A lovely home with well equipped kitchen.

Everything was good quality. The showers were great! The location was unique and unusual and very relaxing. The morning sun beaming in through the tall windows was very uplifting and the dark sky allowed for star gazing on clear nights. The side lawn was flat and were able to play the garden games we brought with us.

Has all the key attributes of a great holiday let: Cleanliness, comfort, and facilities - all great.

The showers were particularly nice, in perfect condition, and with excellent water pressure. Very spacious - plenty of room for 6 adults and a dog. Very generous welcome basket, and pleasant and helpful hosts. Location - just wonderful! Closest property to the dive centre, which provides access to the quarry for swimming and scuba, and has a nice cafe. Views from terrace and balcony over the quarry. Added bonus was being able to watch swallows feeding their young in a nest at the roof peak, and bats and a barn owl sighted in the evenings.

The facilities are amazing and the location is peaceful and beautiful. We had a very comfortable stay and would love to return again in the future.

Fabulous place with great views,the photos dont do this place justice, fabulous welcome gift and everything catered for , all you actually need is a few clothes and yourselves, this place has everything you need to feel like your at home , only 1 small downside is thd roads closed currently so you have to do a couple of mile detour but worth this once you reach this accommodation.

The most magical location with access to the Jackdoor quarry and swimming daily.

Excellent accommodation with literally everything you need for a first night. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were all on suite. We even watched two World Cup football matches during our stay, in the cinema room. We will be returning as we had such a wonderful and special time here.

Casa Loma wow beautiful lovely house.

The welcome pack was the best we have ever had thank you. Bed was super comfortable, kitchen everything you need and more. Bathrooms were lovely super shower. The road to property was closed you have to go around the country side to get there hope its open for next guests. Outside garden furniture is lovely ,needed a parasol but next door quickly found us one thank you .if there was one thing I would recommend it's the shrubbery needs cutting back so you can see the swimmers on the quarry. I would highly recommend Casa Loma.

Casa Loma is a wonderful property in a stunning location. There is so much to do in the area, we only wish we had more time there. The hosts are very helpful and our stay was extremely comfortable. If you love luxury, and adventure then this is the place to stay!

A beautiful place overlooking a lake that has open water swimmers and divers intermittently each day. Stunning views everything catered for right down to fabulous welcome pack. We were celebrating our Ruby wedding as 3 couples and were greeted with decorations and gifts that went over and above. Fantastic time and would love to return in the future thank you so much for making our stay perfect!

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at Casa Loma to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday.

The accommodation was superb - so relaxing and tranquil next to the water. Wonderful walks about 30/60 mins away in the Lakes or beautiful walks a little closer to home. The cold water swimming at the dive centre which is included with the accommodation was amazing - I felt so calm and invigorated afterwards - would highly recommend giving it a go. This is one of the first holidays where I have returned feeling properly reset and ready to face life again!

Lovely property and so relaxing !

The views are stunning over the lake, with an amazing sunrise. We were there as a base to visit family. We took our dog who was very relaxed there (but just to say garden was open at the side onto the drive) comfortable beds, plenty of towels and everything you need in the kitchen. Media room was a plus and used a lot. (X Box there now) great holiday thoroughly enjoyed by all !

We booked Casa Loma as the place to visit for our mini-moon and what a beautiful stay it was!

The views, the cleanliness, the amenities and location was just perfect. The little welcome pack was such a lovely gesture and everything we could have needed was available. It had a real cosy feel to the accommodation and the rooms were really spacious, with plenty of storage facilities available. We were sad to say goodbye to the gorgeous view and are already looking at when we can visit again! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

Bright, spacious and very comfortable.

It's got all you need for a wonderful holiday. So close to the Lakes, the coast and lots of quaint villages to take a peek at.

Most beautiful home I've ever seen and stayed in , was decorated amazing for my mum's 60th birthday the area is so peaceful and quiet it was just the most relaxing weekend I've ever had with stunning views from the house will be booking again !

We have stayed in many cottages, Casa Loma didn't disappoint.

The cottage has everything you would need, it is a home away from home. The wow factor for me was the impressive windows and high ceilings with a beautiful view of the quarry. My husbands highlight was the fire and pretending to be Bear grills. The cleanliness in the cottage was also of a high standard. The diving center is really close and we were able to borrow wetsuits etc. and have a little swim/paddle in the clear water. The only thing I would suggest is an upgrade of the seating in the Main living area. I found the fabric to be itchy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would consider booking again.

