Lovely place to stay walks from the door , lovely and quiet on a night time

Nice area, very quiet, they could do with fence/gate off the corner of the house, as there's nothing to stop your dogs wandering off down the road,90 per cent of the time my dogs were great, but 3 times the older one disappeared down the road.

The shower was desperate no water pressure, yet there seems a good flow from the taps, kitchen floor getting a bit knackered needs sorting, the place just needs a few tweaks.

Loved the location, very quiet and with nice views.

Large lounge and well-equipped dining kitchen, with a much-appreciated welcome basket (lovely, yummy stuff). Beds were very comfortable with good quality bedding and pillows. We had 2 power cuts unfortunately, not sure if it was just the cottage or the neighbours too. Also, it's possible to lock yourself out, we did on day one! I had to climb through the kitchen window (which the cleaners had left slightly ajar), so be vigilant when locking the door on leaving. I know you're warned about tight parking, we had a Focus and 3 Series BMW and it was a 5 point turn to get out of the driveway. Shower was weak, but come to expect that in holiday cottages. We will definitely return, nothing put us off, just included the above for information, not for a moan.

We have been going to the lakes for 30 years and stone beck was one of the best we have stayed in, comfortable, spacious and very warm, plenty walks from the door and lovely village a short walk away

We had a lovely stay at Stone Beck which is a cute cottage in Grasmere, very homely lovely welcome pack.

Great kitchen and was warm no issues with heating or water. We just found the mattress a little too hard for our liking which made our sleeps not the best and just took the edge of it being a perfect stay. But otherwise all facilities good and the house is in a perfect location with pub just a couple of minutes walk away.

This was our 4th time staying at Stone Beck and we find it feels like a home from home.

We noticed the bed had been changed since the last stay and that was really comfortable and the new artwork on the walls were nice touches to the local area. The only slight criticism is the shower the electric show lacks a little power and the water struggles to get past the bath taps and currently the fence between the other property is down. I’m sure we will be back for a 5th visit in the near future and many more after that it’s a lovely holiday cottage

We had the most wonderful stay at this cottage over Christmas.

It was spotless, beautifully presented, and had everything we needed for a really cosy break. The location is perfect, an easy walk into Grasmere, and with amazing walks right on the doorstep, we didn’t even need to use the car whilst we were there. We enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner at The Swan Inn nearby, then came back to relax in the cottage, which felt spacious yet homely. The bed was incredibly comfortable too, we slept so well! All in all, a perfect stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to come back and highly recommend it.

The only problem we had was the storage in the kitchen for food there wasn’t any we had to leave our food all on the worktop or the cooker

The location is fantastic and the cottage overall is comfortable.

In an earlier reivew I suggested a boot rack which I'm pleased to see has now been added, a few other suggestions were also followed up on, so the owners are listening. I note some reviews say it's getting tired. It would be a shame if this happens since it was refurbished very well in the first place. The kitchen is getting tired, the floor needs replacing, the painted red box needs repainting, the cupboards needs a deep clean, plates are getting chipped. I cleaned the washing machine before use, tea towels are left under the sink next to the dustpan, not nice at all and some handles in the main beedroom still need repairing. The bathroom would benefit from repainting and there is mould forming next to the bathroom taps. Overall, we still like the property and are already booked to come back.

I was dubious about the property as I hadn't looked at any of the reviews since booking last year, then saw some very negative comments when I came to pay the final balance.

I shouldn't have worried, the property was clean, comfortable and equipped to a very high standard. We had a very enjoyable stay

The house is looking tired after a busy year of back to back lettings.

It needs a full deep clean to bring it back up to standard. Good to see a brand new toilet brush.

We loved Stone Beck.

A real find. Quiet and convenient. Overall the Cottage was beautifully equipped and maintained. The welcome pack was stunning. A few maintenance points. The single beds appear to be on the verge of collapse. The bathroom door needs a lock on it, especially when there are 2 different families sharing the Cottage, as we were. Some of the kitchen equipment needs replacing eg: the rusting potato masher and the "non stick" frying pans. The sitting room smelt very doggy which is understandable, but we purchased a good air freshener and the problem was solved. The rubbish disposal was confusing as we couldn't imagine anyone sorting through the black bin liner for recyclables. We took those home with us but it seemed odd to be putting our rubbish bag in a green recycling wheeliebin. Should there have been a black one too?? Other cottages seemed to have 2 and there were 2 collection lorries. However, none of the above spoilt our enjoyment and comfort and we're looking forward to our next stay in the spring.

We have stayed here a number of times and love the cottage.

Great location for the village and walks from the door. The welcome pack was a nice touch. Only comment to make is that the temperature for the hot water needs turning down. When running a bath, you needed to use equal amounts of cold to hot.

