We have stayed in some lovely cottage’s over the years but Old Bell Works is by far the best and it does not surprise me that all the guests that have stayed in this wonderful cottage have given 5 star reviews .

We chose this cottage based on the reviews and the fantastic website pictures and we most certainly wasn’t disappointed.Paula and Brian have really created something special including a very spacious and spotless interior with everything you could wish for .As for outside the glorious covered hot tub and family dining area complete with a lovely gas bbq and then the rear garden is huge ,private and completely enclosed. Would like to thank Paula and Brian for a truly wonderful holiday and we will certainly be back in the future.

I can honestly say this is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. In a beautiful location, this cottage offers everything you need for the perfect holiday. The garden is stunning! We loved the hot tub and table tennis. We highly recommend this top quality accommodation and we're sad to leave.

Incredibly well equipped, the owners have thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. The garden is huge and completely enclosed, perfect for our puppy. We enjoyed the peace and quiet and we even saw bats and an owl. Would recommend the house to anyone looking for a peaceful holiday.

The property is excellent one of the best we have been in , the garden is great for the dog and relaxing in , also the owner keeps in touch before and just when you are about to leave to check if everything is ok , cant fault this property at all

Paula and Brian went out of their way to provide a home away from home experience with lots of little personal touches such as the welcome hamper which was extremely generous as well as the numerous decorative elements which were fun to discover during our stay.

The Old Bell Works was even better than expected, with 3 comfortable bedrooms, a large open living space which combined the old cottage feel with modern conveniences such as the folding doors opening out into a large garden ideal for dogs and their families! Paula was an attentive host with great communication before and during our stay, without being intrusive, to ensure that we were having the best holiday possible. This was genuinely the best property we’ve stayed in and we’d thoroughly recommend it for anyone looking to explore the southern Lake District, Lancaster and the local coastline. There’s nothing that can be improved upon as far as we were concerned!

Another fantastic stay!

The accommodation is 5 star and the hosts are brilliant. We have stayed here several times and and will be back again next year. We have rented a lot of holiday homes in the past and this is, by far, the best that we have ever stayed in. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a great base for their holiday!

We had a family holiday together and the accommodation was fabulous.

Such a beautiful property and garden. Everything you needed in the kitchen and more. Excellent hot tub that we all made use off and lovely al fresco dining. We would love to make a return visit sometime.

The house was excellent, everything provided.

The beds were extremely comfortable, the bi-folding doors are such an asset. Inside and outside games provided, hot tub was great and the garden was huge. It was lovely and quiet and the host was always on hand if required, nothing was too much trouble but never intrusive. I would highly recommend staying here and I would definitely return.

Everything we could have wanted was provided. The cottage was warm, plenty of hot water and towels and extremely comfortable The space was great for 3 adult couples. Great communication before, during and after our stay from Paula and Brian. Thank you.

This property is absolutely gorgeous, the attention to detail is amazing and you can really see the love that the owners have put in.

The facilities that old bell works offers is incredible the beautiful garden which our dog loved running about, the hot tub, barbecue and the ping pong table which can be used no matter thr weather as it is all under cover. All of the rooms are immaculate and the owners are absolutely lovely who are on thr other end of the phone if you need them. We truly loved our stay here as a family and we will definitely be returning. thank you again and we will see you soon

Old Bells Works was just fabulous!

The owners were so lovely and got in touch in advance of our stay and even helped in providing me with an extensive list of nice restaurants that I'd asked about. When we first arrived on the really stormy Friday night it was wonderful to open the door into this beautiful cottage! The lights were on, including the pretty fairy lights, it was lovely and warm, and there was a gorgeous smell, it was so welcoming! The whole weekend was just perfect. The cottage is decorated to perfection and it's clearly looked after so well. It was absolutely spotlessly clean. Everywhere is so modern and immaculately furnished but it also has a lovely cosy cottage feel too. It's brilliant that each bedroom has their own spacious bathroom so everyone can relax. Even little touches like having dressing robes and sliders for the hot tub are just brilliant! I can't recommend it highly enough, we'd all love to return and we loved the cute little mice round the cottage! So cute! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

It’s wonderful

We stayed at this beautiful cottage for a week — four of us and wee Ollie.

