Spens Farm Cottage

The cottage was very comfortable, and very well-equipped, and the owners friendly and helpful in responding to a couple of questions before I arrived.

The location is very peaceful and quiet, and the surrounding area - the Trough of Bowland - is beautiful countryside. I really enjoyed my week at the cottage.

A wonderful cottage in an idyllic location with fab hosts.

This is a very well equipped cottage in a peaceful environment yet ideally located between the Dales, the Lakes and the Lancashire coastline. It has a well equipped kitchen, a super bathroom (shower was fab after a day's walking) and a comfy bedroom. The hosts were there if you needed, but let you crack on - which was perfect for me.

A non slip mat for the shower would be very helpful.

Spens Cottage is truly off the beaten track! The landscape of Forest of Bowland was a fantastic discovery - lovely villages and pubs, wild and wonderful scenery and a great places for walking and touring. The cottage was perfect - warm, comfortable, tastefully decorated and furnished and really well equipped. With a brilliant shower - such a delight after a wet day's walking! It was great to have two good walks in the local area, starting from the cottage's front door. Great, friendly and helpful owners too. Thank you Sal and Kev, we loved our week in your cottage.

If you want a quiet get-away-from-it-all, this is the place for you. Excellent accomodation, exactly as described, and owners Sal & Kev couldn't be more welcoming and helpful.

The location is very tranquil and next to nature and we had a wonderful holiday. The owners are lovely, very helpful and friendly and we would definitely like to go back. Lots of walks, bike rides in the area and very close to the Dales.

We spent a fantastic week at Spens Farm Cottage, with Sal & Kev proving to be the perfect hosts.

As well as the cottage being an ideal base to explore the region (Lancaster, especially the Castle, and Arnside being particular highlights), it was also an ideal location to spend a quiet & relaxing day there enjoying the wildlife. The cottage is well equipped and also has an almost endless box of suggested walks - Sal & Kev can also suggest more tailored options too. Beautiful cottage in a very peaceful setting with friendly owners living next door.

Plenty of footpaths to go out walking directly from the cottage Lots of places to visit with it being on the boundries of Cumbria, Lancashire, North Yorkshire and Forest of Bowland. Would highly recommend it.

We found this property to be excellent in so many ways and would be very happy to stay again.

There is an obvious and beautiful attention to detail in how the owners present and maintain the cottage, we really appreciated this aspect- top marks!!! Superb shower, the best I've used. Very welcoming hosts. It is in a very quiet restful location, excellent for the western areas of the Yorkshire Dales, the Forest of Bowland and the southern parts of the Lake District.

Spens Farm cottage is so well presented with lovely furnishings.

Very cozy and comfortable .It is set in the perfect place to enjoy the peace and quiet and walks by the river in beautiful wooded surroundings, whilst being in the ideal area to visit many scenic places near by. Both Sally and Kev were very kind and helpful and thanks to Kev we got the chance to see the deer on the hill before it disappeared We had a wonderful relaxing 4 night stay and would love to return again.

Second time here!

It is a lovely place to relax and unwind. Very clean and has everything you need to cook a meal and more. Lots of local walks and loads of places to visit. The night skies are really dark so don’t forget your binoculars. The owners are lovely,very discreet but there if you need them.

Spen Farm Cottage is perfect.

Looking for a place where you can really relax in beautiful surroundings look no further. The cottage itself is very well equipped and of good quality. At the end of the day the pretty courtyard garden facing west is a real sun trap to partake of a glass of wine (or two). There is plenty of walking from the door on footpaths, tracks and also along minor roads. There are lots of other places to see and things to do just a short car journey away. The owners Sally and Kevin are welcoming, helpful and discreet. We simply had a wonderful week, thank you.

Last minute booking.

We had a lovely week in this very comfortable little cottage. Our picnic breakfast by the babbling brook will linger in memory! This is a beautiful part of the world and the cottage provides a great opportunity to 'get away from it all'. Ingleton to Hawes is a drive not to be missed; Kirkby Lonsdale and Settle are lovely little towns; Sizergh Castle and the lakes are very close. Worth noting that petrol stations are thin on the ground - top up when out and about to avoid a longish drive to Ingleton - Yorkshire miles! The owners were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

If you like Countryside, Quiet, Comfy, Cosy, Clean, Pet Free, and Sitting Out in Early Evening with a Glass of Wine, then this is the place. Kendal, Morecambe, and Windermere are all within easy reach. Thank you Kev and Sal, it was nice to come back, and great weather too.

The cottage is in a quiet rural location with lovely views. It has all home comforts including satellite TV and high speed wi-fi internet. It is a great base to explore the Forest of Bowland, the South Lakes and the Yorkshire dales.

The property is situated in a beautiful valley in the Forest of Bowland, with helpful and friendly hosts next door.

The cottage was perfect for two people and had everything we needed. The coast and Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach and there was plenty to do and see in this lovely area.

Nothing went wrong with the holiday.

The owners were very kind & helpful people & everything in the cottage was absolutely tip top. The surrounding area provided us with an excellent week's walking ( the owners supply of local extracts of O S maps was very useful) & the views were spectacular in so many places. We could not have asked for more. However, your performance in the process was appalling. Sending us 23 emails over a period of a few weeks suggested that double glazing sales might feature in your future plans. Two early emails about the cottage location & details of equipment & facilities were useful & were duly printed off. This last one for feedback might well help you in future planning & policy. The ones in between, had they been in paper form, would have made good firelighters.

We had a lovely break at this beautiful cottage.

We did not use the car at all - always a sign of a good holiday - the surrounding countryside provides lots of walks on quiet lanes and farmland. The owners were exceptionally helpful and have put a lot of attention to detail into this perfect cottage.

We found the instructions a little vague and without our detailed OS map we would have wasted a lot of time trying to find the cottage.

The cottage itself was beautiful and very comfortable. The owners made themselves known to us and were helpful in their local recommendations. We took full advantage of the glorious weather we had and walked every day to places of interest. The cottage is situated in a beautiful valley and we were pleased to have found it. We would certainly recommend it to our friends.

When you arrive at a property and it looks exactly like the photos on the website is definitely a bonus.

What a lovely place to stay. Comfortable furniture and beds, and everything that we needed, plus some extra goodies, and Sal and Kev were on hand to sort out any queries. Mobile phone coverage was a little bit erratic, but Wi-Fi Calling worked brilliantly with the High Speed Broadband. Quiet and peaceful and yet only a short drive to local shops and for eating out, also good road connection for exploring the area. Kendal, Morecambe, Lancaster, and Skipton are all within easy reach. Another excellent property from Sykes Cottages.

Had a fabulous time we spent a week here the cottage was spotless and everything you required was provided.

Even left milk,tea,coffee,sugar and some lovely biscuits. The cottage is in an ideal location for Lancashire and The Lakes some lovely towns/villages. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to family/friends if visiting the area.
