Hawkrigg Cottage

We stayed for a week at the Hawkrigg cottage.

It is a beautiful and well presented on a farm property with absolutely stunning views. Property was nice and clean on arrival and there's all the necessary things available for you that u would need in a house. There's loads of places you could visit around the area. Beautiful lake Windermere is also only 30 mins away. I would highly recommend this cottage for a comfortable home to home stay.

This cottage was a gem!

Such an interesting layout and really warm and cosy. The decor was beautiful and it even had sky tv! Delicious biscuits were left for us to enjoy along with everything you need to make a brew. When it rained it was loud on the roof which I absolutely loved the sound of. You can also hear birds and cows most of the time. It felt really secure, secluded and private. The surroundings were outstanding, mountains everywhere you look. The owners take good care of this place. Would definitely stay again.

The cottage had everything we needed and was a great base for exploring the area. It was clean and tidy and the owner had thought about everything needed for guests to have a comfortable stay.

Hawkrigg cottage is a lovely, quirky, well equipped place to stay.

It is spotlessly clean and has superb views from the windows. You can also watch the activities of the farm next door. It is quite a remote area but excellent for walking ( there are details of walks in the cottage ). If the weather had been better it would have been perfect.

We had a week long stay in Hawkrigg cottage with our one year old.

The kitchen was well-equipped with everything that we needed. It was well set up for a toddler, with cot, highchair, travel cot (used as playpen), black-out blinds and a few additional toys and books. The views were lovely and the farm noise was very little (it was lovely to see the cows going out to the field in the morning!). We would definitely stay again.

The Cottage is lovely, clean and comfortable and the view is just breathtaking.

I loved the layout of the kitchen, which had everything we needed for our breakfast and evening meals. Even though it was extremely warm, the bedroom stayed a nice temperature and the bed is lovely and comfortable. Emma is a great host and quickly came to our aid when we had an issue with the gate at the beginning of our holiday. It's a great base for visiting the Lakes as well as popping in to Kirkby Lonsdale, White Scar Caves and the Ingleton Waterfall Trail. We would love to return.

The property is on a working farm, it was lovely to see the cows coming in for milking, and the sheep, chickens and dogs around.

The views are so lovely from the living room and kitchen window. Lovely area outside to eat meals and enjoy the birds. The bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor was great for my parents. Loved the raised kitchen area and the bedroom upstairs had great views through the skylights. There are lots of walks/runs in the area and you are close to most attractions in the area, the owner was very friendly, we enjoyed our stay and will look to return.

The cottage was lovely. Small but bright and airy. Kitchen well equipped. Facilities were good. We stayed with our 18m old and the cot room with blackout blinds was a godsend. Only thing we could have done with was a mop - having a toddler dropping food etc we needed to clean the floor a few times throughout the week!

Hawkrigg Cottage is really lovely situated in stunning Countryside it is on a working farm the cottage is clean and modern.

There are beautiful views from the windows, lovely garden furniture and has lots of extras supplied by Emma the owner who is very kind and friendly. Make sure you go to Ingleton Waterfalls. The lakes are only about 20 mins drive away. We had a fabulous time staying there.

We had wonderful weeks stay at the cottage it was so comfortable and relaxing, we slept really well, we hope to rebook a stay in the future thank Emma

We had a lovely stay over Christmas, the cottage had been decorated and had a very warm and cosy feeling.

Our children had a lovely time and enjoyed all the extra games/toys in the “playroom”. We had everything we needed but was also very helpful to know the host was just next door if we required anything! The views were beautiful, and our children enjoyed watching the tractors and farm animals from the large windows. The cottage is set in a quiet and peaceful area with walks from the door but also conveniently located for day trips out to visit other local areas. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others 100%. Thank you to Emma & family for allowing us to stay in your cottage, we made some lovely memories x

A lovely cottage in a great location.

I would 100% recommend booking this property! Emma is super friendly and helpful and is always willing to advice on everything!! There is a large folder that has been carefully put together giving information on absolutely everything you would need that is available locally including walks, days out, cinemas, takeaways, shops and lots more The property is small and comfy and has all the facilities needed. The views from the cottage are superb and a joy to wake up to every morning. We loved seeing the cows going to be milked twice a day and the very hardworking dogs keeping them in check. Kirkby Lonsdale is only a short drive away and has some lovely shops, bars and restaurants. We had a fantastic day at Ingleton Waterfalls. With a close drive to everything it’s really worth booking!!! Thank you so much ❤️

really nice clean property with everything we needed perfectly located for walking the dales ,our stay was very peaceful and relaxing and Emma was very polite and helpful ,overall it was just what we were looking for and hopefully we will return to this property if we visit the dales again thank you Emma.