The cottage is absolutely lovely: comfortable, well-equipped, and full of charm. The beds were cozy, and the sofas were perfect for relaxing after a day out. We especially loved the twinkly lights that made the evenings feel so warm and inviting along with having the fire on. Ollie adored the garden and spent plenty of time by the bi-fold doors, hoping to spot a furry visitor. We had great fun discovering all the little mice hidden around the cottage — and of course, we couldn’t resist adding another one to the collection! A truly wonderful stay — we can’t wait to return and we have recommended it to friends

We recently had the pleasure of staying here for a week.

Our party of 6 arrived in 3 separate cars. From pulling onto the spacious drive we were impressed. This house will not disappoint you. We opened the front door to be wowed by the twinkle of decorative lights and welcoming aromas. The house is beautifully arranged with astounding attention to detail throughout. Another great stay at Old Bell Works!

It really is a lovely house to rent and the owners are fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay in the area and we will be back next year (we like it so much!)

Had a fantastic stay from start to finish.

Paula, the owner, kept in touch from before we arrived to see if we had any needed and throughout our stay to see if we needed anything. Everything you need is there from milk on our arrival and massive hamper full of goodies to toothbrush and toothpaste in every bathroom. It is a real gem in peaceful and tranquil village. Found the beds to be really nice in nice big rooms and nice spaces showers. Really great dog friendly garden so the dog could run round freely, with a seating area for that morning coffee, listening to the birds. Would go back tomorrow if we could, but you can see why it is always so popular

This looked like a beautiful cottage on the listing but the reality was even better than we expected.

It was really cosy and comfortable and a great base for going out and about in Lancashire.

Gorgeous cottage with fantastic facilities.

We have stayed in numerous Sykes Cottages and this was best equipped of all we have stayed at. Absolutely loved the outside area with dining table, BBQ and hot tub - all covered and sheltered from the wind. You may need to travel a bit to visit places of interest but the cottage is a fantastic base.

We loved the garden and the hot tub was amazing. We all agreed the beds where so comfy, having your own bathroom was great. We all had a great time, making lots of memories.

What a beautiful cottage Paula and Brian have created It just left us speechless when we walked through the door.

Everything has been done to a high spec and nothing is too much trouble for the owners. The massive enclosed garden is fantastic and our grandson and dog loved running about with us knowing they were safe. The hot tub under the canopy was fantastic to relax in after long days out on the nearby beach’s of st Anne’s,Fleetwood and Blackpool. All in all it was just a fantastic stay in a wonderful cottage and in all the years we have been hiring cottages for our holidays this is by far the best we have stayed in and wouldn’t hesitate to book again if staying in the area. Well done Paula and Brian.

This was our second visit to The Old Bell works, absolutely loved it once again, cottage is well equipped comfortable and definitely a 5 star+ stay.

The owners are always on hand to answer any queries/questions, the hot tub is a dream and super relaxing after a day of sight seeing, our dog Charley loves the garden, it’s so big, enclosed and very well kept. The beds are super comfortable and the bedding very plush, I would not hesitate in any way to recommend this property to anyone and will definitely be back! We read a lot of the previous feedback before booking this accommodation and so had very high expectations, but we were certainly not disappointed.

On the contrary, we were impressed by the amount of love, care and attention to detail which has gone into creating this beautiful home from home. Thank you for a perfect stay.

Definitely the best holiday property we have rented.

The cottage is very comfortable, warm and every need met. Both the inside and garden are stunning. Hot tub - important for us - was checked each morning by owner. Robes, towels and slippers supplied (first time ever!). Lovely garden furniture with games - two 18 year old grandchildren had an amazing time.. All bedrooms were beautifully presented- nice bedding and, again lots of little extras. Nice en-suite shower rooms - very modern with good toiletries.and fluffy towels.. dog friendly with towels,, etc provided. Fully fenced very large garden for safety. Owners live close by and are both really helpful if needed.. Highly recommend and we all want to return - 3 generations from 18 to 81!

This is by far one of the nicest properties that we have stayed in!

So comfortable, clean and cosy! There was everything provided that you needed and more. As soon as we walked in we were instantly relaxed. The owner was so friendly and helpful, nothing was a bother. Jacuzzi was fabulous and so well maintained by the owner. We would 100% recommend this property!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Outstanding property and better than the pictures.

