Ellwood house is perfectly placed in Caldbeck, for anyone who hasn’t visted its the most gorgeous friendly village - the muddy duck and the oddfellows are 10/10 food venues.

The only thing that would make this accommodation perfect would be a hot tub outside haha! The accommodation has everything you need, it’s got a cosy home from home feel and the owner Stuart is incredibly helpful with recommendations for hikes etc… we really look forward to returning again and again :) Our only negative is that the cottage isn’t 100% dog friendly as the Sykes listing states - unfortunately when you arrive at the property, the vistors guide states all dogs must be kept downstairs which is a shame. Outside of this, we cannot fault this property it was great and we really enjoyed our stay!!!

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage.

My husband particularly mentioned how comfortable it was. The garden was very pretty and enclosed to about 3' for children and dogs. We also enjoyed the far reaching views around the area, especially from Caldbeck common on the Wigton road where you can see right out over the Solway and up to Scotland. Excellent produce from the village store and Sunday dinner at the Oddfellows Arms.

Ellwood House is a fantastic cottage in the beautiful village of Caldbeck.

It was clean, very comfortable and with a very well equipped kitchen. Everything we needed for a great holiday. It's in a beautiful area to explore and the village itself has a great pub for dining, The Oddfellows. Also a great cafe for lunches, The Muddy Duck. The cottage garden is really lovely and a great place to sit out and enjoy the sunshine. We would definitely recommend a stay at Ellwood House.
