My friend & I enjoyed our stay at Kiln How with our two Labradors.

The cottage was clean & comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped allowing us to cook & enjoy homemade meals! We all enjoyed the benefits from the log burner in the evenings after a days exploring after purchasing bags of logs from Booths supermarket. Having the bus stop literally on our door step made some of our days out easier than taking the car,the bus runs every half hour into Keswick. Booking a Tesco shop made our lives easier on arrival too. We would see a young red squirrel in the garden next to the stream in the mornings foraging for food! The location of the cottage is perfect for exploring, hiking up Belncathra, enjoying a coffee at the Threlkeld coffee shop or an evening meal at the Horse & Farrier!

The cottage is very well placed for getting around the Lakes, bus stop at the pub a minute down the road.

The cottage has a homely feel, provides everything you need, the double bedrooms are large, bright and comfortable. The bathroom has a lovely large shower and separate bath, really nice. All in all we had a fabulous stay and recommend the cottage.

I don’t know where to start!

The kitchen, the cooker absolutely filthy would never cook a meal in that, the sink half bowl was brown and part of the main bowl the wire plate rack at the bottom was rusty and dirty we never used the Plate rack. We cleaned the sink with bleach. The table put a glass down and it stuck to it had to clean that before use. Microwave rusty inside. Cutlery drawer dirt in the bottom had to clean that. Cupboards inside dirty had to clean them. Living room carpet stained settee arms were sticky had to clean fireplace dirty side table legs all loose. Main yellow bedroom sheet stained had to wash, the mattress protector stained swapped with back bedroom protector, bedside light not working changed bulb no difference. Landing carpet stained. Bathroom mould around the bottom in the corners. Shower leaked and came through downstairs. We have been on many holidays with Sykes and other companies this is the worst cottage we have ever stayed at. There are standards which should be maintained both in the equipment and cleanliness this fell short on both. I would recommend changing the cleaners as they clearly do have a clue. Clearly wasn’t worth the money paid and a holiday is for relaxing not cleaning.
