Great house, you dont really see the neighbours next door, pity they do not allow you to view their pond and garden area which is to the left of the large garden.

First class service from Sykes/lakelovers after we locked ourselves out in terrible weather, we were drenched and thinking we may have to sleep in the conservatory for the night, they sorted it within the hour, bringing a spare set of keys. It is a pity we were thinking of booking the same week next June, cannot really understand how the rental price can shoot up by around 35/40%! No value in the increase,it is a shame that many properties since the pandemic have chosen to price many folk out of certain rentals. Having whinged about that, we loved it there, as a previous guest wrote in reviews, it was not perfect, but perfect for us.

A lovely week in a beautiful house.

Very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. Very comfortable beds and luxury bathrooms. We would happily stay here again.

We had an absolutely fantastic time at Domvs.

The house is beautiful both inside and out, with lots of character! All 3 families commented on how clean the house was and the comfort of the beds as well as how spacious the house was. The only issue we faced, which wasn't a huge thing for us was the appliances. All appliances were clean and useable however we think the oven and air fryer may need upgrading as it seemed to take a long time to cook things using them. We will definitely be booking again, we had a fantastic time!

The house is absolutely beautiful and more than spacious enough for our party of 11.

There wasn’t anything missing from kitchen equipment and the house was well maintained. The gorgeous lounge ( or the Grande Salon as we referred to it) with its fabulous views would not be out of place in a French Chateau. The location is excellent and the fact it was close enough to walk into Windermere was a real bonus. We will certainly be returning.

This house was even better than the pictures make out!

3 families had plenty of space to live together with ease! We had an excellent holiday. There’s every utensil, and facility you could ever need!! The beds were extremely comfortable. We were lovely and warm. Of an evening we would sit around the coffee table with a wine or two and the open fire and Boardgames from the cupboard. We took plenty of outdoor games for the kids when the weather was good. We took it in turns to cook each night and we were shocked at the amount of pots, pans, crocks, utensils and even a draw for kids plasticware and cutlery! We would love to return!! So many amazing days out on your door step. We 100% recommend. Also! I read the guest books and everyone has been multiple times! Often “3rd visit” “4th visit” and one family has hit 10 visits!! That says it all! X

7 ladies arrived at what can only be described as a delightful place to spend our week away.

Lovely property.

Address on Google maps takes you to a completely different location. Found the property via the photos on the booking, luckily on the main A road. The home was absolutely freezing cold when we arrived. , had to manually update the hive heating controls constantly to ve comfortable most bedrooms have plug in heaters. If you have your own I would definitely bring it with you I would also advise bringing plug in over blankets. The house us well set up for group bookings, all rooms gave thier own bathrooms....so.e better than others. The twin rooms are very small as are the shower cubicles. The top floor tower room is particularly cold and damp. The views would be spectacular if you could see through tge windows...sadly they were obscured by condensation. Narrow and steep stairs up yo thus room too. Kitchen facilities are excellent. Separate dining room was great for the jigsaw enthusiasts. Main living room had plenty seating snd once warmed was great. We arrived to 2 logs in the basket so no initial fuel supply as advertised. This is the only room with an open fire. We arrived on the 9th January. The Christmas decorations were still in situ. My advice if staying over winter.Thank you for your query.

Overall, a fantastic house for large groups.

Plenty of space, great kitchen with all you need, lovely bedrooms with en suite in most. It is looking tired with some decor in bedrooms and windows, however, it's really functional and we all had great sleep so cannot fault that. We did an issue with hot water on 3rd day which we reported, but when we returned late that evening we did have hot water and could shower. The next morning, no hot water but was our leaving day so no major effect as we only live 90 mins away. Great property though where we held lovely family meals and great socialising space and very relaxing. I would recommend, but I do suggest the boilers may need upgrading.

For a marketed luxury rental the appliances and heating system are antiquated leaving us with no washer and heating/hot water issues for most of our stay during the winter months.

Damp and cleanliness leaves something to be desired in most rooms.

A beautiful home with a fabulous large & grand but also comfortable lounge with room for us all.

The master bedroom is palatial with wonderful views over the gardens and within sight of the lake. Some of the other rooms are much smaller/less grand so it’s important with a group of adults to understand the inequalities! The downstairs was warm & cosy but we did have problems to get heat into the bedrooms and bathrooms. All in all we had a lovely stay in this beautiful house in a great location.

Of all the properties we have stayed in over the years, this was voted the best by all the family.