Was absolutely amazing lodge everthing we needed and more would definitely stay again We had a wonderful Christmas there it definitely had the wow factor

The most wonderful place to stay, the house is absolutely gorgeous and the hosts are very helpful and accommodating.

Lots of friends have asked where I was staying and they will be looking into booking themselves. Will be booking again!

This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay.

The location and views were superb; the accommodation was beautiful, comfortable and welcoming and everything had been done to make us feel at ease there. Swimming in the quarry was so peaceful and again, just beautiful. We had an amazing weekend and will be back, hopefully for longer next time.

We stayed as a a family of 6 to celebrate my 30th birthday.

I couldn't have imagined a better place in the lakes than Casa Loma. Everything from the location, views and the house itself was perfect. The rooms were spacious, especially the really impressive master bedroom. The woodwork all around gave it a really homily feeling and the kitchen was amazing for food enthusiasts like us. The stay was absolutely perfect and we'll definitely return in the future. Thank you!

We had a fantastic stay here.

The dive centre were friendly and really helpful - they lent us masks, snorkels and goggles and wetsuits for the kids. The water was clean, with a great option for outdoor swimming in a safe environment. House was well equipped with a great garden and we made good use of the barbecue. Kitchen was well equipped and the house has everything you need - we ended up going out much less than we expected as we had everything we needed at the house.

Our stay at Casa Loma was fantastic.

The place is lovely and has great facilities. We chose the property for its proximity to the Lake District. After each day out we looked forward to enjoying the evening overlooking the lake from our temporary home.

We had fabulous long weekend. Casa Loma was a brilliant place to stay - I would thoroughly recommend it. The rooms and en-suites were lovely, the house was really well fitted out with everything we could possibly need. The location was lovely!

Beautiful cottage in perfect location.

Free swimming and equipment included at the dive centre. Outdoor bbq and fire pit for sunny evenings. Immaculate inside.

We had a wonderful stay, the house is lovely and very near to A roads and the m6 so perfect for travelling around.

We thought it was a shame the outside woodwork wasn’t better maintained, it’s a lovely house in a beautiful location which we would recommend. The kitchen was lacking in a few things eg measuring jug, garlic press, no pint glasses, Pyrex bowls etc. These are just small things though which didn’t detract from our holiday

Absolutely gorgeous house.

Everything was perfect from the comfy beds, lovely bathrooms, cosy log burner to the fully equipped kitchen. The welcome tray was a really nice touch and much appreciated. Highly recommend.

Cottage was very cold the first 3 days as the heating wasn't working.

And the temperature was controlled by the adjoining cottage next door. Gas engineer came out and increased the temperature and it helped a lot.The electric socket for the TV in the main downstairs room is dangerously damaged and should be repaired without delay. When it rained the roof was leaking inside the downstairs bedroom leaving it with a musty smell, apparently the owner was aware of this but we wasnt advised beforehand. Also there was no dvd player provided even though there was a shelf of Dvds in the games room.We were told one was going to be brought to us but it never came. Despite all this we still enjoyed our time at casa loma. The cottage had a lovely fireplace, beautiful living room with panaramic windows overlooking a lake, spacious bedrooms with ensute bathrooms or shower rooms, and generally very well equipped, however lacked a small basics such as pen or dishwashing sponge.

A lovely lodge with a great tray of biscuits cake bread and some cheese and milk so we could have a drink as soon as we arrived.

The log fire was even set up for us to light.

Casa Loma was a real home-from-home.

We felt relaxed and welcome the minute we walked in. The welcome provisions were a lovely touch, the furnishings so homely and the beds so comfortable. Being able to swim in the lake was a real bonus, the staff there were friendly and welcoming too. Having Harry next door was great, we loved the walk that he recommended along the canal. Thanks for a great week.

Swimming in the quarry every day was lovely, the water is crystal clear and the staff at the dive school were friendly and helpful and leant us wetsuits. The welcome pack from the owners was much appreciated. There were 5 adults and our dog and there was plenty of room for us all. We had a fantastic holiday and I'd definitely recommend Casa Loma.

Absolutely magnificent place.

All fixtures and fittings are high end. The little touches like the welcome basket were a great touch. This place is about 5 mins drive from the M6 but feels in the middle of nowhere, it’s so peaceful. You will not go wrong booking Casa Loma, trust me.

