The only thing is access the steps upto the garden and the angle of the slope didn't make the garden completely usable Also the staircase and steps I to the bedrooms and bathroom Overall though a lovely property with generous welcome pack and extremely clean.

The location is excellent for the South Lakes and near some fine places to visit and wonderful countryside. The local shop is very well stocked as well. Also appreciated the text to let us know when the property was ready on day of arrival.

We have now stayed in many Sykes properties.

This was by far the best appointed and a delight to inhabit for a week. Shower, fridge, cooker, beds - all top notch. The location is very quiet and there is a bank of wild orchids 5 minutes walk away. As it happened the week was rather wet and so we were indoors much more than usual. This revealed the only very minor negative - we found the sofas rather uncomfortable after a while. The weather meant we couldn't enjoy the garden as we might have hoped, but it was beautifully maintained with a splendid collection of ferns and hostas and views of the high fells.

Our 4th holiday at Cinderbarrow Cottage.

It is an absolute gem of a holiday cottage. Extremely clean, cosy, warm, relaxed and homely. The weather was a bit mixed but can't expect anything else mid-November. We enjoyed car-free days doing the local walks straight from the door across to Sizergh and to the bird hide. And the bakery at Levens was well-used throughout the week! Thank you, we look forward to staying again soon.

Cinderbarrow is a spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage with a large pretty garden and great views. Susan and Peter have thought of everything you may need for your stay and the cottage and garden are well maintained and of a high standard. The private car park, just a few metres from the cottage, is ideal and the village of Levens was the perfect base for us to visit the surrounding attractions. We will be back.

Cinderbarrow Cottage was just perfect in every way.

It is extremely clean and well equipped with everything you could need. It is very comfortable and has plenty of storage space. It has a charming garden which it was so peaceful to sit in and enjoy. Location was ideal for us with proximity to Kendal and the Lakes. We also enjoyed a lovely visit to Sizergh Castle. The parking space was perfect and just a few steps from the cottage. The owners were so helpful and kind. We definitely would like to return again soon.

Cottage excellent as always, very clean and good friendly communication with owners. As weather was beautiful and warm we got a chance to sit out in the lovely garden which was a bonus.

This is our second stay at Cinderbarrow and found it as lovely as the first!

The accommodation is great... very clean. Their are plenty of equipment, but the cottage isn't cluttered with unnecessary items!!! The location is really handy for exploring the Lakes. A quick bus or drive gets you to the Ambleside area. Sizergh castle is 'round the corner'. Grange, Ulverston and Arnside are also close. Thanks for another lovely stay! We would recommend.

Excellent Walking Base.

Fabulous accommodation with everything you could possibly need. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Thank you for the thoughtful goodies too, much appreciated. Loved the patio area, a proper little sun trap and place to relax after a long day's walking. Overall an excellent base. Village shop an easy 15 minutes walk away. Bus stop for buses into Kendal, Bowness and Keswick an easy 20 minutes walk away. So much to see and do around here without travelling more than 15 minutes. Highlights for us included walks along Scout Scar, Whitbarrow, Arnside Knott, the Sedgwick Canal Towpath, the River Kent, and visits to Sizergh Castle and Gardens, Levens Hall and Kendal itself. Would definitely return!

This cottage provided the perfect setting for a week in the Lake District.

The owners made sure that we lacked for nothing. It was beautifully warm.

Great cottage, had everything.

Immaculately clean, high quality appliances, warm (and easy to turn down or increase the heating), somewhere for the bikes, a very useful place to store coats and boots with even a bench to sit down on whilst taking them off. We also appreciated the bath rather than a shower. The instructions for getting there were excellent, and the owners seemed very helpful, thoughtful and friendly. There is also a local very well stocked shop which was handy. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage.

Loved everything about this cottage.

The owners have managed to combine the character of an old Lakeland property with fantastic comfort to make this a fantastic place to stay. The cottage is superbly located for walking and accessing other parts of the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales etc. although we managed two long walks and a shorter walk from the cottage itself. It's superbly well equipped, has great parking and Levens village has a great shop. But the two words that kept running through our heads are Character and Comfort which combined to make our time at the cottage very relaxing.