Very dog friendly and spotless. Refurb has been carried out to an extremely high standard with quality fittings and fixtures. Wish we could have stayed longer. We spent Christmas week here and the owners went all out to decorate before our arrival. Would be very happy to return.

Booked here for our annual girly work friends trip that we have done the last 3 years.

Picked due to location not being too far from home and hot tub being an essential requirement. When we arrived it felt so cosy and warm. Very clear guide with instructions etc. Kitchen very well equipped and again loved the open plan layout. Everything seemed to have been thought of like sliders for going to the hot tub and towels especially for the hot tub. Never been anywhere that does that and made a big difference. All in all we had a very relaxing weekend and there was plenty of space. Paula and Brian were so friendly and helpful in the lead up to us arriving and answered any questions promptly. Will definitely return hopefully in the future. Lovely cosy group house for families and chilled out groups.

We have just spent the most wonderful and relaxing week at The Old Bell Works cottage, and firstly have to send huge thanks to Paula and Brian and their family for creating such a special place.

From the moment you walk through the front door you get the feeling that you are being embraced by a warm and very comforting giant hug! We loved everything about it, so much so we could easily have moved in permanently! There is so much to love about this property, the decor, the beams, the stone work, the log fire, the very comfortable beds, the hot tub, the very generous and secure garden which our dog loved, and also for any horse lovers like myself you could sometimes spot them in the stable yard just behind the cottage from the open plan living area window. The other special thing about this place is the details, the little felt mice, the toy animals and pumpkins, all dotted around and in some unexpected places, and the beautiful light up tree in the hallway with the animal decorations, the throws (even for the dog too!), the hamper basket, all these touches were so lovely and made it feel so homely. The surroundings are also so peaceful, if you are after a place to be quiet and recharge the batteries this is for you. If anyone is reading through all of the (great) reviews weighing up whether to book or not (like we did!) I would say this to you - Do not hesitate! Get it booked...we are sure you will love it as much as we did! Thank You once again Paula, Brian & Family for an amazing stay ❤️

This is our third visit to the property so we must be pleased with it.

Great house plenty of room, nice big fenced garden for our our dog Seeker, no problem with bringing a dog, just follow the rules, Plentiful supply of hot water at a good pressure for the showers, Hot tub great for that soak at the end of the day. The owners Paula and Brian were excellent, They were available when need but not mithering.

The facilities were perfect and the garden fabulous with plenty of areas to sit and relax.

The hot tub was lovely and having robes, towels and shoes provided was a great touch. The walk over the fields and through the maize field to the pub was just the right distance but the terrain not good for those who are unstable on their feet as there is a gate to climb over and a narrow bridge. The Old Bell Works is a beautiful place to stay for 2 and 4 legged visitors…..would definitely recommend it and stay there again.

The cottage was extremely comfortable and had everything you needed. The hot tub and BBQ area was fantastic, it was all under cover, so no matter the weather you could still enjoy the outside life. Paula and Brian were very friendly and made you feel at home. It was really peaceful at all times and felt really relaxed in this wonderful cottage. Would thoroughly recommend Old Bell Works for a stay and handy for visiting lots of interesting places Lancashire has to offer. Would love to go back.

An excellent property which really is a home from home with everything you could require whilst away.

The property is fantastic, beautifully decorated and homely with comfy beds and plenty of space to relax in. The secure garden is lovely with a huge area for the children and dog to run around in with comfy outdoor seating, BBQ and hot tub which are all in excellent condition and well maintained. The owners are lovely, checking in on us via text and letting us know about events happening in the local area and nothing is too much trouble.

This was our second stay at this lovely cottage, and we enjoyed it even more.

Our son has a physical disability, but he managed the ground-floor shower with the aid of a perching shower chair. He loved the ground-floor bedroom. We travelled to different places each day and researched where was accessible and dog-friendly. For families like us, we recommend some areas you might like to try. Many thanks for our stay xox.

Old Bell Works will not disappoint in any way, shape or form.