This cottage is one of the most comfortable and well kept that we have ever stayed in The views and the surrounding countryside are beautiful and the owners very friendly and helpful.

The perfect location, local to the town centre.

On arrival we was welcomed by the owner, we felt at home straight away! The cottage was spotless, it had everything we needed. Our children (boy 10yrs & girl 8yrs) absolutely loved their room for the week. It was our families first holiday in over 4 years and had to say we was not disappointed!! Lots of lovely walks to take, beautiful scenery, thank you for a wonderful family holiday!!!! Wayne, Sue and family

We really enjoyed our stay.

Very clean and very comfortable, it would be useful to have a non slip mat in the bath otherwise nothing to fault at all.

Very clever layout and comfort.

Great views, close proximity to various points of interest. Good for cycling and walking. Short distance to the caves or The Lakes in the Lake District area. Even if the weather isn't the best, there's always something to do in the Dales. The host of very useful and nice, we even joined a sports fair in the village on the Jubilee day. Amazing day, amazing visit, we will return again.

From the moment we stepped through the front door of the cottage it felt warm and welcoming, smelled amazing and was spotlessly clean.

We had lots of goodies waiting for us in the kitchen too. Beds were really comfy and there were plenty of useful kitchen bits for self catering. The views from the lounge and kitchen windows are amazing and the cows were so well behaved that we never heard them, although it was nice to watch them come and go from the milking shed. (No smells or flies either!) Hosts were really friendly and helpful and checked in with us the morning after we arrived and chatted to us if our paths crossed during the week. Would definitely recommend stay here again.

Emma is very warm and welcoming. The cottage has amazing views and a lovely sheltered courtyard that gets the afternoon sun. The cottage is set in the middle of a working farm but it is still incredibly peaceful. We would love to go back.

Located on a working farm with stunning views over the beautiful Lune valley, it's position offers peace & quiet yet near enough to both the Yorkshire Dales & the Lake District for those wishing to explore.

The cottage is finished to an exceptionally high standard with equal attention to all your self catering needs, nothing seems to have been overlooked. Emma and family are very welcoming and on hand to help with local suggestions on walks, places to eat etc. All in all an ideal holiday home.

A lovely cottage with stunning views. Very rural and peaceful yet within easy reach of The Lake District and The Yorkshire Dales. Great to see the cows come in and go out and also the lovely dogs. Emma is very friendly and welcoming. Will certainly be back for a 3rd visit!

A spotlessly clean and very well designed and equipped cottage that makes the best possible use of the available space using split levels.

Owner Emma was very helpful and welcoming.The cottage is very comfortable and has stunning views out across the farmyard to the valley and fells beyond. Nearby Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely village with several excellent ice cream shops and a wonderful bakery.

Our week at Hawkrigg cottage was perfect.

The cottage on a working farm is surrounded by beautiful countryside. The view from the large window Was amazing and wonderful to get up to each morning. The cottage has excellent facilities. We had a very warm welcome from Emma who was very helpful. We hope to visit again.

Lovely views, close to lots of activities, lovely countryside, and a friendly welcome. The cottage is in great condition and has everything you might need as a base to explore, or to sit out a rainy day! Hopefully we’ll be back again...

It is superbly appointed, comfortable and very well equipped. Emma was very kind and helpful and happy to share local knowledge. We hope to visit again!

We loved our stay at hawkriigg cottage.

Right between the lakes and the dales meant it was a great base to explore and get the most out of our holiday. Kirkby Lonsdale only a couple of minutes by car was lovely with a nice array of shops and pubs. Also a great river for the hotter weather, the kids loved paddling! The cottage itself was exactly as described, bright and spacious, finished really nicely and right in the middle of a working dairy farm. And although it was a working farm you wouldn’t really know it most of the time, it still felt fairly secluded and peaceful and a great place to relax. If in the area in the future would love to stay again.

We love privacy and peace and quiet.

The house was very nice inside. We didn't realise we were right in the midst of a 'working farm' and milking started at 5 or 6 am daily. I was disappointed there was no private garden. Photos can be a little deceptive. Also there was a complex Lune Valley Lodges just behind our cottage, part of the same concern. Thankfully we weren't disturbed by them, but we would not have chosen to be within earshot. The owner was friendly when she returned from holiday midweek.

