Description

Resting on the edge of the picturesque village of Grasmere, in the heart of the Lake District, is this delightful home, Crozier Cottage.

The property has been lovingly restored to provide quality accommodation for families and friends alike, all whilst retaining the many original features that give the interior a true feel of character.

After a long day of hill walking, look forward to unwinding in the sitting room where you can relax on the plush sofa whilst the impressive multi-fuel stove offers a gentle warmth to the room.

The galley style fitted kitchen has all the necessary amenities to keep your party well fed but retains the country living charm prevalent throughout the cottage.

There is a small seating area with an overlook to Helm Crag and a great viewing place for red squirrels and birds, along with a dining table where meals can be enjoyed.

Heading upstairs, we find three cosy bedrooms furnished in a neutral colour scheme, with a king-size, twin and children’s bunk bedroom.

This floor also contains a fully tiled bathroom with bath, walk-in shower, basin and WC.

Outside this lovely cottage is a garden patio with furniture, perfect for a refreshing drink or your morning coffee whilst taking in the tranquil surroundings and planning your days ahead.

There is no need to use the car on a daily basis with shops, restaurants and bars just along the road in the village centre, plus there are a number of scenic walks and high rambles to be explored from the door.

Brush up on your history with a visit to Dove Cottage, where you can to gain a vivid impression of what day-to-day life would have been like for William Wordsworth and his family, as well as providing the opportunity to soak up the unique and creative atmosphere of the cottage.

Unravel the beauty of the area by visiting the stunning Grasmere Lake and Rydal Water, both providing spectacular views with reflections of the hills in the calm waters, as well as the opportunity for boat hire.

With easy access to Ambleside, Bowness and Windermere, Croizer Cottage provides a fabulous base for all sorts of countryside escapes.

Overall the property suited us quite well but is a bit cramped for five people with one bathroom.

The dishwasher didn’t clean because the heating element had failed. I telephoned in about this and eventually had two visits but no resolution whilst we were renting. A more proactive response would have resulted in the machine being replaced within 48hrs I suggest. It was a nuisance to have to wash all dishes by hand. The toaster was old and the left side didn’t work so may need replacing. I pointed this out as well. The washing machine was good but there was no quick wash option. There was no mattress cover on the lower bunk bed. The bed had been made with the sheet laid double over the mattress but not tucked in. This is not regular practice and not the level of comfort we expect in a property rented from a reputable agency.

We enjoyed our fourth stay at Crozier Cottage!

The weather was kind and the cottage, as always, peaceful and comfortable. The views are delightful, changing every day as the weather changes. We are only disappointed that it is not listed for next year in Lakelovers.

Our 2nd stay at Crozier Cottage.

Perfect location, away from the bustle of the village but close enough to walk in. So peaceful. Beautiful garden with wonderful 360 views of the mountains. Had breakfast out there every day! Safe for our 2 small dogs. Cottage was warm on chilly days. On hot days we threw open the windows for a breeze and all you could hear was birdsong and rustle of the trees. Been renting lakes cottages for 36 years and this one is in our top 10. Tried to book for next summer through Sykes but surprisingly informed its coming off their books. I've looked online to see if it's with another agency but sadly to no avail. I wish I could book again. If the owner would like to contact me I'd be extremely happy!
