Jessie's Cottage

A lovely cottage in a great location.

We went in April and parking was not really a problem, but can imagine it would be harder in summer. Public transport is frequent though. We had a dog and a toddler with us and the cottage had everything we needed, and shops/services in Staveley were great too. Would definitely stay again!

Parking is tricky, but we were aware before going thanks to the property description. EV chargers very close by which was great for us too. The cottage is small, but very lovely. I’m 6’8” and my 15 year old son is 6’3”, and we fitted in the space and beds with no issue along with my wife and our 11 year son who is also 5’10”! The stairs are steep, but again no problem for us - I only mention as it may effect some peoples ability to stay there. Not having a washing machine was OK for our 4 night break, but one to be aware of if staying for longer, especially with kids and dogs and when getting out walking. I have no negatives to report for this cottage, the points above are all for information to allow people to decide if it will work for them. It worked for us, we loved it, and will be back again for sure.

Jessie's cottage is small but had everything we needed for your stay (3 adults plus 1 dog). Location is great - central in Staveley and just across the road from a grocery store. 2 mins to the local pub for a drink and food in front of a real fire. Both Sykes and the proprty owner were very responsive when we needed help with the heating. Resolved really quickly. Would highly recommend.

On arrival we realised the property was much smaller than depicted on the web sites pictures , the access to property was was very difficult as no parking was available we had to transfer our belongings a considerable distance .

The property is not suitable for elderly people as the bath room is down stairs . My wife fell at the bottom of the stairs, there is no hand rail at that point. the seated outside patio is a joke , as it overlooks in close proximity of 2 dustbins and delapidated old shed . It would be very cramped for 4 adults as there is only one 2 seater settee and armchair in the lounge . Pets are allowed but there is no secure area in the patio area , and care needs to taken with the front door as there isnt a proper door handle , if you forget to latch it on entry the door swings open , and dogs or children could run onto the busy main road . after my wifes fall she didnt want to go up the stairs again , so we tried to contact customer services which is closed while monday, this was sunday morning another number was given which we rang , no answer , we recieved a text that they would ring us in 20 minutes , which they did . we asked if we could move to another location , we were told the only was to buy another holiday , we finished up coming home that afternoon.

The cottage was very well presented and the wine and the dog treats and blanket was a nice touch.

Would have liked some cleaning products in the bathroom and kitchen but otherwise it was a very good experience and I will thoroughly recommend it.

Loved our break in Jessie's cottage, excellent location, sympathetically renovated, lovely decor and just big enough for the three of us (3 adults).

Loved the little touches, the welcome bottle of wine and milk, and the drinks bottles and Tupperware (the things I always forget!) We'd never been to Staveley before but will return, great walks from the doorstep, Wilfs cafe, the chippy, the Bakery, gelato shop, loved the brewery and had an excellent meal in the Eagle and Child. Only negative is the parking, we parked to unload outside but can only stay an hour there, for the rest of the weekend we parked on the Mill, we used the app and only moved the car once and it cost £30 for the weekend, we probably could have found a spot on the edge of the village if we had tried. Feels like we have found an hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle of the bigger towns in the Lakes!
