Description

An immaculately-presented former mill worker's cottage in the small village of Cark in Cartmel, close to the beautiful Lake District National Park.

Providing tasteful and comfortable accommodation, this terraced cottage is ideal for a couple or small family wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Set in a tranquil location, you are next to a river and offers views of the river and fields beyond.

The cottage has two stylish bedrooms, a large bathroom, and a well-equipped kitchen/diner with door that leads out onto an open courtyard, plus the lovely sitting room has a warming woodburning stove in a feature fireplace, and is the perfect place for cosy evenings in.

To the front is a patio area, which is separated from the river by iron railings and is a real gem of a sun trap, where you're able to relax with a good book and watch the ducks go by on the river.

The village of Cark in Cartmel offers shops and the Furness line railway, plus Cartmel is only two miles away and has specialist food shops, a racecourse and an ancient Priory.

A pleasant walk to Holker Hall and Gardens, the home of the Cavendish family, is well worth the effort if only to sample the delicious breakfasts served in the Courtyard Cafe or to pick up a picnic hamper from their Food Hall.

Catch the train to Grange-over-Sands and spend a day in this elegant Edwardian town, plus walkers will be spoilt for choice with a rich variety of landscapes to explore ranging from coastal walks along Morecambe Bay to the breathtaking Lake District National Park.

With excellent village amenities on the doorstep, this is a delightful base at any time of year.

The cottage is in a beautiful spot.

Interior needs updating. Instructions are needed on how things work, heating, cooker. Central heating wasn't working so it was really cold, contact number was fir owner who lived in Blackpool so wouldn't have been able to call round. We eventually got the fire working. A couple of rugs and cosy throws would have helped. Cold hard flooring. Overall it was a nice cottage but soooo cold! Needs a cosier feel.

Very nice clean cottage in the Southern Lakes area.

Very dog friendly and just a short walk to the shop. Sadly the local pub is now closed but the next one is only a 15 min walk. Very friendly neighbours. Rear courtyard is not enclosed so need to keep an eye on the dogs. Needs a little bit of gardening done out front as the area is getting overgrown with weeds. Otherwise a very nice place to stay. Definitely stay there again.