We have just returned from spending a week in this gorgeous property and have loved everything about it. It's the most comfortable, homely, cosy, well thought out property by far that we have stayed in. The property owners have quite clearly thought of literally everything to make your stay as home from home as possible. This property allows pets and we feel the need to mention that there was no smell whatsoever or any evidence that dogs have been in the property - amazing. Thank you Paula & Brian for creating this gem, you should be very proud.

We have stayed in many Sykes Cottages but The Old Bell Works has been the best yet.

It is well presented and in excellent condition inside and out. The beds are comfortable with cosy matress toppers and crisp white sheets. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could possibly need for self-catering. Lots of channels on the TV, good WiFi reception, and selection of games available. Covered hot-tub and outdoor seating was great, even in the rain. The owners go the extra mile with small details and clearly care that you have a perfect holiday. Plenty of attractions for all ages within a 20-30 min drive. Highly recommended.

The hot tub was hot and ready to jump in as soon as we arrived which we absolutely did, and didn't miss a single day without spending some time in it. I rented this fabulous cottage to escape the the hustle and bustle of life.

. and i was not disappointed… on arrival we had a lit log burner going cosy lights the cottage was warm and welcoming after a 12 hour drive. Fresh milk and juice and a whole hamper full of goodies to get us through breakfast was a doddle. The cottage its self was outstandingly beautiful immaculately clean and to say it was comfortable was an understatement.. with added perks a wonderful garden beautifully lit up at night and an amazing hot tub. The owners them selfs went above and beyond to ensure we had all we needed for our stay plenty of information on things to do around the area.. we took full advantage of the cottage and stayed in a couple of days it was just perfect i can not wait to re book i would 1000% recomend this little gem to any one. My party consisted of a wheelchair user a 6 month old baby teenagers and young adults and of course im about middle age (

Absolutely fantastic property where everything has been thought of.

There’s not one thing we could think of to make our stay any better. The house was immaculate and was even decorated for Halloween! Our dog loved to run around in the huge garden whilst we sat in the hot tub. We loved our stay so much we have already booked for next year! Thanks Brian and Paula

The cottage is just so comfy, cosy, stylish … they have literally thought of everything possible to make this a totally amazing place to have a holiday. The kitchen is very well equipped, the furnishings super comfy, beds and linen are amazing, fluffy towels, lovely toiletries, robes, sliders for going to the hot tub, dog blankets, log fire … it’s utterly amazing!!! There are also so many gorgeous personal touches dotted throughout the cottage too which made us all smile - look out for the brilliant felt mice

. Has EVERYTHING you could wish for. I think once you stay there you will be struggling to find somewhere nicer and more spacious . The cottage has its own bijou . This jewel has everything for a week's stay you could ever want. OH and the toy mice

Anyone thinking about booking this cottage..do it! You will not regret it. This is easily the best place we have visited. The garden area is amazing, the little touches inside the cottage were much appreciated. Upon arrival we had a very impressive welcome hamper along with fridge items and a bottle of wine which was enjoyed by us on the first night! Very attentive owners (when needed) and very friendly. Lots to see in the area and an extremely enjoyable week. We will be back x

We loved our stay, it is even better than the photos.

The little extras that aren’t listed, TV’s in the bedrooms, toiletries in the bathrooms. Bathrobes/towels/shoes for use in hot tub Towels/blankets for the dogs. Hamper in kitchen with selection of little goodies. Milk, Orange, Wine in the fridge. Owners live next door but you wouldn’t know, but if you needed them they were there in a flash. Lovely quiet village. Perfect garden with great covered hot tub area. I would give it a 4 star plus.

We have stayed in alot of cottages etc in all parts of England, we can honestley say this was possibly the best, large, spacious, spotless, perfect position for seeing the northeast and lake district, garden huge dog loved it.

Struggle to.find any negatives, welcome pack in kitchen on arrival. Will definitely return here, if we can get in as I imagine this property will become very popular. Great time had.

Absolutely stunning property, very high standard of furnishings and finishings.

Has everything you will need and more. The garden is huge and fully enclosed which is perfect for dogs. There are also multiple seating areas in the garden to accommodate meals, chilling in the hot tub, or sitting under the tree at the bottom. Owners are wonderful as they are next door so if there is anything you need, they are there very quickly. The interior design is really good and throughout your stay you will keep seeing little touches that will make you smile. Log fire was toasty and you can buy extra wood too from the owners who will bring it to your door. On arrival you get a welcome hamper that is one of the most thoughtful and impressive ones that I have ever seen. All in all this property is 10 out of 10 and I can highly recommend. Little hidden gem!

