Description

Todmorden 2 miles.

A first class, detached cottage set high on the moorland, next to the owner's home, near the South Pennines village of Walsden, close to the market town of Todmorden. Lovingly restored, this cottage is full of character, seamlessly combining its original features including exposed stonework and old beams with contemporary fixtures and fittings. Situated in a beautiful area, this holiday home is the perfect base for friends and families to explore the South Pennines and the surrounding fells and valleys of the Brontë Moors. Upstairs offers a stylish, king-size double bedroom with single sofa bed, and picturesque views of the wild meadows and moorland. There is also another king-size double room and a twin room, modern family bathroom and a shower room. Prepare mouth-watering, home-cooked meals in the shaker-style kitchen and gather around the dining table to plan your adventures from this cottage near Todmorden. After a day walking across the glorious South Pennine Moors, or after spending time visiting some of the scenes where the drama series Happy Valley was filmed, retire to the spacious sitting room, featuring lovely wooden flooring, comfy seating, and a second dining area. Curl up by the cosy woodburning stove and catch up on some reading, the perfect way to escape the cold on winter nights. Outside, this cottage overlooks the owner's delightful, mature gardens; sit out on the patio and enjoy alfresco dining as you take in the stunning views. Take the dogs for their morning walks across the adjoining meadow, or hop on your bike and retrace the route the 2014 Tour de France took as they raced through the spectacular South Pennines countryside. The moorland around the cottage hosts an abundance of wildlife, a real birdwatchers dream. Explore the many walking routes criss-crossed across the Brontë Moors, including the nearby Pennine Way, and the Mary Towneley Loop, forming part of the Pennine Bridleway. The town of Todmorden hosts a market five days a week, and boasts a delightful selection of shops, pubs and cafés, often serving food locally produced in and around this ‘Incredible Edible’ town. Hebden Bridge is an easy drive away with its upbeat nightlife, fabulous curiosity shops, market held five days a week and the Hebden Bridge Picture House Cinema, serving tea and scones during the intervals! Visit the village of Heptonstall, with its two historic pubs, or explore the home of the Brontë sisters in nearby Haworth, while the bustling town of Skipton is also an easy drive away, which is just waiting to be discovered. This cottage is an excellent base for a family break, escaping the hustle and bustle of everyday life and exploring the South Pennine Moors, at any time of year.

Such a shame that this lovely cottage has been let down by the cleanliness.

Great position and has obviously been renovated in the past to a good standard but feel the owners have lost interest. Terrible smell in the bathroom, dirty shower, cobwebs, dog hairs over all the furniture and dining table, could go on . Had to clean on arrival. Reported to the owners who appeared disinterested, looking at some previous reviews this is not the first time. Such a shame.
