"Lovely cottage in a perfect location ."
How ever the heating system is uncontrollable , and made our stay uncomfortable. Also the water heats up in the middle of the night and us very noisy. I think that maybe the thermostat isn't working as the water is far too hot.
And lastly the fridge isn't working properly causing food to freeze in the fridge.
In the garden shrubs by patio are very overgrown and guttering is leaking above bedroom .
Mattress needs replacing.
Hope these comments are useful and if sorted out I would love to return here .
But wouldn't come again until sorted .

"Had an amazing week at Riverside Cottage."
Great location, local walks, in driving distance of many scenic rambles/walks. Ambleside Village & pubs / resturants in local area should you wish to eat out, although everything you need in the cottage to be self sufficient for a cozy night in. Beautiful garden to sit in,very quiet and peaceful. Very dog friendly place. Definately looking to return again soon.

"This is a very run down property the fixtures and fittings need some TLC couldn’t use toaster as really old and not clean, shower leaked although good pressure and bed was really uncomfortable think it requires a new mattress we had 3 nights booked but left after the second night."

"Lovely location on edge of Ambleside but found the house very hot and stuffy."
Boiler also came on very early am, it's right next to the bedroom and disturbed sleep. Shower also dripped continuously which didn't help. One toilet roll for the week? Seemed a bit mean. Would have been nice to have some basics in the cupboard when we arrived after a long journey instead of having to go out and purchase a load of stuff, like salt, sugar, tea, coffee, oil etc just so we could have a drink and a bite to eat. Yes loads of places to eat out, but you don't want to do this all the time. Extra bits in the kitchen needed eg a smaller bowl for microwave, more plates, etc. Would have been useful to have bedside lights so you could read in bed. Cushions on sofa need replacing, bit thin to do their job.
Lovely garden which we enjoyed. Accommodation was simple but adequate and didn't cost the earth for its location. With some small inexpensive changes, it could be vastly improved. Thank you for the sunflowers, that was a nice touch.

"The property is in a nice location, about 10-15 minute walk from central Ambleside."
The property itself was very nice and clean on entry (we were worried upon reading reviews that it would be dirty but they seem to have fixed this).
The kitchen provides everything you will need eg plates bowls pots and pans, cooking utensils etc. the only downside is we couldn’t get the oven to work, it wouldn’t turn on, which was frustrating. The garden is really the highlight of the property, it is beautiful and very private, the dog loved it.
The bedroom is clean and sweet, a hairdryer was provided. However the only downside is the bed is not very comfortable at all, we did struggle to sleep. The pillows are also very hard. The shower has good pressure and temperature range. Again very clean.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and it is a good basic property for the Lake District and provided what we needed to enjoy our time. Thank you!
Hi thanks for the review , however the oven needs resetting after turning off at the mains, the guidance to set the clock which enables the oven to work is posted on the wall to the left of the oven its very easy to reset. Some people sleep well all depends on your mattress liking, so we bought one to probably suit most people.

The cleanliness on the other hand are not.
I had to call to have the cleaning service come back after the bath was left dirty. Despite my also pointing out the number of cobwebs (and spiders) in the bathroom, this was not resolved.
After returning from dinner the first night, further issues were discovered. Large cobwebs on the TV stand, the bedding was dirty and the rubbish bin full.
Unless Sykes can solve the cleaning issues, I would not use them again.

"Great location, lovely garden."
Would have appreciated a "welcome pack" with information about waste / re-cycling, emergency contacts (doctor / vet) instructions for the appliances and recommendations re restaurants etc in the area.
The property felt a little bit "unloved", but we did have a lovely holiday with many great walks on the doorstep

"Compared to other properties I’ve stayed in, not good."
Badly provisioned (no condiments or welcome pack of any kind), all a bit tired and grubby, not everything worked (bathroom fan for example), no WiFi is poor, and only very basic equipment. Not worth the money.
Your feedback leaves a lot to be desired you were aware the cottage had no wifi there are ample kitchen equipment, perhaps you may need a 5 star and pay more m oney if you have it.

"What a great place to stay - so peaceful and quiet - away from the hustle and bustle of Ambleside but within a very short walking distance to it if you want to shop, eat out , have coffee etc, catch the local buses."
Views of the Fells and river from the back and front. Spacious kitchen, dining area and living room. A lovely garden and patio area to enjoy if you are lucky with the weather !.Some great walks over the fells from the cottage - no need to use your car. We have ear marked this place to stop again if it is available next time we visit Ambleside.

"Would highly recommend this cottage brilliant setting and area."
The comfort and high quality interior superb all you need to take is your clothes and food as everything in the cottage is provided from all utensils, cooking pots, etc good quality bedding linen towels etc. Games, DVDs ,CDs , books local information. Had the most wonderful stay there and so enjoyed the garden watching the many local birds etc. We certainly look forward to booking again for a return stay.

"We were really happy with the property."
It met the needs of 2 adults and 2 elderly small dogs. Spotlessly clean but a little tired with a bit of mould around the grouting.
Basic kitchen facilities but was surprised there was no salt, pepper, oil etc available. Another toilet roll would be appreciated!

"Lovely little cottage."
A few things needed for us to want to return, WiFi, new TV (signal on aerial kept going) welcome pack (most places at least have wash up liquid) and the heating was a pain, needed it on but was hot at the wrong times! These bits would have elevated it to somewhere we wouldn't hesitate to return , the location is excellent , lovely and cosy , great garden especially for dogs.

"I was very impressed with the care and attention paid to the accommodation."
There was everything needed for my stay and the surroundings were very pleasant. The steps to the garden were rather steep and could do with a hand rail fitted for safety.

"We loved the location and views."
However the cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
The kitchen , dirty eggs cups, mould on the bread bin, dirty frying pans.
The bathroom was really grubby, floors and the shower area all need a refurb, the shower was no the best.
The garden was lovely but you could not enjoy the views from the patio due to two large shrubs blocking the view.
Not even a little welcome pack of a coffee or tea. This was the first time ever. For the prices charged I would of expected a little more effort.
Overall we would come the the beautiful area again, but not stay here.
I am sorry to hear of your bad experience we employ Sykes cottagesa to do the cleaning its obvious they are not doing their job
