Description
Langcliffe 0.5 miles.
A delightful, old stone-built cottage situated close to the pretty Ribblesdale village of Langcliffe. Formerly the home of a mill worker, Locks Cottage stands at the end of a small row of traditional Dales cottages and is surrounded by peaceful Dales countryside. The setting is idyllic - the cottage overlooks an old mill pond and is close to the River Ribble as it winds downstream towards the popular market town of Settle. The cottage has been modernised, equipped and furnished to a high standard and enjoys lovely views over the garden and mill pond to the trees and hills beyond. There is excellent walking from the doorstep, not least along the riverbank. A wonderful base for a peaceful Dales holiday.

What guests are saying
Very clean and warm cottage with everything we needed.
Lovely location, easy walk into Settle, felt very relaxed from the moment we arrived. Very narrow lane down to the cottage but passing places made it easy and part of the character of the area. Very friendly area. Ideal location for exploring the 3 peaks, walking from the door. Will definitely return as had such a lovely week and the owner seemed to have thought of everything guests might need.
Spotlessly clean , nicely furnished perfect situation for walking and exploring the Dales
Before I booked I did notice quite a negative review from another guest, however I'm happy to report that I don't agree with the negative review.
The place was clean, had plenty of cups plates cutlery etc, dish washer was added bonus, I didn't use the washing machine. No issues with the bed or the sofa and chairs. It had a dining table in both the kitchen and front room. Towels and linen were clean. The back garden looks directly over the duck pond with loads of ducks. The owner was nice and even called to let us know her husband found my husband's glasses on the floor whilst he was putting the bins out. The cottage was very warm and cosy with gas central heating and a coal fire with kindling and smokeless coal provided. I forgot my hairdryer unfortunately one wasn't provided which is not down to the owner to provide one but a lot do. The parking wasn't an issue for my husband, but we do live in North Wales so we're used to narrow lanes. You do have to drive down a not very busy narrow lane, then when you get down you have to turn your car around and reverse back into your space between cars parked on both sides. However if your uncomfortable doing this, a few people parked just before the the turning bay, they had to walk for about 3 minutes to the house. Your bay will be the furthest back so at least you don't have to park between 2 cars. In my opinion theirs not enough room for 2 cars to park outside locks cottage like the listing says but definitely enough room for one. We had a VW Golf. Would I stay again, yes. Would I recommend Locks cottage, yes. We had a lovely comfortable week. Must do's in the area of wow remember your walking boots and sticks if you have them. White scar cave was brilliant, Ingleton waterfalls trail 4.5 miles, you will get hot, lots of steps and rugged ground, but worth it. The Labyrinth: The Forbidden Corner. It is a deliberate, four-acre hedge and stone labyrinth built strictly for quirky exploration. It is packed with hidden underground chambers, Bolton castle is in the same area as the Forbidden corner and is also well worth a visit. Ingleborough estate nature trail to Ingleborough cave Reached via a gentle, smooth 1.3-mile estate nature trail rather than a mountain trek. The cave was discovered by Victorians who drained an underground lake by candlelight. It is fully lit with a flat concrete pathway leading you deep under the mountain. Mirror pools, fossils , continue the walk up hill ( now it becomes a trek) to Trow Gill, then continue again up, up, up, through gates and styles to Gaping Gill in the middle of what looks like the middle of the moors/ Field walking boots needed and probably a bottle of water which you can but from the small basic shop at the cave. The Settle to Carlisle was an amazing journey theirs a tunnel the train passes through and it must be one the longest tunnels around. Id like to Thank Jannet and her husband for renting their cottage out as I said we had a lovely stay.