We had a great holiday in a very spacious and comfortable house.

We enjoyed the house, the views and the area it was a wonderful family gathering.

A few items to note: - rubbish bin outside was almost full when we got there. We did forgot to put out Tues night and put our early Wed but must have missed the pick up - one of the dining room chairs was broken, we put it aside - 2 of the bedrooms had uncomfortable beds, the bedroom on the very top floor and the cat bedroom had very worn out beds, the last night my son had to sleep on the couch - there was a kerosene or fuel oil type smell coming up from the basement which drifted upwards Lastly, my sister rented a house around the corner with her husband and two dogs since pets were not allowed, they may have been seen playing with our grandkids on the lawn but did not come inside the house and did not create any mess. Thank you for your hospitality!

Stunning house, beautiful gardens, every possible gadget/equipment needed for great holiday.

Location is fabulous with excellent bus service and easy walking to shops/pubs. Downside? Steps to upper bedrooms very steep - not too good for arthritic knees! Bedrooms felt a little damp as no opening windows and a lot of condensation. Other than that a wonderful house for family and friends to enjoy large gatherings - we loved having room to all get together in lounge but also to 'escape' elsewhere for a bit of peace and quiet.

This was a superb venue for 6 retired couples on a walking holiday.

The sheer space and character of the house, including the patio and garden, made for a memorable stay and we hope to return next year

We come here every year - the size, location and facilities suit our family very well.

Excellent improvement this year was the newly tarmaced driveway.

We have just enjoyed a lovely week celebrating my husband’s birthday in Domvs.

We are a group of 12 family members age range 10-70 years and the house suited our needs perfectly. Great that every bedroom has its own ensuite facilities. The house was clean and well equipped, especially the kitchen which made it easy to cater for such a large group. The open fire in the lounge created a cosy atmosphere in the evenings. The large square table in the dining room was perfect for family meals and playing games. The views from the house are superb and location fabulous, with just a short walk into Windermere town centre. The railway station is very close by and bus stop just a few yards from the house. We only realised the day before we left that the house has different thermostats for upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs was lovely and warm throughout our stay but upstairs a bit chilly (especially the tower room) as we didn’t realise the thermostat for upstairs was situated on the first floor. This wasn’t a major problem though as we spent most of our time downstairs. A good time was had by all!

This is our third stay at Domvs, our family love staying here, the living area is a good communal place to sit and the dining room has space for us all.

It would be great to see some improvements made such as more sockets and better Wi-Fi in the tower suite. A fresh lick of paint throughout. This said we do hope to stay again, adding a hot tub would be amazing next to the summer house, this said we did notice the outside plugs not in use. Thanks for another great stay.

Some of our party found it a challenge climbing so many stairs to get to their bedroooms.

In the middle of winter we arrived to find the house freezing cold. I would have been so easy for someone connected with the house to switch the heating on an hour before we arrived. There were only two small logs in the basket and we had to go out in search of a shop to buy a supply of logs. We were looking forward to using the DVD player but found the cable plug at the back of the unity held together with sticky tape which meant the picture and sound quality was poor and distracting.

Utterly stunning property with beautiful views, great location and plenty to do and see!

Our only negatives were the amount of mould around the house. It also got extremely cold given the time of year, many of the windows and doors had gaps, need replacing. Apologies, but we had to crank the heating up alot and did appreciate the little heaters dotted around. We had a great time though and loved the house!

This house was truly exceptional, booked for my daughters 21st, we recently lost my father and I wanted to take the whole family away as its been a hard few months and this house did not disappont just the break we needed,, plenty of space, I even made Christmas dinner for the 12 of us, and the dining room had enough space for everyone, we set the table beautiful with all the beautiful dishes and dinner plates accessories etc which were provided , the house was beautifully decorated for Xmas with a beautiful Xmas tree, garlands in main living room, dining room, and hall, it was stunning, candles and lights through out and a real coal fire with logs which were provided madethe house truly cozy for its very spacious size, central heating throughout, and for December the property was always very well heated throughout.

