  • "Convenient, comfortable, warm and spacious in a great location."

  • "Fell View was a lovely flat, part of a conversion of a large country house."

Excellent location for seeing the area and a quiet, peaceful spot to relax. Very comfortable, including the sofas and beds. Lovely views from the terrace. Cleaning was generally good but a few points worth note - Inside of the bathroom cupboard was dirty with a grubby recent electric toothbrush ring on the shelf, and lights were festively adorned with cobwebs. There was no welcome pack, a first for us in many years of self catering, and no specialist cleaning products left in respect of the toilet/septic tank, although we were left an empty bottle and clear instruction's ! There were no arrangements in place to change linen in the middle of the fortnight, and when we requested this they didn't turn up on the agreed day. They did apologise and show the next day though after another call.

  • "This property was perfect for us, location just a few mins drive from Ambleside where there are a good selection of shops and restaurants."

The property is spacious and very well equipped with everything you need for a self catering holiday. As someone else has also mentioned there is a slight damp smell in wardrobe in the main bedroom but that didn’t worry us we didn’t use it we used the wardrobe and drawers in the second bedroom. Plenty of birds in the garden to watch from the raised decking area, we took a nut feeder with us and hung on the fence by the gate in the garden it didn’t take long for the birds to find it! Fell View was ideal for the 2 of us we had a very enjoyable week based there and exploring the Lake District. We would definitely stay again if returning to the area.

  • "FOR SHARING: This is a traditionally built Lakeland house carved up into 7 holiday flats with plenty of garden space and even a gate from the garden to a footpath through woods."

We saw a tawny owl in those woods several times which was delightful. It was set high up off the road so I felt that my dogs were safe out at the front (shared with one other flat) and even in the beautiful shared gardens too. The area was lovely. FOR PRIVATE SHARING WITH THE OWNERS: The property is damp, as you know, and no amount of air fresheners can mask the smell. The wardrobe and drawers in the main bedroom were lovely and new, but when we put clothes on in the morning they were freezing cold and felt wet. I saw the bug deterrent plug-in and wasn't left wondering why for long. The first morning in bed a small black mite was crawling towards me and no amount of bashing it with my book stopped it's continued movement. i couldn't even drown it in my tea. I had to pour boiling water on it to kill it. The worst was when one was crawling across my pillow. I didn't know what they were - I first thought bed bugs, then ticks but I looked them up and they are black mites that like damp. This made me very uncomfortable in my bed for sleeping. I couldn't relax properly and have come home short of sleep. I think it might help if your cleaners were given extra time to hoover more thoroughly in that bedroom; under the bed, bedside tables and the bed itself. I cannot emphasise how unpleasant it was sleeping in a bed with the occasional mite. I was checking for them all the time and shaking the bedding off before getting in. There wasn't any clean bedding to change that bed at the end of the week either (there was for the single beds). Some hand towels for the bathroom are essential and more tea towels would've been nice for a two- week stay.

Would definitely return. One note for dog owners - the gardens are not fully enclosed if this is important to you

  • "Great location for the Langdale Pikes, located just a few minutes drive from Ambleside."

Property is dog friendly. Lovely modern kitchen and nicely decorated comfortable lounge. Bedrooms and bathrooms are a little chilly in the colder months with night storage heaters in the hall and convection style heaters in the rooms needing to be turned up to the max. Slight damp issues in the cupboard in main bedroom room and a bit of a musty smell. Great dog walk from garden gate up onto fell behind. All in all nicely decorated, very clean, functional property. Ideal in summer months.

  • "A great location for walks without needing the car."

Take the small gate in the front garden into the woodland surrounding the property. Follow the Todd Crag path for beautiful views of Windermere at sunrise. From there you can drop down into Ambleside or walk further north for Loughrigg Fell and Grassmere. The apartment was a welcome retreat. Comfortable living room, well equipped kitchen, cosy bedrooms. The only disappointment was a fairly feeble shower but there is a bath if you prefer. Would definitely return!

  • "Lovely cottage in very quiet area."

Unfortunately (our fault) we arrived after dark so it was difficult to find the actual entrance, the outside lights weren’t that great , but we met someone staying next door who assisted. Comfortable living area, furniture seemed quite new. Extremely well equipped and immaculate kitchen and facilities ( only think missing was a whisk). Lovely decking area over shared garden and some great walks directly from the cottage. Could improve heating in the shower room as towel rail does not heat the room enough. Blinds in bathroom could be updated. Slept well in the comfortable bedroom with lots of storage for clothes. Overall, lovely cottage and would return and recommend.

  • "Lovely holiday but property did smell of damp with main bedroom being the worst so we stored our clothes in second bedroom."

Happy that a airer was supplied so we could dry our walking clothes and coats! Property could do with some TLC and more instructions as there were none apart from how to turn a heater on! Having said all that we still enjoyed our stay and loved the balcony although due to rain we only sat on it twice! All in all a lovely holiday

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us at Fell View. Thank you for making us aware of the damp smell in the property we take all comments seriously and will pass this on to the relevant department. We hope to welcome you again in the future. • "We very much enjoyed our stay in this great single level apartment which is in a very quiet location but with easy access to Ambleside."

Secure off street parking is also a big bonus. The apartment has a very well equipped kitchen and the master bedroom has a comfortable bed although pillows are a little bit past their best . The enclosed courtyard and the spacious back garden were great for our little dog to be let out in safety for toilet breaks. We visit The Lakes regularly and would happily book this apartment again if it is available. Thanks for a great stay

happy to find a fully stocked kitchen - choice of mugs, etc (we have stayed places where there are one mug/bowl/glass pp) and the washer/drier got used thanks to lake District weather! There was a little wear and tear esp in main bedroom and bathroom but this is possibly as end of season and wouldn't put us off coming back

  • "Lovely cottage with beautiful views."

Even had a baby deer visit the garden. Very comfortable. At the top of a steep drive and not easy to walk into Ambleside as a lot of traffic and no pavements. We got a taxi one day and were unable to get home due to taxis not running. Hawkshead taxis came to the rescue. All new furnishings etc. Only thing let it down was the cleanliness. Maybe not cleaned since last used but kitchen windowsill full of little flies and found moths flying around kitchen each morning and on bread/sugar bag. Despite removing, there were more next day. Large bedroom smelt damp and had mould around door. No heating in large bedroom as electric sockets didn't work. Plenty of cobwebs. Such a shame for a lovely property but easily fixed and didn't let it put me off. Perfect as a base to travel around the beautiful lake district.

  • "We were delighted with Fell cottage."

There was everything we needed and more! It made a perfect setting for a relaxing break. I had chosen the property because of the walk in shower for my elderly sister. As it happened she had a fall and couldn't come. Shower was excellent but I could have done with some sort of hand hold for the step down out. It would just give a bit of security. I held on to door frame but not ideal. Directions to house were good.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