We appreciated and enjoyed the standard of decor, curtains etc, however, the cottage is dark because of the location, therefore the lighting in the living room needs to be excellent.

It was inadequate for reading. Better bulb lumination is needed and ideally one or two standard reading lights . We greatly appreciated the Welcome Box.

Big improvement on last year in relation to standards of cleaning.

This is a delightful property.

Spacious and immaculate throughout. It isn’t as close to Grasmere village as I had expected but it is easily reached through a field opposite. The hosts provided a very generous hamper which was very much appreciated. I have a dog and previous holidaymakers must have brought their dogs but it was fresh and spotless throughout. I would definitely recommend it.

Had a great week the cottage was perfect very comfortable had everything needed and a lovely quiet location

We had a most enjoyable week despite the cold and at times wet and windy weather.

The cottage is very comfortable and well furnished with good sized rooms and a well equipped kitchen. The bathroom was lovely and warm and proper sized bath towels provided and all towels and bed linen of a good quality. The shower does not have a lot of pressure but normal with electric showers. The only difficulty that we found was that it was extremely difficult getting the car out because of the narrow entry with stone walls each side and opposite the entrance in the narrow lane, it was impossible to turn the car around in the parking area which is only really suitable for a small car. We are very grateful for the amazing Welcome pack which was so exceptionally well thought out with everything that you would need if you had arrived with nothing, it was excellent and the best one by a mile that we have ever received thank you. We would very much like to stay again it is only the difficulty with the car that may deter us. We love Grasmere and look forward to visiting it again.

Stayed here last year and loved it.

This year there were a few minor faults, nothing that would make us not book again but needs looking into. 1- The amount of cobwebs in the bathroom needs attention. 2- The shower thermostat doesn't work (therefore you either get extremely hot water - to the point it burns or freezing cold! it does this all by itself too) 3 - There is supposed to be an in-bath mat in the cupboard under the sink, but this year it wasn't there. Without it the bath is extremely slippery so you do need to make sure this is in the cupboard. As I say minor set backs but would definitely recommend the cottage.

Stayed at Stone Beck on several occasions.

Great cottage for us. Its location allows us to leave the car and do our favourite walks around Ambleside, Grasmere, Langdale and Thirlmere. A good bus service lets us travel further afield if we wish. Cottage is well appointed with all facilities and plenty of info on area. Short walk into Grasmere itself to take advantage of pubs and eateries. Will certainly revisit and definitely recommend.

A lovely cottage very convenient for everywhere in the Lake District.

A five minute walk in to Grasmere,with lovely shops and pubs.just a couple of points a fire guard would be useful and bath mat for the shower .thanks for the goodwill box of groceries lovely surprise.would book again .

This is a very spacious, well appointed and presented property in an excellent location.

It only has windows on two sides and, like most Lakeland period properties at the foot of a fell, is quite dark. A reading light in the sitting room would help. The heating seemed to struggle with the cold weather - it took until the middle of the week to achieve a comfortable temperature. It only managed to heat a quarter of the towel rail, which meant the large, very high ceilinged, bathroom was particularly chilly. The gas fire was a great help in the sitting room. The bed (? 5ft - a 6 footer would be nice) in the main bedroom was excellent, the two singles are probably in need of replacement and can't be recommended for bad backs. Seemingly par for the course in rental properties, the duvets were incredibly heavy so you may wish to bring your own.

Great location.

The property was clean, has been very well refurbished and the decor soft and very pleasant. Impressed with the windows which were air tight and clean. Torch plugged in by the front door is a nice touch, the welcome box was a lovely surprise. Impressed that the towels are 4-star hotel quality. Just a few things could be improved - the washing machine has some black mold and needs a through clean, we cleaned the cutlery draw and despite the general quality the cutlery is of poor quality, there wasn't any room in the kitchen cupboards for food so we had to move items around to make space, the baking trays have rust and need replacing and we found the knife block a bit alarming!

An absolutely fabulous cosy cottage which we cannot recommend highly enough.

We will miss the brook lulling us to sleep and the short walk to “The Swan” pub which gave a warm welcome to man and his four legged friends. Also the lovely welcome hamper which greeted us on arrival was above and beyond, it was like unwrapping an early Christmas gift full of delicious surprises ( every one enjoyed) . We loved our stay (despite the rainy weather) and would love to stay again. Thank you to Stonebeck owners and do not hesitate to stay in this wonderful cottage in an amazing situation close to Grasmere village.

Stone beck has once again been a fantastic place to stay.

A beautiful location, so peaceful, and a short walk into the village. The house was as always, warm, comfortable and clean. Everything you need. Walks to so many fells from your door step. We’ve stayed here many times and will be again. Thank you once again to the owners for the lovely hamper, full of local produce. So kind.

We have stayed here a number of times in the past.