The bedrooms were 5 star all round, even the twin rooms the beds were large enough for adults. Each room is en suite , each room is provided with towels, Rolled top baths in 2 of the rooms were stunning, The beds are extremely comfortable , and views from upstairs bedrooms are stunning also. We got up early one morning and watched the sunrise on windermere, , at night we star gazed, we went for local walks, local shops yards from property, if you don't want to venture out you can just stay in the property the views are stunning with a very large garden area, lovely just to sit with family with a real coal fire, there also a conservatory extension with beautiful garden views, there are plenty of games provided also., there is still plenty to do, The kitchen is well equipped there is everything you need and more, the whole house will not disappoint you, my family from ages 21 to 77 had an amazing time and we didn't Want to leave, This was my first vist and won't be my last, I plan on booking for Xmas week every year, I have already booked for next year, and even thinking of booking during the summer as well , don't hesitate on booking, this stunning house will not disappont. Exceptional price also for this 5 star property. There is nothing negative to say about this house, The owners have taken everything in to consideration in this house, and gone above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible, there is everything you need in this house. Can Not wait to return.

Fabulous property.

Enough space for ten (often stroppy) people to have a super time. The seven toilets were greatly appreciated by the over seventies who seem to need such facilities often! Easy walking distance to village and the bus service was an added bonus - cars were never used. Garden and seating areas - stunning. Just wonderful!

Perfect holiday .

Property was just what we wanted as an extended family ranging in age from 26-86 . Everything we needed was there , we were lucky enough to have good weather so were able to use the garden . As my sister said , it wasn’t perfect but it was perfect for us . 3 very large sofas to stretch out on , bedrooms , although very different in sizes suited us , kitchen was well equip and had all the kitchen utensils to make large meals . Lots of games , books and local information also available . Would definitely recommend for large extended family . Thanks for some great memories .

The property exceeded our expectations.

It is a lovely property and has a fantastic lawn.

The small bedrooms are only suitable for children but the curtains in them are not thick enough to keep out the early morning sun so the kids woke up early every day, which of course meant they woke us up early ! The top room is very damp, it has a humidifier but I dont believe this is mentioned on the listing

I have holidayed many times over the years in Holiday cottages and this property did not disappoint.

Very large and comfortable superb gardens and views, weather could have been warmer to enjoy the gardens but you cannot control the weather. Very well equipped had everything we needed and more. The whole family loved it and said it was the best one I have booked. When I return to the lakes I will definetly book this again.

We had a wonderful week!

The property has the air of a much-loved family home. Probably the best equipped kitchen we have ever used, including an air fryer & milk frother! Other thoughtful touches included hand wash at every sink (all 8 of them..!) and a generous supply of things such as toilet roll & dishwasher tablets. Beds were very comfortable and the hot water was plentiful. The garden and the view are absolutely stunning. As other reviews have mentioned, most of the bedrooms back onto the main road but it's quiet at night and doesn't get busy until well after 7:00. Goodness knows how the cleaning team do the turnaround, so a few missed cobwebs on the high ceilings were not an issue at all. Sadly it's already booked next year for our usual week, but we hope to return another time.

We love this house and our family treat it as their second home and insist we come every year.

What can I say, this was our second visit to Domvs and it didn't disappoint!

There were a few extras, like the air fryer, which we put to good use. The lounge area is great for family and friends get togethers. Domvs is in a great location for exploring the lakes, with an excellent bus service close by. Once again a fabulous stay for all the family, we hope to be booking again for next year!

Lovely house in a great location would definitely book again would be nice if check out time was a little later, but, appreciate, with size of property that cleaning for next guests takes some time regards terry

This is a fantastic property for a large party.

It was perfectly located to explore the local area and so much to do right on the doorstep. Clean, comfortable and very well stocked with everything you could need.

DOMVS was in a great great location - a few minutes walk from Windermere town & railway station, and slap on a bus route.

