Perfect in every way, beautiful and peaceful setting.

Well equipped and comfortable. Lovely touch having a welcome cake and milk in the fridge ready for us on arrival. We will definitely be back.

Very comfortable property, very clean and everything you need for a relaxing break.

Also nice welcome pack for our dog who was very pleased with the chews. The views from the house are stunning and we were very pleased to have stayed at Hury Lodge

Hury Lodge is a lovely comfortable cottage set in wonderful countryside with delightful views over unspoilt countryside and moorland.

Walks from the door and a great base to explore the wonders of Teesdale. Thank you - we had a very relaxing holiday.

Another wonderful week at Hury Lodge, relaxing with lovely views, birds singing and lambs leaping.

Weather was mixed but we still found enjoyable walks with the dogs and coming back to our warm welcoming cottage was a perfect way to end the day. This is my fourth visit so what higher recommendation can you need.

Hury Cottage was delightful to stay in for a week.

The views out, over the reservoir and moor opposite were constantly changing. Loved sitting in the conservatory at dusk watching the geese and gulls flying up over Baldersdale to roost. Barnard Castle is to hand-25min drive for shopping. Morrisons is hidden away in the town centre but ample parking. Hury, peace, quiet, no passing traffic, a sure delight to stay at. We will return.

we were there the year before and loved it so much we booked it again. the scenery is beautiful. The place was lovely but needed a bit of tlc. The carpet in lounge was a bit smelly my dogs kept sniffing it. a bit of mould on bathroom ceiling and i mean just a bit but noticeable but the place is lovely and cosy the bedrooms are comfy the kitchen had everything in it you needed and we were left a lovely cake and milk from the owners i would recommend staying here and we will probably go back again

This is our second stay at Hury Lodge and it was wonderful to see that the same high standard of the cleanliness and facilities have been maintained.

Set in a beautiful location with excellent views both my wife and I plus our two labradors thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would have no hesitation in highly recommending a stay at Hury lodge to others. The milk and chocolate cake were a nice touch and helped the afternoon coffee go down a treat so thank you to Mr an Mrs Butler

Beautiful location and great place to stay.

The only con is the Internet isn't great and unfortunately you could only get connection at the left side of the house, which meant you could only watch terrestrial tv.

We stayed at Hury Lodge for a short break over New Year finding the property in an idealic isolated situation with fantastic views which suited us down to the ground.

The property itself was most quaint with everything we required apart from Wifi which was stated within the description, so no surprises there. It was clean and well maintained and I met the lady owner who was most pleasant. The only drawback is that the kitchen countertop area is sparce. The garden is fully enclosed and safe for my very energetic sprocker who also thoroughly enjoyed her stay. We cut our stay short solely for the fact that the weather conditions were appalling with continuous rain and due for -4 degrees for the morning of us travelling back home which, given the narrow hilly roads, we thought it best to leave earlier sadly. This said, we would love to return to this beautiful site in better weather. The scenery is gorgeous and can be seen from the dining table in the kitchen. The owners are on hand if needed but leave you to enjoy your stay otherwise. I can thoroughly recommend Hury Lodge and hope to return in the future.

Brilliant stay.

Remote on the beautiful moors. Gorgeous views and it’s just so quiet. We had the most glorious sleeps. No street lights and no road noise. It was idilic. The cottage is gorgeous too, just what you would expect. So cosy and warm, low ceilings and a fully furnished kitchen. Everything was provided, dishwasher tablets, tea towels and bath towels. We stayed over Christmas and Ali even decorated for us with a tree etc and generously left us Prosecco and a Christmas cake which was much appreciated. There is no WiFi as there is no cell signal and therefore only freeview on the tv which is hard when we are so used to internet at our fingertips. However, sometimes it’s great to be ‘cut off’ from it all. We enjoyed just relaxing and watching the many different species of birds that came into the garden and we walked often on the moors (go to Hannah’s meadows it’s stunning!) with our dogs. And drove to the nearest town Barnard castle which is a lovely historical town with some lovely shops, and of course the castle itself. (Sadly closed during our stay due to high winds) All in all we had a most relaxing quiet Christmas in a lovely cosy cottage. It even snowed one day which made the scenery even more beautiful. I even read two physical books which I never get the chance to at home. Thanks so much to our gracious hosts.

A wonderful cottage.

Warm clean and cosy. The beds were so comfortable with lovely bedding. The cottage was well equipped.There is no Wi-Fi, but that means you can really relax. The location is spectacular, with view over the fields, reservoir and hills. The ample sized garden is completely dog secure and the property is very dog friendly. The peace and quiet makes this cottage very special. I would certainly book again.