Very comfortable beds and seats, Clear instructions provided for the TV remotes and all other technical stuff. Beautiful garden space with delightful views. If you're over six foot tall, be aware that there are several places where you need to make sure you duck!

Great location for exploring the lakes.

Being on south side means that you feel away from the hustle and bustle of Windermere but plenty to do. The cottage had plenty of space for a family of 4. The views from the terrace and garden are amazing, perfect for a morning tea and end of day drink. Plenty private parking and walked to great village play park. So many national trust places close by that occupied us for easily for a week!

Lovely cottage, well equipped and clean, in a great quiet location good for the Lakes and Leighton Moss.

I was really impressed with the high standard of the facilities in the cottage.

It has quality furniture and flooring throughout, a spacious modern bathroom and a very well equipped kitchen, including a large American style fridge-freezer. The owners supplied the user manuals for all the appliances and easy to use instructions for the TV and internet. They also provided a lovely welcome pack comprising tea, coffee, biscuits and milk. The location of the cottage is ideal for accessing the road network for the south and east of the Lake District.

Lovely cottage on the edge of the Lake District.

The property was really clean, comfortable and well equipped. Bike storage and parking are only 50yds away... and they is plenty of it! The property has really good WiFi, but no smart TV... a small niggle! One of the cleanest, most well maintained properties we have stayed in. We really enjoyed our stay.

Fridge is space age and has an Ice maker. Amazing views of Whitbarrow from the bench at the top of the garden. Nice to sit in the sun with a glass of wine on the patio. Beds v comfy and clean. Thank you very much will definitely stay again.

Fabulous cottage, beautifuly presented, clean, cosy and perfect for our needs.

As a family of four we enjoyed a hike out from the cottage and another from Windermere which is close by. The host was happy to help if needed.

We had an excellent holiday in this lovely cottage.

It has been modernised to a high standard with everything (and more than) we needed to enjoy our stay and is very clean. Susan and Peter were friendly and helpful but not at all intrusive. Bench at the top of the garden provides a great view of the surrounding area. Watch out for a couple of low beams! Levens is a pleasant village with an excellent shop and good access to all the attractions of the Lake District and further afield.

Very well equipped cottage, one of the best we have stayed in.

A handy village shop and pub was a bonus and the easy access to main roads to take us in any direction was a plus. Parking was easy. The area is lovely and unspoilt so we were very happy. One improvement we suggest is a power shower over the bath. Otherwise, everything was thoughtfully provided.

A lovely little cottage in a very quiet rural setting with fabulous views.

Mostly well equipped but could benefit from a hairdryer and perhaps an apron in kitchen everything else was at hand. Be warned if you have bad knees as the sofas are very low but comfy.

We just came back from a holiday in Cinderbarrow Cottage and we had a lovely time.

The cottage is lovely. It was spotlessly clean and the kitchen was extremely well stocked with everything we needed and more. The sofas were comfortable as were the beds. Bathroom is spacious with a lovely shower and big bath. The private parking space is extremely helpful. It was just a wonderful little holiday cottage in a gorgeous village and a perfect base to explore the south Lakes. Our 4 year old didn't want to leave. We will definitely be coming back.

Kitchen equipment of a very high standard and cottage very spacious. We loved the large beautiful garden and the fantastic views. The wildlife friendly garden, with bird feeders, bug hotel and bird boxes was really appreciated as we enjoyed sitting taking in the lovely scenery. Private parking nearby a real bonus. Lovely meal at the Hare and Hounds in the village, good coffee and food at Levens and Low Sizergh Barn nearby. Cottage was a perfect base for us as we had lots of favourite places to visit and all very close by. Will definitely come back. thanks for a great week.

A wonderful week in a superb cottage.

