Hazel Cottage

Lovely cottage which we stayed in last week for our honeymoon in a great location to the south of Windermere with good links to the local area.

Some things unfortunately weren't brilliant and we feel let the place down for us. Firstly upon entering the property the under floor heating seemed like such a great thing, but with no way to adjust or turn it off we were simply boiling the whole time we were downstairs and had to have the door open to not be too uncomfortable. Secondly the cleanliness and maintenance wasn't particularly good. Whilst the cottage is so wonderfully well equipped, we noticed cobwebs in every room, thick dust on the beams and there were plug sockets hanging out of the walls in one of the bedrooms. The washing machine purged a load of black gunk all over our garments one evening and upon inspection under the inner door seal was very dirty. The fronts of the kitchen cupboards were splattered with alsorts of tea and food stains, which I spent our first evening cleaning and we found a finger nail that had been bitten off in the lounge. On our final day my husband whipped round with the vacuum and managed to hoover up crumbs in the spare bedroom, baring in mind we hadn't eaten in there. Lastly the Internet didn't work for the last day or two of our trip, now there had been a storm which we assumed had caused the outage, but what was disappointing was that there was no communication from the property manager about this (we did manage to overhear someone saying there was an issue with the wifi that was being looked, but only whilst we had the door open cooling off from that underfloor heating!) The property had some really great features. On a positive the beds were comfy, the upstairs heating was adjustable, the hot tub very clean and a well stocked kitchen, plus welcome items that were a lovely. For us it just needs that bit of tlc to make it back to fantastic and since it wasn't the cheapest accommodation out there I guess we expected more.

We had a brilliant week at Hazel Cottage, the views are stunning, the cottage was warm, clean, well equipped and spacious.

We loved the hot tub over looking the hills. The owners responded straight away to any queries, they left us a generous hamper & fizz which was really appreciated. We also spent one day exploring a local walk from the cottage on public footpaths and saw some incredible views. Would highly recommend this accommodation, the best we’ve stayed in at the Lakes. We hope to come back again!

We love staying at Bigland Hall cottages; this is our second time at Hazel and it was just as wonderful as we had remembered it to be.

Beautiful location, super peaceful and relaxing but close enough to drive for days out and activities. It’s such a beautiful cottage, it’s an absolute joy to spend a week there.

This is a beautiful property in a stunning area.

Perfect for relaxing. The owner Karen was very helpful in providing directions to the property and checking in with us before arrival. A suggested improvement would be to ensure dust and cobwebs in the main bedroom are cleaned. There were also no match sticks for the log burner and I received no response after messaging the contact provided to request some.

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful peaceful location.

The cottage was immaculately clean and spacious.The kitchen and bathrooms were well equipped with excellent showers. Champagne in the fridge with a delicious welcome basket for us to tuck in. The cottage was decorated beautifully for Christmas and also individually wraps gift under the tree. The weather wasn't too great during our stay but the cottage was so lovely and comfy to made our stay special. Lynsey and Andrew have put a lot of thought a care into making sure our holiday was memorable. It was a LUXURY cottage. Thank you Would definitely recommend for friends and family, but be quick. we want to go back in May half term but its all ready booked up!

Superb Property in a beautiful position.

The property has been beautifully converted and the hot tub and barbecue a real bonus. Loved the welcome pack and the welcome from the managers.

We stayed at Hazel Cottage at the beginning of May 2023.

It’s set in beautiful countryside and it’s wonderfully quiet. It was a beautiful cottage, really well equipped and comfortable. The quality of the decor and the furnishings were excellent. We had beautiful views over the estuary and the outside patio was was a lovely addition with the hot tub and barbecue. We used the wood burner once which provided good heat /warmth. The welcome pack was so thoughtful and very much appreciated. We had a wonderful and very comfortable stay.

Had a lovely short weekend break with two other friends and my other half.

The hot tub was lovely and hot on arrival, the cottage was filled with everything you need (salt,pepper, sauces, butter plus lovely little extras such as bread and Prosecco!) would definitely return here, and hope to at some point in the near future. Thanks again

There was a bit of an issue with the electricity in that if you had too much on at once the lights would trip.

Other than that is was a lovely stay.

We really appreciated all the little touches like the welcoming basket when we arrived.

Things like this make such a difference especially after a long day travelling. The hot tub was a real hit with the kids whereas the real log fire was my personal highlight. A truly beautiful cottage in even more beautiful surroundings, it was a pleasure to come home to this every evening after long walks.

Utterly incredible.

From booking to arriving it was the smoothest process. The cottage was so well presented. Very clean and had everything you could need. I love the welcome pack full of local goodies The bedding and towels were very clean and fresh, the cottage was incredibly clean. Would absolutely book with you again.

On arrival at Hazel Cottage, it really does take your breath away.

The cottage is beautiful and the location is simply stunning with breath taking views. The cottage is like a home from home and has everything you need for an enjoyable holiday. The little extras left by the owners ie; fresh bread and lovely jams are such a thoughtful edition. I have been on quite alot of holidays and always struggle to get company in hotel beds. The beds at Hazel cottage are so comfortable i was really suprised. Everything about our stay was luxury we cannot wait to visit again.

House needs a better WIFI connection and absolutely needs a radio or device for playing music.

It was possible to stream through the tv but the connection was so poor it dropped out. Also the tv needs radio channels if the above is not actioned

The cottage was well presented and the welcome hamper was a lovely gesture.

Sitting in the hot tub looking out to the tranquil country side was perfect. Absolutely amazing place for a break away from it all.

This was a great holiday experience.

The. Cottage is a good size, with lovely decor throughout. The kitchen is well supplied and the patio terrace is gives you an amazing view of the whole valley. Finally, the owners are great, so accommodating. I can’t recommend it enough and I am sure we will be back.

Amazing location and cottage, everyone that we came in to contact with were friendly, helpful and explained how everything worked and were everything was.

We even arrived to milk, tea, coffee, bread, jams and wine! Beautiful view over the valley and the best cottage we have ever stayed in!

The views and peacefulness at Hazel cottage.

We loved the lake District area there was plenty to do and see also loads of walks short and long. There were plenty of nice pubs and restaurants as well, had some delicious meals.

This holiday was true perfection - easy booking process, a friendly welcome, beautiful, comfy cottage in the most picturesque location with superb facilities.

Honestly couldn't fault it. We can't wait to return - thanks all at Sykes Cottages for a lovely break :-)

Hazel Cottage is, by far, the best cottage we have stayed in and I would recommend it as the ideal holiday home.

The furnishings and design are contemporary and the views are spectacular. You must book this cottage!

Absolutely beautiful cottage.

Surpassed our expectations with all of the little extras. The views were beautiful, very quiet and peaceful. The cottage was furnished to a high standard and very clean. Miss it already and will return.

A wonderful place to stay.

The only downside for me was the mattress which was too hard for me to sleep on, but apart from that, it was perfect in every way.
