Everything was outstanding.

The property is wonderful, great location, 3 excellent bedrooms, 3 bathrooms/en-suites, a great kitchen and a fantastic lounge on the first floor (we didn't use it as the kitchen diner was plentiful. Loads of tv's, games and the WiFi is excellent. The parking space is only big enough for a small car, given the turning circle is round the back (we used car parks towards Ambleside to leave the cars). Sykes provided 99% of the information up front but in relation to one minor query I couldn't get in touch with them in advance of the stay (tried their WhatsApp link numerous times but no reply apart from their 'bot' who said someone would be in touch; was waiting for in excess of 15 minutes on the phone with no answer on another occasion and eventually someone replied via Insta but this was 3 days later and it was generic info). This left a minor taint, but this had nothing to do with the holiday and the property really is first class! Highly recommended...would definitely be back.

Warm and cosy cottage and good location close to Windermere ferry.

Ideal for walking into Ambleside and met our requirements really well. Used as a base to travel out to a number of National trust properties. We used local bus service to visit Bowness, Windermere and Ambleside which gave me as the driver an opportunity to view the scenery from the open top. Would recommend as the cottage is clean and tidy with parking for a small car.

We were 3 couples all in our 60’s who meet up annually.

Our midweek stay at Bay Cottage was blighted only by the weather, that said the facilities provided helped as we could while away the time using the games provided. Location, location, location, for us it was perfect. Were there challenges yes, the property is over 3 levels with 2 of the rooms situated on the top floor, for people with bad knees this was an issue, again that’s more about the demographic of the group. Recycling, what recycling, this does not appear to be Bay Cottage specific, it appeared that this was a Cumbria issue. Lastly the microwave, having achieved 68 years on the planet I’d have though I could have worked this out, on day 2 I overcame the child lock by switching it off and on, sadly on day 3 it beat me and I reverted to more traditional cooking methods. We enjoyed our stay immensely, the cleanliness of Bay Cottage and the facilities made it a favourite of ours.
