Description
Heatherley is a substantial, end-of-terrace property which has been renovated to a quality standard and sits within a peaceful residential area close to the centre of Ambleside.
With four bedrooms and bathrooms, the property is designed to provide comfortable accommodation for groups of families and friends looking to stay within one of the most desirable holiday locations in the UK.
After a day of rambling the fells, put away your boots and coats in the hallway and head to the sitting area, complete with two sofas and armchairs, dual aspect windows, a woodburning stove and wall-mounted TV to entertain.
Gather at the wooden dining table, whether for home-cooked meals or a board game brought from home.
Move to the rear of the property to discover the superbly appointed kitchen, complete with a range cooker and plenty of worktop space, plus all the crockery and utensils you could need for a self-catered stay.
As the evening draws to a close, retire to one of the four bedrooms, each one containing plush beds draped in gorgeous linens and home to plenty of storage for your things.
On the first floor is the master king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room and a twin room served by a contemporary bathroom, while the second floor offers a similar setup with a king-size bedroom with en-suite shower and a twin room, both of which feature unique sloped roofing.
Spend a moment outside at the rear patio, offering a great space for evening drinks or alfresco dining, or head to one of the many eateries in Ambleside, including an award-winning Michelin starred restaurant.
Resting just outside Ambleside you will find Brockhole Visitors Centre where you can enjoy treetop treks, mini golf, archery and some delightful walks around the extensive gardens designed by British gardener Thomas Mawson.
Beatrix Potter’s former home, the National Trust’s Hill Top, rests close by in Hawkshead and is a quaint farmhouse still filled with the writer’s furnishings and favourite things, almost as though she had just stepped out for a walk; it’s a fantastic place to visit for any fans of her children’s books.
Heatherley is an individual holiday home with its own style and character, perfect for a getaway whatever time of year.

We really enjoyed our stay at Heatherly.
The position in Ambleside was great - peaceful but within a couple of minutes of all the shops and cafes. We really appreciated the variety of walks we could access without using the car. The house was very spacious and had everything we needed. The parking arrangement was fine. On one afternoon the car park was full. We used the disc to park outside the house for an hour and by the time we went back it had calmed down.
We really enjoyed our two-night stay at this property.
Our initial impression was excellent! The house was very clean, spacious and comfortable, and it was a great size for five people and a dog. One of the things we particularly liked was that there was effectively one bathroom per bedroom. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, while the other two have bathrooms directly on the landing, which was really convenient when travelling as a larger group. The kitchen is very well equipped and had everything we needed. We even cooked a Sunday dinner on the day we arrived and had no problem finding everything we needed. There was also plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware for a large group. That said, some of the kitchen equipment, particularly the utensils, oven trays and bowls, is quite well used and could benefit from being replaced or updated. There were a couple of smaller issues during our stay. On the top floor, none of the bedside lamps were working and some did not have bulbs, so this would definitely be worth addressing. Our biggest disappointment was actually the lack of communication before our stay. I tried several times to contact the property manager/Sykes to ask some simple questions about the accommodation, including whether there was a coffee machine, how the parking permits worked and whether an earlier arrival might be possible. Unfortunately, it was extremely difficult to get hold of anyone. The telephone number provided is an automated service which sends a number to contact by message or WhatsApp, but despite trying, we didn't receive a response. It was a shame, as having this information beforehand would have made the arrival process much easier. Overall, though, we had a lovely stay. The house is in a fantastic, very central location, within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, pubs and some beautiful walks around Ambleside. The property itself is spacious, clean and very well suited to families or groups, and with a few relatively minor improvements and better communication from the management company, it would be an excellent place to stay.
Would help if you had 8 glasses for 8.
people. Only 5 wine glasses and 5 flutes. You can't read the instructions on the cooker as badly worn Only one loo roll per bathroom for 2 people. Ran out after first day. Bit tight really. Property.needs a bit of paint and some garden furniture. Positives... Great location, handy for Ambleside. Parking in local car park. One spot used to be a parking permit for outside the property, but not any more. Now have to walk from local car park. Bedrooms could do with some privacy nets as you look straight into neighbours window.