Exceptionally clean, comfortable, very well equipped and stylish. The welcome selection of tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and milk was most appreciated after our rather long eight hour journey from Norfolk. Only wish we had more time to make use of the lovely large garden with its sensational views. This is by far the best well appointed cottage we have stayed in for a while with Sykes. We found the area great for exploring the southern and mid Lakes. We had a very busy week as you will see from all the leaflets. Hope you don't mind but we left a selection of them in the drawer of the TV cabinet for your future guests as there were none. Thank you so much again.

Great stay before easter, thanks

I’ve stayed at Cinderbarrow 5 or 6 times now - because it is lovely.

The owner keeps it incredibly clean, it is looked after and cared for and everything you need is tucked away in easy to find places. I particularly love the box with candles and a torch should there be a power cut! It’s warm and comfy and lovely. Levens is a really nice village, and the Hare and Hounds pubs is great for food (do book - super popular on Friday and Saturday nights).

Cinderbarrow is a pretty cottage in a lovely location; warm and welcoming, with excellent facilities - a real home from home.

A great deal of care and attention has been taken by the owners to make you comfortable and provide everything you might need. There are plenty of great walks right from the door, but it isn’t far to the higher Lake District fells around the Windermere area if you want those. There’s a good village shop and local pub too. Can’t wait to come back!

Gorgeous cottage and extremely clean.

We visited with our twin babies, the property owners kindly provided a cot and extra high chair, this assisted in making our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Would love to visit again.

This was our second stay at delightful Cinderbarrow in the space of a few months.

It felt lovely to return to this comfortable, homely and well-equipped place. The owners clearly care about their cottage and guests. Once again we found the village and its pub very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed a variety of beautiful walks and days out in the area. We intend to return yet again before too long.

" The answer is most certainly YES. There is great attention to detail both in the finish to this property and the quality and quantity of the items that the owners have provided. It is located on the southern edge of the Lake District and therefore convenient to get to many areas. Certainly one of the best properties we have booked in recent years.

Cinderbarrow cottage is fabulous.

It is in a lovely little village about 20 minutes from Windermere. The cottage is so comfortable and cozy with absolutely everything you need the pictures on sykes site do not do it justice. I always take my own cleaning products but everything was provided. The cottage is so spotlessly clean one of the cleanest we have ever stayed in. We will definitely stay again when in the lake district. Do not over look this little gem of a property it is gorgeous.

We visited in early October and our weather was awful most of the time, but the cottage was warm, peaceful and comfortable.

It was very well equipped (especially the kitchen), with a lovely garden and convenient parking. Levens is an excellent centre for exploring the South Lakes and has a very well-stocked village shop. The owners were extremely helpful with a problem we caused for ourselves and responded the same day. They provided many thoughtful touches, which we appreciated.

9 mile). Quiet village, but we'll stocked shop, plenty of walks from doorstep. Altogether everything you would want of a holiday cottage.

A beautifully refurbished cottage, with excellent facilities, and a delightful garden incorporating a reasonably spacious patio area and a long sloping lawn with extensive views from the top.

Altogether an excellent location for the Eastern Lakes.

The Cottage is spacious and well equipped.

It is situated within peaceful surroundings and easy access for places to visit. The garden is very well kept with wonderful views from the seating at the top. The Patio area with adequate space for relaxing and dinning is perfect. A place we will return to.

Cosy, clean, and everything you need is neatly stored. Really beautiful garden too - it’s Hosta Heaven! Always feel instantly at home in Cinderbarrow.

Cinderbarrow Cottage is very comfortable and beautifully appointed with high quality furnishings, fittings and appliances.

The garden and patio area are lovely, with amazing views from the top of the garden. The owners have paid a lot of attention to detail and provide nice touches such as fresh flowers and bedside torches. The Levens village shop is very useful, stocking a wide variety of essentials and some excellent local produce.

Can't praise enough.

