    “Damson Barn is wonderful.”

It is located in the middle of the countryside with sheep bleating around you (wonderfully surreal whilst you are in the jacuzzi!) and with a working farm next door. It is located in the middle of the countryside with sheep bleating around you (wonderfully surreal whilst you are in the jacuzzi!) and with a working farm next door. The friendly and helpful owners have thought of everything in this modern barn conversion and the Barn was spotlessly clean. We were very comfortable and made good use of the lovely log fire. The owners greeted us on arrival but then kept their distance unless we wanted directions or information then they were very friendly and helpful. Farmer Michael was also very patient with our many questions about the animals on the farm and in the adjacent fields. Whilst you do need a car to reach Damson Barn there are also some lovely walks directly from the Barn to local villages. Alternatively, other villages with a lot of choices to eat/drink and supermarkets are only a short drive away. For a slightly longer journey (about 45 mins), the Lakes are certainly worth a visit; they are amazing. We will certainly be booking again. .

The property

Damson Barn is simply a beautiful barn conversion in a stunning countryside location, just outside the popular town of Kirkby Lonsdale and set within a working farm.

With its own hot tub, sunny patio and peaceful setting, there is no better place to spend time with the family.

Over two floors, the barn boasts a light, airy sitting room with log burner, comfy sofas and French doors out onto the patio and garden.

The kitchen is delightful and well-equipped, including a collection of appliances, and underfloor heating to warm those cooler nights.

The dining area looks over the patio and garden, and benefits from patio doors which can be opened on a sunny evening bringing the garden into the house.

Upstairs discover the two bedrooms, one with a super king-size double bed and an en-suite shower room, whilst the second features a superking size that is zip/link and can be twin beds.

There is also a lovely family bathroom.

The barn boasts an open grassy garden and patio with a hot tub in a secluded corner, the perfect place to relax after a day exploring all that the local area has to offer.

Damson Barn forms part of a friendly family working farm where guests can enjoy the day to day farming life, there is also plenty to do locally.

The town of Kirkby Lonsdale is only three miles down the road, guaranteed to keep you busy with local shops and sights to uncover.

Have a quiet walk down to the river past the beautiful church of St Mary’s, pausing to take in ‘Ruskin’s View’ and then potter back along the river to Devils Bridge.

Ingleton is seven miles away, being the gateway to the Dales and then Hawes and Settle.

In the opposite direction is Kendal, the Gateway to the Lakes and Windermere.

All in all, a great Barn to stay on a genuine working farm amongst some of the most beautiful and peaceful countryside in the North West.

About the location

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country’.
