Description
Resting within a residential cul-de-sac, just a scenic walk from the bustling of town centre of Ambleside is this detached bungalow, Todd Crag.
Situated in an elevated setting, Todd Crag enjoys views of the fells from all the rear windows and offers an ideal holiday accommodation for either two couples or a family wanting a pleasant base from which to enjoy the best of the Lake District.
Arrive at the cottage and park up on the driveway before heading up a few steps to reach the front door.
Step inside to discover the spacious L-shaped living room where you can unwind on the sofa in the evening or on a sunny day, slide open the patio doors to reveal the balcony and take in the sweep of the fells around Ambleside and down to Lake Windermere.
Try your hand at a spot of home-cooking by making use of the quality appliances within the sleek kitchen, including an electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer compartment and a dishwasher.
Delight in the dish at the well-presented dining table, before you pop open a bottle of gin and toast to a magnificent holiday in the Lake District.
Catch up on your rest in the master bedroom, complete with light colours, a fitted wardrobe and a king-size double bed, along with a en-suite bathroom so you can have your own privacy while getting prepared for the day.
There is also a twin room which has use of the fully tiled family bathroom with bath and shower over.
The centre of Ambleside is just a gentle stroll away and offers a wealth of shops, pubs, traditional inns and restaurants to take advantage of, plus an independent cinema which showcases the latest films and live music.
For the avid walkers of the group there are plenty of beautiful walks in the area, with some particularly breathtaking routes towards Stock Ghyll Force, a 70 foot waterfall in a wooded area, as well as around the shores of Coniston Water which also offers some of the best mountain biking around.
Slightly further afield you can access Hawkshead and Esthwaite Water, along with Bowness-on-Windermere, Windermere and Lakeside, each of which host their own attractions and atmosphere.
Todd Crag is an idyllic getaway to one of the UK’s most desirable holiday destinations.

Constructive observations: No basic info file.
No info on heating especially if you’re not used to online systems. No recycling info. Aside from the new bottle of oil, it could do with some basic supplies for cooking. eg salt, pepper, sugar (even though we don't use it), vinegar, cling film and foil (roll of foil had about 6"), tea, coffee, etc, etc. The property we visited following Todd Crag had all these and more plus several tins of specialist biscuits, treats, etc, bottle of wine, milk. We did appreciate the quality kitchen roll. 1 frying pan and 1 saucepan is not really adequate - I'm excluding the aluminium (why does this site use a USA dictionary) frying pans which are useless on an induction hob (which is why I left them out with the instruction manual on the relevant page). Plenty of casserole options though! No facility for sharpening blunt knives. No real point in having a dishwasher if there is insufficient equipment/cutlery to load it up. Lack of shelves in the showers for shower gel/shampoo Twin bed furniture was “wobbly” Twin bedroom was cold despite heating apparently being on. Garden – Lots of escape routes for dogs Some hooks in the hall would be good for coats, dog leads, etc. Yes, there were cupboards in the hall and bedroom but sliding doors need some serious work. As a minimum, I suggest rubbing candle wax on the runners. Clearly, money had been recently spent on the property but there are a lot of basics which need sorting. Maybe the owners should spend a week living in.
Good accommodation, nice views, quiet area, clean and tidy on arrival, would definitely book again if available.
We had a warm period and no possibility to cool the kitchen down as no curtains where present.
We had an issue with the toilet in the hallway. Kept running and no good flushing. Also nothing was foreseen like a welcome package. This is our fifth time in ambleside and this was the minor pleasant home. We will consider lakelovers again next time.
