Kearton – Buttertubs is a lovely, first-floor apartment set within the Kearton Country Hotel, in the rural village of Thwaite near Muker.

Perfectly placed within the picturesque landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this charming apartment provides a welcoming base for couples to return to after a busy day exploring.

After parking in the off-road parking area, the apartment can be accessed through the bar lounge of the hotel.

Be welcomed into the living/dining room where you can rest on the chesterfield sofas and flick through the TV, gently easing you into the evening.

Rustle up a tasty snack in the compact but well-equipped kitchen, housing all the essential appliances, before taking a seat at the dining table and planning how best to spend the remainder of your getaway.

As you tire, head to either of the bedrooms to catch your rest, both of which are similarly furnished one with a double bed and one with twin beds which are zip/link and can be king-size on request and en-suite shower rooms, accommodating perfectly for couples.

Downstairs there is a tasty café serving hot drinks and sweet treats, as well as a lounge and bar, where you can enjoy a refreshing pint after a countryside ramble.

For walking lovers, you will find the Pennine Way passing through the village, offering a landscape steeped with history and spectacular scenery.

You can also explore along the Kisdon Force, a series of waterfalls flowing from the River Swale, or cycle along the windy roads of the Buttertubs Pass, cutting through the unspoilt countryside and ending in the village of Simonstone.

Explore the underground caves of Browgill and Whitescar or challenge yourself to a hike up the Great Shunner Fell.

Take a scenic car journey out to the market town of Richmonds, where you will find a wealth of amenities and attractions including a Norman castle, Georgian architecture, museums and monuments or travel north to Barnard Castle, home to God's Bridge, a scientific site of interest, and the impressive Bowes Museum, built in a stunning French-style château in the 19th century.

About the location

MUKER

Thwaite 1 mile; Reeth 8.9 miles; Richmond 25.5 miles

Muker is a village and civil parish at the western end of Swaledale, one of the Yorkshire Dales, in North Yorkshire, England. It is situated within the district of Richmondshire. From the late 19th century, Muker witnessed an increasing number of visitors and holiday makers, and today the village boasts many walking opportunities, with a selection of public footpaths in Upper Swaledale. Muker also hosts a village shop, as well as an art gallery, craft shop and a café within the old school building. Originally the Vicarage, the Muker village tea shop was built in 1680 and retains much of its 'Olde worlde charm' today. A Park Information Point for the Yorkshire Dales National Park can be found at the Muker Village shop. The village has one church; the Parish Church of Saint Mary, a Grade II* listed building. The River Swale runs parallel to the village, with Kisden Hill offering a charming backdrop.
