Description
Lovingly designed to reflect the character and charm of traditional Lakeland, Butt Hill Cottage was built incorporating traditional slate and exposed oak within a distinctly contemporary living space. Panoramic views through enormous picture windows, and a feature fireplace with multifuel stove provides warmth for cosy evenings in. Entrance from covered porch to enclosed lobby. Open plan living / dining room features oak beamed ceilings, panoramic windows on three sides, feature stone fireplace with multifuel stove, and a door to the furnished patio garden. Even the kitchen enjoys stunning views, with slate floors, classic wooden units and access to the shared utility room. 3rd WC on ground floor. Stairs lead to a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and additional twin bedroom with separate shower room. Carport parking outside the property. The Troutbeck Valley sits at the start of the dramatic Kirkstone Pass, is a haven of peaceful grazing land, scattered rural homes and pretty woodlands surrounded by many walks. Leading north toward Brotherswater & Ullwater, and south to Windermere & Bowness. So despite your blissful seclusion, you are close to a fabulous selection of cafes, shops, bars, restaurants, walks galore and lake cruises.
The village of Troutbeck, has the excellent Mortal Man pub, and the Queens Head Inn, both renowned for their locally sourced food and accompanied by real Lakeland ales. In the village is the National Trust Townend House & Garden, for a quintessential trip back in time to how the Farming family of the Brownes lived, and a lovely local church. There is also a small local shop serving coffee and bakery.

We have been staying every year for 30 years always enjoy it such a beautiful location and being able to bring our dogs is the most wonderful thing, the cottage is Cosy and comfortable views are so lovely and just bird song so peaceful, hope to be back next year
I’ve stayed at Butt Hill for 10 or 11 times over the past few years and always loved it.
Unfortunately this time there was an issue with the internet, which was clearly known by the owner as there had been additional nest device added since I last stayed in March. The internet was off more than on, which effected the tv and as a working holiday stopped my work. I did update Lakelovers, but definitely needs addressing. Other than that, a lovely cottage as always.
Located in a lovely spot in Troutbeck, the cottage is very comfortable and offers wonderful views from its elevated position.
The garden is a good space in which to relax but would ask that the owner looks to provide a parasol for the outdoor table which would have been appreciated during the hot weather whilst we were there.
