The property

Allendale Town 5.5 miles.

Enjoying a rural position within the North Pennines AONB is this characterful, stone-built property, Isaacs Cottage, resting on the outskirts of the bustling town of Hexham.

This delightful, countryside retreat is perfect for a family seeking to explore one of the most unspoilt landscapes in the country, carved by heather moorland, breath-taking waterfalls and a number of pretty towns and villages.

After soaking up the rolling countryside surroundings, kick off your muddy boots within the porch before relaxing into your evening within the interior of the property, enjoying a blend of character and charm.

The kitchen comes well-equipped to fulfil your culinary needs, whether it be packing a picnic for a long walk or rustling up a delicious evening meal that can be enjoyed at the well-presented dining table.

After enjoying a delicious meal, venture into the sitting room where an open-fire welcomes you in, creating a truly tranquil setting for unwinding during a winter’s evening.

Venture up the staircase to find three elegantly-style bedrooms, comprising of one super king-size bedroom, one king-size and a single bedroom.

Each bedroom enjoys a refreshing ambiance, ample storage and views of the surrounding area to admire as you wake up each morning.

During a summer’s morning, look forward to enjoying a refreshing coffee upon the small patio area as you soak up the countryside setting further or enjoy a spot of alfresco dining as the sunsets over the hills.

If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic retreat, venture to the nearby town of Allendale, where you will find a quaint pub and a superb shop for picking up the essentials, there is also a heritage center and a cafe.

For a larger selection head slightly further afield to Hexham, where you will also be delighted to find the attractions of the 12th century abbey, Tyne Green and the wonderful Sele park.

For those feeling active, look forward to enjoying a scenic walk around River Allen East where you can walk amidst moorland, waterfalls and wildlife, alternatively, brush up on the local history by discovering the English Heritage ruins of Hadrian's Wall.

About the location

Hexham 11 miles; Allenheads 8 miles; Newcastle 34 miles.

The town of Allendale was once the centre of a busy lead mining area, and many relics of the mining era remain around the area. Allendale is ideally placed for access to Carlisle and Lake District to the west, Hexham, Newcastle and Durham to the east and the Hadrian's Wall just to the north, as well as the Scottish Borders. There are lots of walks, cycling opportunities and unspoilt villages in the surrounding North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which is an ideal location for exploring the surrounding countryside or travelling further north to the glorious Heritage Coastline. Allendale is home to the New Year tradition of Tar Bar'ls well worthing seeing or visit in the autumn to visit the Allen Valleys Folk Festival. Furthermore Allendale is a popular stay for cyclists carrying out the Coast to Coast.
