it.
