  • "Great location."

Comfortable and cosy cottage with great facilities.

    Reviewed by Alison4.7Oct 2023

  • "There's plenty of room in the property with two good sized bedrooms, as well as a dressing room and living space."

The Smart TV, comfy furniture and modern kitchen facilities allowed us to make ourselves right at home. The property is in an excellent location with the shops & restaurants of Bowness right on it's door step. We had no issues with on-road parking, however I can imagine this being trickier in the summer months. There was a small amount of noise (no more than 30 seconds) on a couple of nights from workers leaving the pub, but nothing that would keep you up at night. Both pay offs that are worth it for being so central. Would certainly recommend!

  • "A beautiful cottage which has been thoughtfully and lovingly designed, for example heating on the terrace and automatic lighting as you come downstairs."

Facilities are second to none. Great location but such a pity that there is a gate for a pub right by the door. We were woken each night a couple of times by either staff or patrons noisily leaving, which I understand is no fault of the owners, but is just such a shame as otherwise would be perfect as it was unfortunately detrimental for sleeping.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and found the property to be lovingly designed. We take all comments on board. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

  • "The cottage was very well situated in the heart of Bowness allowing access to all relevant activities."

It was well maintained and the kitchen had all the facilities required. However, the property was very small and felt cramped. Also, it is situated behind a hotel/restaurant which produces a foul odour from its kitchen and places its industrial-sized rubbish bin at the entrance to the cottage. This meant that we were unable to enjoy the outside space at any point. Also there are no views of the lake or surrounding countryside from the property as it is very enclosed. Finally, there was some renovation of the next-door property going on at the time of our stay and the builders consistently started noisy work at 7:30 every morning.

Thank you very much for your comments and for taking the time to let us know your thoughts. We are sorry that you were inconvenienced by the builders, however we have no control over this and are not always made aware of planned works, in order to inform guests. We are glad that you enjoyed the location and all it has to offer. Lakelovers Owner Relations Property Owner

Lovely comfy beds, gorgeous bathroom, and in a brilliant location. Our little dog had a lovely time. We loved the balcony which was a real sun trap. Will definitely be visiting again.

  • "The cottage itself was lovely."

Nice decor and cosy feel. Huge telly, pleasant lounge, good kitchen area and bedrooms comfortable. However the internet connection didn't work, but this was not really a problem as we had lots of data allowance on our phones. Think if you don't know the area the picture of the front of the cottage doesn't show where it is located, down a narrow lane with only the view of the side of jewsons. It was quite noisy in the mornings due to people walking by and from the pub next door. If this cottage was located in a better area, we would give it a 9!. So sad it's where it is, but could see if as a plus as very near centre of Bowness.

Thank you for your comments, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed the cottage. We were unaware of the issue that you experienced with the WIFI, had we been made aware we would have attended. Thank you- The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

Terrace area a real suntrap and very private. Only the 2 of us and our little dog so didn't use the downstairs bedroom and dressing room. No signs of any unpleasant smells as mentioned in a previous review. Very well looked after, even outside areas swept and clean. Position of cottage is perfect, right in the heart of Bowness, about 100mts from lake and numerous eateries and takeaways on doorstep yet tucked away and quiet. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend.

Thank you for your kind comments. We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you back. Property Owner

  • "This cottage was well presented, however misleading with the front photograph."

On entering the property there was an overpowering smell which seemed like cat pee that permeated through the property. It was like this throughout the visit. It did spoil our stay. We did mention it to the office twice. Also lack of instructions for heating, appliances and music system.

Thank you for your feedback. We are looking in to the issues raised. Property Owner

  • "We’ve been coming to workshop cottage for nearly 7 years at the same time every year and loved it but when quoted over a £1000 plus when trying to book for next year and then being told if we come a day later 5th January 2024 for 4 days it will be £650 we made the decision not to rebook because as lovely as it is it isn’t worth that price for where it is placed - noise of the bins which was worse this year and no on-site parking - I have no objection to parking on the road with a permit but for that price I would accept on site parking ."

Also have you turned the temperature of the water down ? It never really got hot for a bath or shower like in previous years . Would have been willing to return for £500 for 4days at that time of year . We did take the opportunity to look at other providers and cottages in the area and for £600 we can get 3 bedrooms on site parking - 4 days stay - we viewed these cottages as well so know what we would be getting

  • "One of the nicest and best kept cottages I've ever stayed in."

A comfortable and very relaxing place. It undersells itself a little- it is opposite a very good cinema and a good bus stop with a regular service that will take you down the hill to the lake and to Windermere town, Ambleside, and to Grasmere. You can pay by card and get an all day rider so you can use the bus as much as you like. This should be in the description as it is a major selling point!

Accommodation was as described and very well presented. The owners have made very good use of the space and furnished to a high standard. Cottage very clean also. The cottage is in a central location so no need to use the car if you don’t want to. The lack of parking may be an issue for some but was not an issue for us as we were able to offload at the door and got a space on street most of the time. Overall would definitely stay again.

Thankyou for the lovely feedback we are very happy as owners that any negativity is taken on board we absolutely get the parking issue , but we are glad you had a lovely time and you may consider to stay again . Regards Claire Property Owner

Bowness is lovely and shops ,restaurants and pubs within walking distance so good location. As mentioned by others very hot in upstairs bedroom. Parking bit hit and miss even with permit. Bin situation a bit confusing as not clear what goes in bin liner as mixed waste and recycling. Didn’t find cottage straight away as had to park car and locate by walking. Tip for others renting this cottage is take first right before Jewsons . Enjoyed our break immensely even though rained most days .

There have been a few decorative alterations since we were last there. We found the property comfortable and homely. A few minor issues such as there was a mug that was chipped and also a glass that was chipped I would have thought these should have been replaced. There was also only 1 toilet roll for 4 people for a week which we thought was a bit stingy seeing as it’s quality accommodation. The milk was out of date in the sachets that were in the tea/coffee box. A number of the spot lights in the lounge were not working.

It was furnished to a high specification and although we did not use all its facilities it was very well equipped. Although no garden it had the bonus of a patio off the lounge which was great on sunny days. The only problem others may encounter is that there is permit parking and Bowness is a very busy town so not always many available spaces.

However when we arrived we could not access the Wifi. We spoke to Lakelovers and were told that the owner would visit the property to resolve the following day (Saturday) When we returned in the evening there was still no Wifi, nor any evidence that anyone had attempted to correct the problem. Furthermore we had no communcation from Lakelovers/Owners regarding how the situation was to be resolved. Both my partner and I had taken work to be completed during our stay in the Lakes and were unable to do so. We are disappointed by the lack of Wifi and angered by the lack of response communication from Lakelovers.

We loved the luxurious, high-end spec of the cottage, with super-comfortable beds, while having a lovely cosy and homely feel to it. It made our break really special. It was so lovely sitting on the balcony, having a drink as the sun was going down and the patio heater was a lovely touch too. I loved how there was so much light coming in through all the dormer windows. I would love to come back and stay again at this beautiful cottage. It's location is also great for wondering into town and being near to the lake.