Amazing cottage. Everything was provided to make sure you have an amazing holiday. Paula was very helpful and friendly. The decor was very stylish and fit the cottage beautifully. No amount of words can describe how amazing this cottage is, you need to book! Great location, easy to get to a multiple of destinations we visited Scotland, the Lakes even Blackpool and St Anne’s. Great if you just want to relax. The garden, hot tub and log burner is just what you need after a days adventure. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

The cottage is perfect in every way, beautiful and comfortable.

In fact the nicest cottage we have ever stopped in over many years. Ideal for a lovely holiday. The owners were accessible and helpful and friendly. There was only one downside for us. The hot tub wasn't available immediately and the temperature was set too low. It was set at 36 and rarely got above 35. The hot tub is the most important part of our holiday to relax, as we have very physical jobs. and we like to enjoy it at least once daily.

Quaint little village, enjoyed that the accommodation was set back from the road and it felt really private even with properties nearby. The inside was flawless. Spacious bedrooms, great facilities like TV, kitchen, living room space etc. Enjoyed little touches like the bath robes and sliders for the hot tub. And the hot tub itself was fantastic - appreciated that it was somewhat enclosed, kept its heat well etc. Overall, really enjoyed our time here and may well come back in future - thanks very much for having us!

We often used Sykes cottages and this is one of the best we’ve ever stayed in. Super clean, cosy, warm and welcoming with lots of lovely extras including birthday banners as we went to celebrate my 30th birthday! The hot tub was a hit with us all, really is a perfect property! Thank you so much xx

This cottage is beautiful - very spacious but still with a cosy and welcoming feel.

It's extremely tidy & clean with lots of lovely added extras (including things like sliders for use by the hot tub, dressing gowns etc.) We had a great stay there in November and would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a retreat (only slight downside was part of the garden had flooded but understand this was being fixed after our stay). It's in a great location though with many nice nature reserves/national parks within a quick driving distance. Hosts are extremely friendly and accommodating too.

We had a fantastic few days last week, The Old Bell Works is PERFECT in every way, so comfortable, super stylish, spotlessly clean with a huge well kept garden, the hot tub was used daily and the log fire in the evening was the perfect end to the day.

Fantastic location backing on to farmers fields for early morning walks with the dog and only half an hour of some truly wonderful spots! 10/10 from us for sure, we will be back

Nothing less than perfect. The owners had thought of everything to furnish Bell End with high quality furnishing and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were delayed getting there and they made preparations for a wonderful welcoming log fire. Thank you to Paula and Brian. Anyone staying here would be delighted with the accommodation.

Every little comfort was taken care of. We were lucky to book this property shortly after it went live. Hosts were very helpful and felt more like friends. Our dog enjoyed the huge secure garden while we took full advantage of the hot tub. Great wifi and Netflix on the massive tv above the log burner. What’s not to like. Would definitely recommend

Quite simply one of the best holiday rentals we have been in.

It was furnished to an excellent standard and had every piece of equipment you would need. Welcome pack was a lovely touch. The addition of the hot tub was very welcome and a lovely place to relax. Very large, enclosed garden was a great space for the dogs to run around. The owners were excellent to communicate with and nothing was too much trouble. This will now be our go to place when we return to the area.

Absolutely perfect!

The most beautiful cottage with everything we could possibly need to enjoy our stay. I went with my mum, my daughter her partner and my granddaughter Olive and also our two schnauzers! Jess and Ash loved the hot tub, I loved everything but especially the luxurious bedding on my super king size bed, the dogs loved the enormous fully enclosed garden! Such a gem of a find especially with a downstairs bedroom and shower room so ideal for a range of ages ( like us from a 1 year old to 86 year old! ) Perfect location for access to the lakes and the coast too. I would recommend to anyone, perfect hosts with an immaculate property thank you so much.

The house is outstanding.

Finished to a very high standard. Lovely peaceful setting. Everything was provided and there was nothing we needed. The owners were lovely and welcoming. We had an amazing stay and would definitely return.
