  • "Lovely, comfortable stay at this accommodation which had such a good homely feel."

Located in a quiet area, but very close to all amenities. On-street parking, but had no problem at all finding a space directly outside.

  • "While the overall stay was very nice, it was little rules of the house and the mattress in the master bedroom that created a bit of a mess."

House was cleaned very nicely. Location is perfect to explore the town itself and roam around the lake district. Amenities wise, you will find everything in the house which was nice. They had very lots of maps, guide books for you to find more about surrounding places which was very helpful. Finding parking in front of the house was not a problem if you arrive early in the day but as you arrive a bit late be ready to park a bit far from the house but not 3-4 mins walk away. You can use the leisure center but you need to come prepared with your accessories and also check their time table. Coming to downside of it, after long and tiring drive and walk around the area one needs a comfortable mattress to sleep on, however, mattress in master bedroom wasn't upto the mark. It felt like a spring one and you could feel the springs on your back. Thankfully one of the beds in twin bedroom had a better mattress so that was a saviour for me. Apart from this the biggest challenge was the silly rules, who asks guests to clean all the utensils a day in advance and keep it where it was. Don't you expect people to do breakfast in the morning of checkout. As a guest my duty is to make sure house is kept the way it was which we always ensure too but that shouldn't mean that I do majority of the cleaning of your house before leaving especially when I am there for my holidays. That's too much to expect.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you had a nice stay with us at Orrest Range and that you found the house nicely clean. We are sorry that you weren't happy with some of our requests. There is no extra rules for this particular house. We do standardly ask that at some point before guests leave that they tidy and clean up after themselves, although of course our cleaning team visit to fully prepare the house for the next guests. In regards to you finding the bed uncomfortable, we do find that this is down to personal preference and are sorry that on this occasion it wasn't to your liking. We hope to welcome you again soon. Enjoyed walking into Windermere for evening meals. Might be helpful to mention that there are hairdryers to save people bringing their own. Might go back just to read all the books!

  • "Great house in a good location."

Parking available outside everyday except night before departure which was slightly inconvenient. House very comfortable and well equipped; flickering lights in dining room need sorting - assume dimmer isn’t suited to the LEDs. Leisure facilities not great if you’ve got kids - between swimming lessons and ‘Adults only’ sessions it never worked for us to use them. If you want to plan your day around the timetable then that’s fine, but we were expecting to use when returning from a walk or bike ride at the end of the day. Check timetable online. (And they close at 5 on a Sunday, not 6 as per the info book). Other than that, would happily return, but wouldn’t pay a premium for the leisure facilities next time without researching first.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay. We will pass on your comments regarding the lights to our Maintenance team. We hope to welcome you back again. Property Owner

  • "We booked this cottage for a last-minute break and really enjoyed our stay here."

The cottage was in a fantastic location, really close to all of the amenities in Windermere and lovely walks close by. The cottage had everything we wanted, it was spacious, clean and had lots of books and games to keep us occupied. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. A place we would definitely return to.

  • "Spacious and comfortable with every facility for a family holiday."

Having access to the outdoor courtyard was lovely as it was nice and sunny. Cleanliness was excellent. Would happily stay there again. I had worried about parking in the street but there were never any problems even as we had 2 cars. ( An addition to the kitchen could be a step stool - I am only 5 ft and the kitchen cabinets were a bit of a stretch. )

  • "The house was spotless and was in a great location."

We always managed to get free parking outside the house. There are some lovely old features which makes this place very cosy. Everything that was needed was included, although the beds in the third bedroom were too small for adults really and the toddler equipment was dated.

  • "Orrest Range is a great place to stay, fans would be helpful for the top bedrooms, which get quite hot."

Other than that it is a lovely and well equipped holiday home and we have stayed her twice and would stay again.

  • "Comfortable, good location for both Windermere and Bowness."

It would be helpful to leave one kitchen cupboard empty for holiday makers to put their food in, the cooking facilities are very good. On the website the impression is that the leisure centre is in walking distance from the property so transport is needed to get to it.

  • "A lovely and well appointed property which felt spacious and relaxing."

Really enjoyed our stay. I particularly welcomed a good selection of knives and a knife sharpener - the kitchen was well equipped for cooking which is not the case with many rentals.

  • "It’s a nice place be honest, the size, the location and the layout are quite good."

However a few points we thought that can be improved. The heating system kept turning off during the night. The customer service sent someone to check it very quickly but didn’t make any changes unfortunately. We have three kids and a grand nanny , they kept waking up in the midnight as it’s too cold. Also, an unclear information of trash disposal was a bit annoying. We were unable to find black/green bins all around the house, we need to catch the train so had to left it in the kitchen. Finally, as guests we were very confused about why we should take off all bedding sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases ourselves. This part as per our understanding, shouldn’t left to guests at all. In general we will say it’s still a good experience but can be better. Thanks

  • "Fab cottage, really clean and perfect for us as a family."

Only minor point was we were quite cold the first night as I think the house had been unoccupied for a while and it took a while to for the turned up heating to warm the house. Fine once it did though but s spare blanket or two in the master bedroom wouldn’t go a miss.

  • "We had a fantastic stay."

The cottage is very well laid out and had everything we needed during the stay. We loved the collection of books and maps. The beds are very comfortable and the cottage was very clean. Parking was easy just outside the front door and the cottage is within a short walking distance of Windermere town centre which has a Booths and Sainsbury's. The Lakelovers team (SykesCottages) were very helpful and we would highly recommend this cottage.

The cottage is beautifully furnished, very well equipped and was spotlessly clean. We all slept so well in the wonderfully comfortable beds having enjoyed busy days exploring the area. It is a quick walk to Bowness and having access to the pool at Choices was a real bonus for us.