Firstly - the cottage is beautiful and very efficiently managed. However, it is the eye for details and little things that often matter the most. Susan and Peter are wonderful hosts. We were with a 3.5 year old driving all the way from the south - so a bottle of milk in the fridge was a very warm welcome when we arrived late in the evening. The tasty biscuits and coffee are very much appreciated as well. The views from the house are fantastic. The garden is big enough for children to run around and have fun. It is also very well maintained. Having breakfast watching the birds can be a perfect holiday experience in the Lake District. The location of the village - Levens - is great. It is very close to Kendal and the whole of the Lake District is within driving distance. We went around a lot and my 3.5 year old had a great time exploring the lakes and woodlands. In relation to us fighting a pandemic, we felt completely safe in this house. Lastly, for folks traveling with kids, the children's park in the village is fantastic. For us it became the highlight of each day irrespective of what great woodland trail we walked in the rest of the day! Thank you very much!!

Owner very helpful regarding key collection.

Place was spotless so we felt safe in view of Covid precautions. Owner had kindly left everything needed to get started for our week as well as good stock of cleaning materials. Nice to have enough crockery to make use of the dishwasher. Because of very cold weather we didn't do as much walking as usual but some beautiful drives through stunning scenery with snow on the hills and a few walks around the village and nearby with plenty of varieties of birds to see. All in all a great week.

This is the second time that we have stayed at Cinderbarrow Cottage , and hopefully it won’t be the last.

It’s one of those places where , after a day out “doing your thing “ , you can go in , shut the door and leave all your troubles behind you. Our visit this year was accompanied by atrocious weather conditions and so the heated boot / cloakroom was just fantastic. I could go on and on , but all I can say is thanks to both the owners of the cottage , and Sykes’s for making our week so comfortable.

Loved the wildlife friendly garden (bug hotel, bird feeders and resident hedgehog), conservatory with masses of coat hooks and place for walking boots, well equipped kitchen (great fridge freezer with ice maker etc) and a sense of the locality (natural history and walking books and beautiful Heaton Cooper prints on the walls)

Idyllic garden attracting wildlife and with amazing views. Superb location. The cottage was one of the best I have ever stayed in after 20 yrs of using holiday cottages.

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed at through Sykes or anywhere.

Could quite happily move in! Spacious, homely, spotlessly clean, with everything provided - even a boot room which was very useful. The highlight was the amazing outdoor area where we spent many hours, either eating meals on the lovely terrace or enjoying the beautiful garden and views and watching the local wildlife. Levens was the perfect location to visit most of the Lake District and not too far to hop over to Yorkshire. Lovely village with great local pub. Don't miss out on Sizergh Farm Shop which we visited many times, and also Levens Hall.

Cinderbarrow cottage was wonderful.

So clean, such lovely appliances and decor and obviously a cottage much loved and cared for by its owners. Nicest cottage I’ve stayed in through Sykes hands down.

Perfect cottage, everything we could have wished for.

The first time ever we had loads of toilet paper as well as everything else. The garden was amazing and a big bonus as we were lucky with the weather we were able to eat on the patio each evening. Even the neighbours were friendly.we would give Cinderbarrow 100%. Well done and thank you all.

An ideal cottage for us with a garden that we could have enjoyed more had the weather been better.

It was positioned in a good spot for us to visit the places we had planned to see. Not life threatening but a hairdryer would have been helpful.

A great little cottage in an excellent location .

It was a place where you looked forward to returning to in the late afternoon/early evening , after a hard day’s walking or shopping ,etc ,etc. By using the road through the Lyth valley such places as Bowness,Windermere and Ambleside were within easy reach. The garden wasn’t used because we visited in February but at least we walked to the bench to savour the views. This cottage has it all , even a room to put your boots on before the day’s walk starts. The large bathroom and excellent kitchen were a welcome feature. All in all a great property where we will certainly return to. Thanks to all concerned.

This was our second stay at this cottage and once again we were amazed at the high standard.

The owners obviously take great pride in this property and as I said last time I could live here quite happily and wouldn't change a thing. Often a second visit somewhere doesn't live up to the memories of the first time but here it just felt so right once more. We'll be back for sure !

Loved this cosy well equipped cottage and the views from the top of the garden are amazing.