This cottage is in a quiet corner of Grasmere. Lovely views and walks from the door. Couple of minutes walk to pubs etc. Welcome hamper much appreciated. There was a problem with the gas fire which wasn't working when we arrived but Graeme from hotl maintenance (thanks Graeme) contacted us on Monday morning and a new fire was fitted on Wednesday . We love this cottage and would highly recommend it. One thing to mention to dog owners is that there is no gate on the garden. This wasn't a problem in the past as we visited with an older fully trained dog but this year we brought our young puppy. As the garden is open to the road she needed to be on a leash when outside. A gate might be appreciated by dog owners and families with small children. Thanks we will be booking again

One of the most peaceful locations, a beautiful house with a babbling beck and birdsong as a soundtrack.

Sadly the housekeeping of this property is not up to standard.

The Owners need to invest in a Deep Clean every 3 - 4 months. The Toilet Brush is an absolute disgrace and it is clear has been for many months. One guest made the comment that this property is now an example of a Lakeland Cash Cow - how Sad !!

Second year at Stone Beck cottage and it still is the best we’ve stayed in for location, only a short 10min walk into Grasmere and even closer is The Swan hotel.

Size is great for 4 adults and being dog friendly is a bonus, although the garden is not enclosed. Although it didn’t impact our stay, couple of things need a bit attention. Radiator in bathroom only heats bottom section. Coffee machine didn’t work Settee has seen its best days, one leg looks very close to collapse. Internet is tediously slow for streaming. Looking forward to staying again next year.

The welcome pack of local produce was a very pleasant surprise so thank you for that.

It was also a good idea as we went out and bought more of some of the products which must be good for local trade. The property was very well furnished and clean, it has also had a makeover since our last stay there a few years ago. This made the lounge particularly seem much more spacious. The quilts were all 13 tog which must great for winter but a bit warm for summer when it is 20+ degrees outside.

First time staying at Stone Beck and it was beautiful.

Very peaceful, all you could hear were the birds singing.

The cottage was the best cottage we have stayed in and we have stayed in some very good cottages!

It is beautifully furnished and is easy walking distance into Grassmere village. The Wellcome pack was excellent.

Fabulous cottage filled with plenty of equipment for you to use.

Very easy to leave the car for a week and just walk everywhere (this is exactly what we did). It is a 10min walk into the village of Grasmere but this is better because it's more peaceful. The Swan Hotel is 2mins away and The Travellers Rest about 10mins. A lovely little beck runs through the garden which is lovely to hear. The only downside of the property is it doesn't have gates, so If you have a dog, keep an eye on them in the garden because they can go out into the road (although it is a very quiet road).

This our second time staying at Stone Beck, last year we really enjoyed it and this time was no different.

It’s a great location within easy reach of many must see locations and this years improved guest book gave more information of the local area which we found really helpful and we found ourselves doing plenty of walking right from the door. The condition of the home is still of a very high standard. The only areas that might need to be looked at are that the frying pans are a little on the older side now, and whether there is the option to recycle your plastics etc as we weren’t sure how we should do this. But once again a very enjoyable stay in a very well presented house and we will return again at some point in the future.

Such a special place for us, we having been spending new year at this property for many years & we love it.

Great to see a few improvements have been made including the addition of a smart tv, a new shower & new oven. The property is in the perfect location, secluded enough to feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere yet only a 10 minute walk into Grasmere. The welcome pack is always a lovely treat too. It really is a home from home.

Second stay this year, lovely and warm to come back to after a day on the fells. Superb "Welcome Pack", probably the best of any holiday cottage we've ever stayed at, and local to boot. Couldn't get the DVD player to work, was the only downside

Fantastic property in a great location.

Clean, warm, cosy, plenty of room with a massive bed in the main bedroom (really comfortable too!). This was our third stay at the property and we intend to come back again soon. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay.

Our son and his partner joined us for a couple of days and the property was well big enough for the 4 of us plus dog. Kitchen was well equipped. Whole house was done to a high standard and very comfortable. Parking for a couple of cars. Fantastic walks from the doorstep. Shower/bath area could possibly do with being improved as the shower was very slow. However, this did not take away from our stay and we would certainly return. Lovely welcome gift from the owners.

This is the third time I have stayed in this cottage and as always had a great vacation using this cottage as a base.

The cottage facilities are always good and cater for all you requirements. I will be returning again next year.

.the cottage is in a great central location for walking straight from the door. Its very quiet..so always sleep really well after a days walking. Thank you SO much for the lovely welcome food box…what a lovely way to start the holiday! That was very much appreciated. As autumn is here..we felt that maybe the heating should be set for twice a day? It was quite cold during our week’s stay and it would be nice to come back late afternoon to a warm cottage and wait up to some warmth. Have already booked for next year!