It is a beautiful house with a grand, but comfortable, living room with large bay windows facing the lovely garden and wonderful views beyond. There is a small conservatory attached and access to the garden and patio sitting areas (one house level and one lower) which were lovely places to congregate at the end of the day for early evening drinks, as the weather was good. The kitchen was a good size and reasonably well equipped (see comments on inventory later) with a useful utility room. Likewise, the dining room has everything needed and just fitted 12 people reasonably comfortably around the table which occupies most of the room. This looked tight but worked well. Of note, it would cause less confusion if Sykes called this property the name actually on the gate as looking for DOMVS reveals absolutely nothing either on Google, or when there, since the house is called Rannerdale! (It’s also impossible to say, DOMVS!). 4 of the ensuite bedrooms were ample or large, and attractive, doubles, 2 seemingly quite luxurious (see later). The 2 twin bedrooms were, by contrast, very small and basic, with some issues (see under ‘rooms’). Of note, all the bedrooms, with the exception of the huge garden facing ‘master’ bedroom, had an aspect onto the road and were therefore subject to traffic noise and less interesting views (curious the house was built with most of the rooms not facing the beautiful garden and view at the back!). Not a major problem, but one needs to be aware of it as it is a well used road. As mentioned, this made it convenient, which was the upside of that. Issues with the property. 1. Very few bedroom windows opened, and if they did, it wasn’t very wide, which was a major downside and should be clearly indicated in advance. Ventilation in a bedroom is absolutely key, especially as most people in a shared property want to shut the bedroom door for privacy. A few of the rooms had fans, but a fan can only circulate air and, if there is no fresh air coming into the room, it is simply circulating stale air. We appreciate double glazing is to keep road noise out, but it must be down to the individual whether they prefer fresh air with traffic noise, or recirculated stale air. This problem was unfortunately, particularly noticeable in the small twin rooms, and in the tower room. This room, although fabulous visually, with multiple small windows along all four walls (so like the master bedroom, had a great view over the back from one set), gave rise to enormous challenges as not a single window was openable (despite a large claw bath in the room, which was a wonderful luxury in one way, but problematic ventilation wise, therefore, in another and had necessitated a dehumidifier in the room which did it’s best). Secondly, not all the blind pulleys worked properly or were accessible (??), so blocking out the sunlight on hot days was challenging. So we had to do some fixing of the little chains, some of which were insubstantial plastic, which came apart at the slightest tug. Since there was a significant amount of (wonderful!) light, it needed occlusion on hot sunny days and of course at night. Opening and closing every single blind each morning and evening was something of a challenge, not least, because there were so many to do, but also because some were almost impossible to reach, due to the geography and furniture of the room and the inaccessibility of the blind pulley chain. A taller person with a longer reach may have fared better. We set up a ‘Heath Robinson’ on one window over the stairs, leading down to the loo/shower room, in order to be able to adjust the blind. 2. No inventory; Sykes were not able to tell us what was and wasn’t there. For example, we were told there were no hairdryers, so some of us went to the bother of packing one, but in fact there were several. As most of us were travelling by train and some from overseas, this was not an inconsiderable nuisance, carrying the extra weight and taking luggage space unnecessarily. Also whether things like tea towels, dishwasher tablets, bin bags etc were provided. Whilst we appreciate that self catering means you provide your own food, by and large, it is absolutely impossible to bring every possible ingredient or kitchen item you might need for cooking, and it is customary for simple basics to be provided. There were some of these things there, but Sykes were unable to tell us, which which meant a lot of extra things being brought unnecessarily by the two side cars. This increases packing and unpacking time considerably and it is a waste of time. Clarity on exactly what is provided is essential, down to the number of cutlery, crockery and glasses sets, the types of kitchen implements etc. Cooks need to know what they are dealing with, which will dictate what kind of cooking they can do. 3. A certain amount of wear and tear was evident; as is to be expected in an old property, but certain functional things do need fixing, eg the dishwasher cutlery holder had large holes in it, which meant that cutlery dropped through, potentially hazardous to the function of the machine if not spotted, and with 12 people was hard to keep track of who knew, and who didn’t and who would remember! The glass shelf over the handbasin in one twin room was loose and hanging off its fixings, rendering it usable; therefore needs repair. 4. The waste disposal system was very confusing. The notices told us to put everything in the one large wheelie bin, where it would be sorted by the contractor into recycling and other. The large wheelie bin had a very big sign on the lid saying “no recyclables“! We’re also not aware of any other company offering this service and remain dubious about it, since, hearing the head of waste management in the UK on the radio recently talking about contamination of recyclables, it is pretty clear that prolonged exposure to grease permanently contaminates recycled paper for example, and it is hard to imagine in any case how any contractor could separate food waste from plastic, paper, card and so on. We would love a full explanation of how this is possible and it needs to be crystal clear. Everyone needs to be recycing as much as possible these days and we had taken great pains to keep our recyclables separate and were fairly astonished and sceptical when it was clear there was only one bin in which to put it all. 5. Rooms. The two twin rooms are quite pokey. It needs to be made very clear that the four doubles and the two twins are of very different sizes and standards. Twin rooms can be just as luxurious, but these were of inferior quality and really best for young children. We were six couples, ranging in age from late 60’s to mid 80s, and it was very hard allocating the twins for obvious reasons! Inevitably, neither couple were happy. If we had known in advance, we may well have chosen a property with more equal quality rooms, or, if we had decided this one was the right property, could have organised the room allocation in advance by whatever means, but it made a very awkward and time consuming first evening discussing allocation before we could all settle into the room we were finally allocated. 6. Other bedroom issues Moreover, the twin beds’ bedposts stick out at the top and catch the unwary; residents of these rooms sustained nasty bruises as a result of a hard knock, which didn’t add to their dissatisfaction of being in those rooms! Poor design. 7. One of the twin rooms had a faulty shower from the outset. The owner was there on our arrival day trying to get it fixed and was extremely apologetic and gave us two bottles of bubbly to compensate for the temporary inconvenience, which was felt reasonable, assuming the shower would be fixed the next day. It wasn’t though and, despite multiple visits from a plumber, remained unusable for five of the seven days of our stay.