Many different varieties of birds visit the garden and you can feed the local hedgehog although elusive. Handy for visiting a family member in the village of Levens and local pub and village shop a short walk. Quiet location for visiting the area and lakes. The Lakeland Motor museum at Ulverston a good day out and can recommend the Ship Inn on Bowness in Windermere for a view of the lake and good value food and service. The Freedom pass will take you from Haverthwaite by train to the Lakeland stop for a cruise up Lake Windermere or you can hop off at other stops up the lake. Ulverston has a good supermarket - Booths and the Lakeland Glass Blowing factory, very interesting. Also a good quality mountain warehouse for any extra walking & clothing accessories. Coniston is beautiful with the usual tea shops too quieter than Windermere Ambleside and Keswick, so many othere places I didn't do on this visit. Will be back hopefully to this cottage again

Cinderbarrow cottage was so comfortable and welcoming and a perfect base for exploring the lake district.

The owners were very welcoming and we felt very at home in their lovely clean cottage.

We stayed in Cinderbarrow 27th April-3rd May.

We had a great week exploring the Lake District, weather was dry for the week. The cottage was great with gas central heating, wifi internet which was probably only rated at 2gb download speed. The cottage was a very high spec with light oak furnature throughout. The bed was wonderfully comfy. The area has marvelous views and is very quiet. There is a hedgehog house in the garden and they eat a full bowl of food a day. Must be greedy critters :)

Cinderbarrow Cottage was a perfect home from home.

Just a delight to stay there and to have the owners so close at hand when we had a query. Would definitely stay again and would certainly recommend to friends and family this cottage and Sykes as an organisation.

The Cottage is very well appointed, except for the lack of an iron and ironing board, odd, when there is a washer/dryer!

For decent views you have to climb up the incline in the garden. The large garden overlooks other houses, slightly intimidating for the residents. The Cottage itself is excellent, comfortable beds, excellent heating system, large American style fridge/freezer and WI-FI. If you are on 02 Mobile, the signal is fine. The local shop in Levens is excellent, so to the local Public House, the 'Hare and Hounds' which serves good food. Kendal is difficult to negotiate in a car and full of Charity shops. Go through Natland to Oxenhome Station and you can avoid Kendal!

Such a warm and homely cottage with plenty of comforts.

Enough space for a family of four with a surprisingly large garden. Not too far from some wonderful walks and the view over whitbarrow on a clear day is beautiful. Plenty of off road parking and the neighbours are all friendly. We are definitely considering visiting this beautiful place again.

High standards of cleanliness, decoration and facilities. Lot's of little extras kindly left by the owners that added to the feeling that their visitors matters.

It was really cosy and beautifully presented and had everything we needed for a fabulous few days we didn’t want to leave!! Thanks to the owners for leaving fresh flowers and biscuits and tea on arrival very nice touch!

I would have ticked exceeded expectations but that attribution I believe should be merited to the owners rather than Sykes.

We have used Sykes many times now and have never been disappointed but this property exceeded all that we have had previously. My partner and myself both said we would happily move in permanently and not change anything, it was perfect !

Beautiful cottage in a great location with lovely views across the valley. Garden was gorgeous. We sat out at night just watching the sunset. Very peaceful and relaxing.

What a beautiful cottage!

Modernised to a superb standard, it was welcoming and gave more than we expected; so many thoughtful touches! The cottage is in an ideal position to visit all parts of the Lake District, with local walks and a good village shop. The weather was excellent and we took advantage of the beautiful garden and BBQ facilities. We felt at home and everything came together to make the holiday perfect.

An exceptionally well-decorated, furnished and well-equipped cottage with all the comforts of home, and great to see such attention to detail.

The cottage has only recently been refurbished and everything is to a very high standard. Kind welcome gifts of milk, tea (Yorkshire!) and biscuits were most thoughtful. The only addition that would have been appreciated was a washing line or similar to give us the pleasure of outside clothes-drying (and save on energy)! Brilliant location for walking in the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Howgill Fells and around Morecambe Bay, with fast access to Kendal for shopping.
