  • "What can I say, Stone Cross Mansion is like nowhere I’ve stayed before, it’s a beautiful property, well looked after and every detail has been carefully thought through."

    Both the grounds and communal areas offered plenty to do should you wish to stay around the property, as well as a being in a good location for exploring. The Margaret apartment was spacious, elegant and something really special, the photos don’t do it justice. Alison who works in the office and Kevin the maintenance guy were both really friendly and helpful, they couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable. Would highly recommend a stay in one of the many amazing apartments, so much so, we booked our returning holiday for next year whilst we were still there.

  • "We arrived for our stay at Stone Cross Mansion and were not disappointed."

    Our apartment was very clean and comfortable and was as described. The only points we would bring up are that in the welcome book it states allocated parking but this was not made clear to us so we parked wherever but there was ample parking available. Secondly the doors to the terrace from the bedroom have a hole in them- fine for us as we visited in the summer but could be draughty in colder months. This was a very comfortable apartment with plenty of outdoor games etc and we did enjoy the pool table.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

    Extremely clean apartment, a few minutes walk from the town, lovely grounds and gardens, plenty to do if you wanted to stay in the apartment - lots of games on the green if you wanted. Also a field just outside of the gates where you could let your dog off if needed. I am rebooking for next year already as enjoyed it that much. Very relaxing :-) five stars across the board

    We stayed over Christmas and were greeted in the entrance of this stunning building with a friendly welcome as soon as we arrived. The apartment was spacious, immaculately presented and well equipped with a cosy feel. Nothing was too much trouble for the team at Stone Cross. We will definitely be returning.   • "We were blown away by the beauty of Stone Cross Mansion and the Margaret Suite is beautiful with lovely views of the garden."

    Furnished to a very high standard and very comfortable esp the beds. The cleanliness was outstanding and the extras in the cupboard under the kitchen sink of washing up liquid to capsules for the washing machine was great. The welcome tray in addition to the water and milk in the fridge is a nice touch too. The separate entrance we used for the dog straight into the garden was a bonus and plenty of grass and safe walking opportunities for the early morning snuffle. We really enjoyed our break and hope to return in the near future.

  • "Mike and his Team at Stonecross Mansion are absolutely first class."

    Our stay was most comfortable, the surroundings and facilities are superb, and the mansion is a 10 minute walk from Ulverston. We stayed in the Margaret Suite for 7 nights, and Mike managed to accomodate us for an additional night in the Alice Suite due to an unexpected situation that arose on the first day of our stay. Mike and his team worked hard to ensure we had somewhere to stay as we were unable to travel home on the arranged date. Both suites had full self-catering, top of the range facilities, and the apartments were extremely clean. We would definitely love to go back, so we can really appreciate what the mansion has to offer. Thank you for making our stay a pleasant one.

  • "We stayed for a week in the Margaret apartment at Stonecross Manor and enjoyed it immensely."

    The apartment is beautifully decorated and very spacious, with huge ceilings and beautiful windows that look over the lawn. The communal areas of the hall itself are gorgeous, with lovely sofas and comfy chairs dotted about for you to enjoy the buildings history. There were communal outdoor games to play and the badminton sets were a huge hit with us and many other families. As the apartments are all brand new, everywhere is pristine. Our fridge wasn't cooling but Mike the property manager was super helpful and had a temporary replacement fridge ready for our arrival. We were asked by Mike if we had any feedback as they've only been open to guests for a coupe of weeks, so we mentioned a few additional items that would make the apartment even better and low and behold these arrived later that day!! Highly recommend staying here.

Lake Windermere 10 miles; Coniston Water 11 miles.

Ulverston is a traditional market town built around a cobbled main street. It boasts a fine selection of independent shops, café’s, and pubs with open fires and real ales. There is an extensive selection of eating places to suit everyone, from fine dining to traditional pub food. Ulverston is also well known as a festival town, with events ranging from flags and walking to art and music festivals throughout the summer months and with the renowned Dickensian Christmas festival in late November. It is the birthplace of Stan Laurel and world record holder of the biggest foam pie fight in the world giving a glimpse into the fun community spirited little town. There are excellent walks around the town and beautiful countryside, with views of the southern Lake District and Morecambe Bay. Home to the deepest, widest and shortest canal, which makes for a lovely afternoon walk with a pub at the end and views over the bay. All of the attractions of the National Park are also easily reached. The Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching. Nearby family attractions include the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, Lakes Windermere and Coniston and popular Birkrigg Common, with its incredible panoramic views across Morecambe Bay.