Excellent property perfect for us and our dogs beautiful views peaceful lovely clean comfortable property would definitely go back we had sheep and cows for neighbours which we liked we found Teasdale railway path to walk the dogs down safe and away from livestock not far from beautiful high force waterfall barnard castle for shopping Bowes museum we went to durham and bishop Auckland palace which is very accessible for disabled people we had a lovely holiday thankyou to the owners s Davies doncaster

Absolutely loved it.

The views were amazing as they changed with the weather it was beautiful especially the sheep being there all the time. The cottage was lovely they had provided everything such as washing up Liquid, tea towels and much more and the bed was really comfy. We went out every day as there were lots of things to do and see and my 2 dogs thoroughly enjoyed it We would go here again and will probably go back next year

This cottage was one of the nicest places I have stayed in.

It had everything that we needed The location was totaly secluded so peaceful. The owners were next door but didn’t intrude at all. I wouldn’t hesitate in receiving anyone to stay there.

the local area was stunning.really away from it all.the very low beam going into the double bedroom should have been mentioned in the description.made life difficult as we are elderly.

This was a lovely cosy cottage with splendid views.

The walks from the door were superb. The owners live next door but do not intrude and the place felt completely private - but they are there if you need them. The back garden is dog proof. Pleasant three mile walks (can easily do a circular walk) to a decent pub

We had a lovely few days at the lodge with our dogs.

The views are spectacular ( especially in the snow !) , very private , in-fact the photographs don’t do it justice. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the cottage was well equipped . The local farmers and other cottage owners were also very friendly and the roads were kept clear in the snow making it easy to explore the area. We would love to return in the future !

Lovely chill holiday at Hury Lodge.

Lovely little snug lounge very cosy. Everything there that we needed. Nice and clean. Bedroom - bed very comfortable. Kitchen lovely and everything anybody would need. Dining area - what can I say apart from WHAT A VIEW looking out from the large window - absolutely stunning. We didn't get to use the garden unfortunately as the weather was atrocious for all the time we were there nothing but rain and high winds but we wanted a chill break and that is what we had. Found a few friendly pubs too. Would recommend definitely.

Well equipped and furnished, and so peaceful. There are good walks from the doorstep and plenty to do within a short drive. Highly recommended !

Nice and quiet very cosy lovely places to visit would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at Hury Lodge,the only thing lacking was the bathroom,it needs a upgrade, I found it very hard to use the bath,there were no grips or bath mat,needed for older people,and the cleanliness was sadly missing,the shower was fine,but the bath itself was not clean,(but could just need replacing).

...It’s a shame because the Lodge itself,is in such a nice area, and comfy,but anyone with any disability or more elderly would find the Lodge bathroom hard to navigate.

Hury Lodge is probably the best place we have ever stayed in Chris and Aly were wonderful and provided some nice touches for when we arrived.

The accommodation was spotless and had everything you would need for a stay The views were breath taking and all together a lovely peaceful place and area to relax in. It is also extremely dog friendly and thank you very much to both of you we had a great time. The owners have certainly got it right and both Ann and I would be more than happy to go back.

My husband and myself had a very enjoyable week at Hury Lodge, and envision coming back in the summer to enjoy the lovely views of Hury Reservoir from the garden.

Having an enclosed garden was excellent for our dog to be out and about…The cottage was so cosy and had a lovely “feel” to it! Thank you to the owners!

Cottage was as described and very clean and tidy.

We stayed over Christmas in which the owners left some mince pies and prosecco which was a very nice touch and greatly appreciated.

Nice property in a quiet location.

Plenty to do in the area with Beamish museum, Barnard Castle, nearby and walks a plenty in both the wear and tees valleys . Intermittent WiFi but that actually made the trip better , no phone zombies, card games and talking ensued. We would return gladly.

My father and I had a lovely week at Hury Lodge and were very sad to leave.

The cottage was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. It is in a wonderful location with amazing views. The garden and surrounding area was full of birds and many an hour could be spent just sat in the garden or porch watching them. There are walks straight from the door on the very quiet lanes and footpaths. A walk up the lane above the cottage past Howgill Grange and Botany farms gives amazing 360 degree views. Hannah's meadow nature reserve is a pleasant walk along the road and back along the reservoir. We also enjoyed a walk along the Tees Railway path from Mickleton to Middleton in Teesdale too where we had a very good a lunch at Forrester's French restaurant and bar. Thank you to Ali and Chris for a wonderful week. We would definitely love to return.

Lovely scenery, lots of good walks.

Idyllic is not a word I use often but this cottage certainly is.