The cottage was well furnished.

The kitchen had more utensils, etc. than one normally finds in self catering accomodation. Instructions for using all the kitchen appliances were available. The owner came to check we were settled in, she was lovely and very helpful. I would totally recommend this cottage. We have a son and daughter ages 7 and 9 and they both loved their room and the games, books, etc. available to them in the cot room or playroom as they called it! Sky sports and movies were brilliant bonus and the wifi signal didn't falter once.

Hawkrigg Cottage is absolutely lovely.

Set in a beautiful area with stunning views from the windows. Lovely to see the cows go for milking and the lambs, dogs and hens. The cottage is very comfortable - especially the bed! We slept so well in this quiet location. When the sun shone it was very warm - like sitting in a greenhouse. Great shower and heating too. Ideally placed to visit the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales. We also visited Blackpool Tower Ballroom - just an hour down the motorway and a must for Strictly fans! Emma (and Nellie the dog) were very friendly and on hand should you need anything. Definitely return to this lovely cottage.

A very pleasant retreat with a stunning view across Lunesdale to the Dales beyond.

There are some very good eateries in Kirkby Lonsdale.

It was a really lovely cottage with wonderful views of the countryside, however the living area was not the most comfortable to sit in and lacking for three people

The cottage was perfect for our family get away.

Our children loved staying on a working farm and seeing the cows come up for milking. The location was everything we wanted with stunning views and walks. We will definitely come back.

The cottage was lovely.

The location, not hard to find and really nice. The layout of the interior was pretty cool and there was plenty in the cottage to do. As soon as we arrived the owner was round to welcome us. Nice stay and would go again.

The owner is very friendly.

The views are glorious and change with the weather and time of day. Would never get tired of looking at them. It is a perfect base between lakes and Yorkshire dales so could visit both.

This cottage was perfect for our family, two adults and a 6 & 3 year old.

The bathroom is so luxurious and the living space is comfortable, modern and well equipped for families. We spent many happy hours relaxing there. The view is beautiful and we were made to feel so welcome by the adjacent house (the owners). The cottage is well located - you can go for walks from the cottage itself, or drive into near Kirkby Lonsdale for an ice cream or some shopping. We can't wait to book again!

Amy came to meet us shortly after our arrival & then we were then left to enjoy our holiday without interruption but knowing if we had a problem they were nearby.

We had a beautiful stay at Hawkrigg.

The views are spectacular and there's so much to do nearby. Huge favourites were the Ingleborough trail and cave and driving out over the Yorkshire dales to Hawes. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely town - we particularly enjoyed walking along the river by the devil's bridge up to Ruskin's view, as well as trips to Lancaster and Morecombe. The cottage itself is very comfortable, with lovely little touches like books and games for the children, and Emma was very welcoming and helpful. The attic bedroom did get a little warm at times, but was more than compensated for by the lovely shower!

We enjoyed the farm location, watching the various farming activities.

The views from the cottage were stunning and the building was a sun trap. At times it was like sitting in a conservatory. Good attention was paid to providing colourful plants in pots around the cottage. The family were welcoming and friendly.

The view from the cottage was absolutely stunning, and we thoroughly enjoyed being situated on a working farm and being surrounded by plenty of animals. The owners were very friendly and helpful, and gave us lots of information on things to do whilst we were there. Kirkby Lonsdale is 3 miles away and is easy to walk to with lots of beautiful views along the way and had a range of things to do and see, and is worth a visit. All in all an excellent trip away, would highly recommend!

This cottage was absolutely perfect.

Nestled against the hills with an amazing view, it couldn't have been more perfect for our purpose, which was a writing retreat. The welcome we received was lovely, and the property was warm and cosy when we went in. The kitchen is brilliant and fantastically equipped. The television even has Sky which was a bonus. The bedrooms are comfortable with ample storage. The local area is just beautiful, perfect for walkers or anybody looking for a nice, peaceful getaway from the chaos of modern life. I would definitely return.

The holiday was great the cottage is a gem...don't tell anyone about it....lol...really peaceful even though on a working farm one would not notice it....Emma and John...owners great...was really comfy and like home away from home.Location really central to get to interesting places...the views from the cottage worth working looking forward to waking up.Loved it will certainly return.

Quiet location.

Emma could not have been more helpful. Bottle of wine in the fridge, home made flapjack in the biscuit tin. very high standard of furnishings etc. just perfect.