We enjoyed our stay at Domvs.

The accommodation was perfect for our family group (aged between 1-70 years). The 4 main bedrooms were spacious and the 2 twins rooms good for the grandchildren. The grandchildren enjoyed the garden and the "Upstairs Downstairs" style passageways. The living room and dining room provided great space / room for everyone. The owners were very helpful and accommodating. We would definitely recommend.

We stayed for my Hen Weekend and we had a fab time!

The location was great Plenty of kitchen utilities and facilities The rooms were clean and comfy The only thing was that we couldn't get hold of the owners to ask what kitchen utensils there were as we needed to know for something we were planning Apart from that a great stay! Would come again

We all had a lovely holiday at Domvs.

The house was comfortable and very well equipped. It is a lovely old house with a beautiful garden.Obviously due to its age and size there are many stairs but that didn't detract from our pleasure as the views from the upper rooms are fantastic. We have already booked the property for our family holiday next year.

DOMVS was everything we had hoped for.

Superb accommodation very large and excellent for the 11 of us who stayed there. (6 adults and 5 children). The children loved the garden l, it made for a superb cricket pitch. A couple of things for the owner.(not complaints) We tried to keep the covers over the garden furniture but one kept blowing off. The front door catches on the threshold. The toilet in the 2nd floor twin bedroom didn't flush very well. Hot water supply to main bedroom handbasin on 1st floor intermittent. Shower was fine. I did report to your office stain on same bedroom sofa, light on in garage.

House chosen for number of bedrooms and bathrooms for family holiday with ages ranging from 70 to 7 months.

Everything we needed for baby was supplied (high chair and travel cot) and kitchen was very well equipped with for cooking for 10 people every night. Perfect garden views of distant lake side and sunset. Splendid time was had by all.

I booked for my 70th Bithday celebration with my family, although we have all had a wonderful time we found the stairs and different levels a bit of a challenge.

Also this wonderful house needs a bit of tlc, the dining chairs do need attention. It was a wonderful stay and the view is superb. Just a little attention would make a world of difference.

The house is well placed to walk into the town and a short drive from a lot of the main attractions.

We have stayed in this property many times - it is ideal for a family of 10, as we are.

The grandchildren love it - near enough to walk to Windermere for the shops and a lawn big enough for football!

WOW comes to mind when I think if this property!

I had booked it to start the celebrations for my 70th birthday, with my family. It was everything we needed and more. Everything had been thought of , fully equipped with many extras. The property was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The property is well situated at Windermere,with stunning views and a beautiful garden. We all had an amazing time and I am hoping to book again for next year! Outstanding!!

A beautiful property.

Very comfortable and homely Kitchen well equipped. We were on holiday to celebrate Christmas and a lovely surprise for the Christmas decorations to be up. A small problem but very quickly sorted. Would definitely stay again

The property is so spacious and the garden superb, especially being able to enjoy the views of the fantastic garden next door. Our stay coincided with the beautiful rhododendrons and azaleas so it couldn't have been better and the new garden furniture was very comfortable. Please be aware that there are a lot of steps both inside and out. The kitchen was extremely well equiped with all our needs catered for.

The inventory in the kitchen was the best I’ve ever seen for a rental, plenty serving dishes, plates and glasses for all. A great entertaining space.

Fantastic property.

Really well equipped and perfect location to explore the lakes. Just a short walk into windermere. We celebrated covid delayed 40th birthdays for 9 of us and this house was perfect. So much space yet super cosy, the fire was perfevt for this time of year! Fantastic views down to the lake and surrounding hills. Enjoyed so much we have already booked again! Can't wait. Im sure we will be regular visitors!

The house was little tired in places and some rooms could do with repainting.

The outside furniture needs replacing asap.
