What guests are saying
Lovely tranquil property in a stunning location yet close (but not too close) to the bustle of Bowness.
The property was well equipped and maintained with excellent beds, bedding and towels, and a lovely welcome pack that was unexpected and much appreciated. The property is very well located to reach lots of Lake District favourites such as Hill Top Farm, Tarn Hows, Buttermere, Grassmere, Ambleside etc. you can walk down into Bowness in 20 mins to catch a boat trip and so many National Trust properties within easy reach. Not negatives but we couldn’t find any means to recycle our rubbish and this did seem to have been the case for previous occupants. Also I would have loved the use of a hair dryer. But the property itself was lovely and we would very much like to return.
We had a lovely stay at Tether's End.
The location is beautiful and the cottage is really well equipped with everything you need. The kids had a super fun time with the farm animals nearby. There’s also plenty to do within a short drive or walk. All the shops and supermarkets are close to the cottage, and parking right by the entrance was a big plus. My only suggestions would be to add blinds, mats to bathroom and a hair dryer. 100% recommend this cottage — we’d love to come back.
The description of Tethers End is not quite what you get.
It’s just an apartment really; there is no downstairs. This being said, the accommodation was lovely, with a great kitchen. The dining room was very dark, but we used it anyway. The owner left lovely treats like wine, crisps and biscuits, which was lovely. We had no cafetière to use the ground coffee that was also left, so we bought one and left it there for others to use. The views from the balcony were lovely. We saw deer, ducks, chickens and a barn owl most days flying past. It was so peaceful. Our dogs enjoyed the garden, but we did not let them off as it’s not totally enclosed. I would recommend Tethers End. We had a lovely stay.