Comfortable, peaceful and everything you need for a perfect stay, can’t wait to visit again.

Lovely well equipped little cottage more than enough space for the four of us, very peaceful just what we all needed.

Not pestered by the owners but they were close enough by had we needed anything. We will definitely recommend

Hury Lodge is cosy with wonderful views over the reservoir.

Communication with the owner was excellent and we had a safe, contactless entry & departure. Everything was very clean and comfortable. It was great having the enclosed garden for our 2 dogs, sadly not the weather for a BBQ, although one is provided. A very enjoyable stay overall!

The cottage is compact, well heated with a fantastic view of the reservoir.

A broad selection of utensils were available but missing a basic few. It was disappointing to find the TV was not working, something that should have been identified and rectified before we arrived. We found our phones were not getting good reception, so, after a texted conversation relating to the internet access and code given for access not working and requests for assistance with the TV, both were resolved by the owners when they returned. Simple things like a tea strainer or cafetiere would have been helpful as making fresh coffee was a bit of a challenge with nothing to stop the coffee ground when pouring.

When you go away in November your not expecting fantastic weather, so staying at Hury lodge was an absolute delight for those rainy days where you could cosy up with a good book and look out the window to the wonderful view of the reservoir.

Also makes for a good walk, though a bit muddy with all the rain over the last week. This is very well equipped cottage with a good range of kitchen utensils, books etc. Nice touch having milk and cake there on arrival, thank you. I have a Jack Russell terrier which I felt was saver keeping on a lead when ever we were outside as there are sheep in the fields around the cottage. Beautiful countryside with lots to explore, would highly recommend for a peaceful getaway.

A well equipped, small relaxing cottage in a beautiful landscape with good views.

An enclosed space for the dog with quiet lanes and footpaths on which to walk him. Be sensible though, lots of sheep in fields so dogs always on a lead. A week not enough to explore and discover everything so hope to return sometime. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Hury lodge is a beautiful little cottage, we enjoyed two days in lovely countryside, peaceful and quiet.

Some nice walks for us and our two dogs. we all enjoyed it so much we will be back again in the summer. thank you for a brilliant two days.

Wonderfully remote.

Pretty cottage. Beautiful setting. Fabulous view. Well maintained property and garden. Good quality furniture. Everything needed was provided. Great location for Base Camp! Barnard Castle...Bowes Museum...Swale Dale... Richmond...all within driving distance....Fox and Hounds pub nearby do great meals. The only things I'd change? Better quality mattress on the double bed, scourer for washing up, outside bin...washing machine but these are minor gripes. Wonderful place for relaxing. Thank you

We had an excellent week at Hury Lodge, in an idyllic location.

Sideboard in kitchen needs to be replaced.

Storage cupboards need a clear out. Not withstanding we would book cottage again.

Very clean and comfortable with outstanding views. Small enclosed garden ideal for our dogs. Quiet and peaceful setting but only a few miles to nearest shops.

The owners are very obliging and on hand your every need is catered for. The idilic setting had many walks to choose from and the area is steeped in history and a good way to explore. The cottage and gardens are pet friendly and we will definitely be back.

It is a lovely place where we are guaranteed a peaceful stay. It's very good for my elderly father - we love the view across the reservoir with ever-changing clouds and light, and easy short walks from the house.

It is in a wonderful location overlooking Hury Reservoir and is quiet and peaceful. The cottage was clean and comfortable and the owners who live adjoining were very friendly and helpful. I have no doubt we will return to this cottage in the future.

Our second visit.

. Cottage is very warm and cosy with all facilities provided. Small garden, ideal for small children and dogs. Views are spectacular and as based in Durham Dales but close to Cumbria and Yorkshire Dales the cottage is surrounded by stunning scenery. Owners very friendly and welcoming. We don't often go to same cottage twice as there are so many to choose from but in this case we will definitely be planning a third visit! Highly recommend.

What a fabulous clean and well maintained cottage with stunning views.

Cosy and warm. The simple things like a bottle of cava and party poppers awaited us to celebrate the New Year. Certainly recommended. Owners got in touch as soon as we contacted them re key collection. Would certainly return.

Hury Cottage is excellent comfortable and well equipped.

Being disabled all been on one level it was ideal for me. The view from the cottage was amazing everywhere you look unusual and exciting wildlife. I photographed otters and beautiful landscapes all in all a great holiday

Plenty of places to visit or go walking. The dogs absolutely loved being there and we do hope to return again.

The door into the double bedroom is very low and my husband kept hitting his head.

Customers need to be aware that if you're under 5 ft it could be a problem.