We enjoyed ourselves at Casa Loma for my 60th birthday.

The property is lovely, spacious and has everything you need. The outside space was lovely in the sun and great to look over the lake with people swimming and diving. Kitchen had everything you needed and more! The welcome pack was fab, thanks so much. Only issue we had was we couldn’t get the tv’s in the games room and 2 bedrooms to work, kept saying no signal and no instructions (didn’t try tv in master bedroom). Overall would recommend staying here.

Lovely property, very comfortable, thoughly enjoyed our stay.

The welcome pack was unexpected but very welcome. Rooms were all very clean and well maintained, the only possible extra would be a hand rail in the downstairs bedroom ensuite. We had my elderly mother with us and she was just a bit unsteady on her feet.

Amazing property, all bedrooms were lovely and the bed was really comfortable.

Really nice and generous welcome package. Lovely views over the lake, loved chilling in the garden of a evening with a glass of wine. Access to the lake and being able to go open water swimming most days really made the holiday for us.

Casa Loma was one of the loveliest places we have stayed, so well set out and beautifully presented.

The outdoor area and access to the lake made the weekend. The lake is incredible! So clean and picturesque. Carol and her team were so welcoming and went above and beyond, including the tray of lovely food and drink for us upon arrival. We couldn’t recommend it more highly.

This is our second time, and it was as good as we remembered. Two small suggestions about kitchen improvements. 1. The grill (left hand side of the oven) has shelf supports at the front but not the back. This means it is unable to support a grill pan or other that is fully inserted into the oven, without the grill pan tipping over. This means the grill is difficult to use and potentially dangerous. 2.The oven is quite narrow. It would be good to have one more pan that can fit in the oven. The baking tray only fits in longitudinally, and that means it the back (over the flame) starts to smoke. There is one roasting dish that fits but another would be v useful. Thanks again - I think we will be back!

Lovely large house in a very quiet and peaceful spot, the photos don't do it justice.

The kitchen was very well equipped and the owner left a very generous, good quality welcome pack for us which was much appreciated. Lovely bedrooms all with modern en suite walk in rainfall showers. The back garden was a real sun trap and very tranquil with views over the lake. An added bonus was watching the Peregrines nesting on the cliffs right opposite us. All in all a wonderful place to stay, highly recommended.

A beautiful house overlooking Jackdaw Quarry where we enjoyed watching the dive centre activity.

Wonderful views and close access to wildlife environments. The house is very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Walking from the house has to be along narrow roads but once you get to the canal, great!

The place was both comfy and stunning and the view always interesting - the noise from the Diving Centre next door was a bit annoying - it was hard to read a book outside in the peace and quiet but the passing swimmers and ducks kept my dog entertained so the trade-off worked for me.

Everything about this holiday was perfect, from the organisation of key collection, to the amazing welcome hamper!

Harry even went above and beyond by forwarding on to us a parcel that arrived for us after we had left the cottage! Thank you

Lovely cottage.

Very well appointed with great facilities. The people at the Diving Centre couldn't have been more helpful, even for those of us just going in for a swim. (They lent us wet suits and other kit). The cottage is in an area we hadn't explored before but there are lots of lovely places for wet and dry weather within 30-40 mins drive. We hope to come back!

We are just back from 3 days at Casa Loma.

Communication with Sykes was excellent - we booked at short notice and our last-minute request for all the beds to be made up as doubles was processed. On arrival we received a warm welcome from Harry who was in the process of dropping off fans to the property due to the extremely hot weather. He also quickly organised a parasol for us at our request. The location of the house is unusual – it overlooks a lake in what was formerly a quarry. The lake is used by the neighbouring diving school which means that throughout the day there is the added interest of watching divers and swimmers. We took up the offer of borrowing wet suits at the diving centre and went swimming – a great experience, especially in the hot weather. The house is clean, spacious, comfortable and finished to a high standard. The cinema/games room is a bonus. The outdoor area is lovely and is equipped with a barbeque, patio heater and comfortable seating / dining furniture. There is no shortage of things to do in the local area but we spent a lot of time in and around the house. The accommodation is not cheap to rent but this is reflected in the standard of accommodation, the complementary access to lake swimming via the diving school and attention to detail such as the generous welcome pack. So, all in all we were very happy with our 3 days at Casa Loma and as well as being extremely relaxing we felt it was a bit out of the ordinary.