Stone Beck has become our first choice in Grasmere.

This was our 3rd visit and all being well we will return. The hamper that is now left is most welcome and much appreciated. We find Stone Beck ito be comfortable, well equipped, and perfectly situated both for a stroll into Grasmere and for walks from the door onto the fells. It is also convenient for getting around the rest of the Lakes by car. In terms of things to report, the only adverse thing we noticed (and this is a 1 out of 10) was that the gas fire igniter control seemed jammed. We didn’t want to mess with it. But it meant that we needed the main heating system rather more than would have otherwise been the case and in these energy conscious times we were a bit uncomfortable about this. But 5 stars from us.

Excellent cottage in a great location, 10 mins walk into Grasmere.

Beds are showing signs of wear especially single beds, perhaps in need of refresh? Duvets need to be available with lower tog especially in the warmer weather. Welcome food pack much appreciated with wonderful local produce. Parking good for two cars, but you need to master your reversing skills

We have stayed at Stone Beck previously and are booked again for later in 2022.

We are sorry that the property is no longer available as we would for sure book for next year. If we were forced to suggest improvements, then it would be to say that the bathroom is a little tired now. But we have loved staying there and would book again if we could.

Long broken leg on one lounge chair, facilities folder tired, mostly inappropriate and incomplete and out of date.

WIFI password should be in facilities book. Bedding in main bedroom totally wrong for summer months. Some rusting kitchen utensils in drawer have now been removed. Large vehicles have difficulty in accessing in/out driveway and should have a warning notice about this. Coded key holder is not easy - would be almost impossible in dark. Food parcel left on doorstep was a delight.

We had a really lovely stay, perfect location for great walks, nicely furnished, very comfortable, everything you could possibly need.

It was perfect for us and we were very lucky with the weather. Great to finally get back to Stone Beck in 2022 after having to postpone twice since 2020 because of lock downs. Third time lucky I guess!

Nice warm cottage, well equipped and comfortable.

Good walks straight from the door & only 5 minutes from the village. Excellent welcome pack. Good drying facilities for typical lakes weather.

Nice quiet spot with some good walks from your door.

Unfortunately the gas fire didn’t work, so it was often cold downstairs as the radiators are not enough to heat the kitchen and lounge. The TV reception was very poor. The lounge sofa was so low and not very comfy. Nice of the owners to drop off a welcome box on day two.

Despite the stormy weather we had a lovely stay at Stone Beck.

The cottage is lovely and spacious and the opulent furnishings really are a ‘home from home’. Particularly loved the Kingsize bed which is probably the best I’ve ever slept in and extremely comfortable. Location ideal for walking into Grasmere. A guest book would have been nice to offer/take advice to other visitors eg we had a few lovely meals at the Travellers Rest and would highly recommend. Also was extremely impressed with the very generous welcome box, best we’ve ever received in all our years. Thank-you. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect house for a wonderful break in the Lake District.

The house itself looked to have been recently refreshed and felt well maintained. There were lots of thoughtful homely touches and excellent facilities made it feel like a home from home, we all loved our stay and didn’t want to leave!

Property is in a great location and is spacious.

However it’s clearly nearing the end of its current holiday rental. The property was not clean - cobwebs on lights and in corners, hairs all over mattress, oven requires thorough clean. Property only had one sharp knife.

This is a very well equipped cottage in a quiet corner but convenient for the village and local walks.

Excellent welcome pack was much appreciated thank you so much. We booked for next year while we were there which says it all. Looking forward to it

We have stayed at Stonebeck several times now.

It is such a lovely, cosy, warm ,clean, modern and comfortable house Everything you need and so peaceful. Near to Gradmere too. Saw red squirrels from the window , what a treat. We love it and this house has to be our favourite as we holiday regular in the lakes. thank you so much to the owners not only the beautiful bouquet which I took home and lasted another 10 days but the food hamper was so generous and the products were delicious.

Property was in a great location , clean , five mins walk into grasmere and a gratefully received welcome food hamper thank you however, kitchen smelt of dampness and hot water only enough for one bath but there was an electric shower in bath to compensate .

This is the second time we have stayed in the cottage and we just love it.

The location is perfect and the cottage is just so relaxing with the stream bubbling outside. A big thank you to the owners for the lovely welcome pack which was full of goodies and for the bunch of flowers as we were a returning customer. Just loved it all.

2022 Summer Holidays Prices are a Rip Off

2nd time at the cottage, fab location a couple if suggestions to change.

New oven trays and knives. Also would be good to get some decent glasses, such as pint and Gun glasses. A 2nd set of outdoor chairs in the front would be great, the sun is at the side in a morning and at the front in an evening so you have to carry them back and forth.

We have stayed in Stone Beck several times previously and it was as good as ever.

The welcome box filled with local products was particularly outstanding.
