  • "Our second visit to Tudor House."

    The house remains in excellent condition with every comfort you could wish for. Exceptionally clean throughout. If you want to cook a meal all utensils are available. However, with such a wide choice of eateries, we chose to eat out. We noticed Tudor House is not available In 2027 but hopefully we will be able to book for 2028. We definitely want to return to this historic home. Well done to our thoughtful hosts.

  • "Tudor Cottage,is lovely situated in the heart of Sandwich."

    It is a beautiful old property, restored with love and well equiped and furnished. We felt at home. The house has a nice flow, a snug where you can watch tv or withdraw from a busy day while the other familymembers are having a chat in the kitchen/diningroom. Very comfortable beds too. We gave it a four star rating instead of five because of the traffic noise. All other aspects deserve five stars.

  • "How wonderful Tudor Cottage looks now the outside brickwork has been revealed."

    On entering the property we were delighted to see how the house had been restored and the attention to detail on use of authentic furniture.The kitchen and bathroom are modern and everything you could need was available. The courtyard garden with towering palm tree, a delightful place to enjoy a glass of wine. The cottage is in easy reach of all the local amenities. We will definitely make a return visit.   • "Tudor Cottage is a lovely historic house, absolutely full of character."

    This was our 2nd stay there. You can sit in the living rooms and imagine that you're hundreds of years in the past, whilst still benefitting from all modern comforts (e.g. a well-equipped kitchen, great shower, smart TV, etc).

  • "A great holiday cottage, this having been the second year we have visited."

    The most comfortable beds. Great position with a wonderful atmosphere. Nicely arranged kitchen with everything we wanted/needed. Only downsides are the palm in the yard as it stops the cobblestones drying out and blocks out the sunlight and the lack of comfortable seating in the snug. We would recommend and will be back.

  • "A quirky cottage, quite a dark front room but lots of lamps."

    The kitchen is small but very well equipped only lacking a small towel to save having to wipe hands on the tea towel. The settees in the back room do get a bit uncomfortable after a while. The stairs are a bit of a challenge but the bedrooms and bathroom are lovely. Again another hand towel would be welcome. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Tudor cottage and Sandwich is a really lovely little town, full of character.

  • "Tudor Cottage is a lovely and very special place to stay."

    It has all the modern comforts - we love the bath in the bedroom - but so much antique charm and atmosphere. It's also perfectly placed to explore Sandwich and the area. We walked to Deal for a swim and then hopped on the bus back one day, explored the Roman fort at Richborough the next. Ian was extremely helpful and we hope to come back soon

The walks and cycle paths in the area are fantastic - we walk along the “Saxon Shore Way” along the bank of the Stour to Richborough Roman Fort in one direction and across the St George’s Golf course to get to the beach and Deal.   • "Very sympathetically restored and characterful Tudor property."

    It's always a joy to arrive at a place that smells fresh and clean, no greasy ovenware (happens all too often, sadly!), and everything clearly presented concerning utilities. Again, there are places where one can spend a lot of the first day of arrival dealing with niggles and problems - with Tudor Cottage, I am happy to say that this did not occur. So, Kudos! We managed to park free for the whole seek in Sandown Road which was only a 5 minute walk away, in a safe part of town. We unloaded and loaded in Short Street using 'hazard warning lights' and this didn't cause any road rage, fortunately. The courtyard garden is a lovely place to sit - only wish I had been there on a hot summer's day to really enjoy it! Was great watching the planes flying overheard underneath the shade and swish of the palm tree leaves ;) Thank You. Honey Reed

The property

Perched in the port town of Sandwich in Kent, is the superb 16th-century Tudor Cottage which has its own private entrance.

Enjoying an abundance of character throughout its interior, including exposed beams, as well as easy access to the local amenities and coast, Tudor Cottage is a wonderful base for a family of five.

Step into the dining room, where you can look forward to long lazy dinners and recounting the days adventures.

Evenings can be spent relaxing in the inviting sitting room, with plush seating and a Smart TV to keep you entertained, as well as a woodburning stove.

Impress your guests with flavourful recipes cooked up in the well-equipped kitchen, before choosing to dine at the table for six or alfresco in the rear walled courtyard.

Sandwich is one of the original five Cinque Ports that grew rich by providing ships for the monarch before the establishment of a regular navy It is 2 miles from the coast. The river is now perfect for taking pleasure boat trips either to view the seals basking near Pegwell Bay or to explore the magnificent ruins of a Roman town at Richborough. This atmospheric site is run by English Heritage and provides a fascinating insight into how life was during the Roman occupation. With its ancient buildings, nature reserves, golf courses, delightful country pubs, cafés and restaurants, the medieval Cinque Port of Sandwich is a must to visit for the tourist. Sandwich is also surrounded by small picturesque villages, such as Eastry, Ash, Worth and Woodnesborough, and within easy reach are the nearby towns of Canterbury and the Port of Dover. Sandwich has particular appeal to golfers as it is home to the Royal St George's Golf Club once described as the “most beautiful seaside golf course in the world".
