A pleasant week spent in a comfortable homely cottage.

Owners friendly and on hand if any problems arise. Comfortable lounge and beds. A good base for exploring the area, but not a lot in Fulbeck itself.

Fulbeck is an excellent central location to explore Lincolnshire, with easy access to the A1 national route.

This village would notably suit tourists discovering the British and American aviation history of Lincolnshire, Operation MARKET GARDEN, the life of Sir Isaac Newton, railway heritage, the ironstone industry, rural architecture and old churches. Culinary enthusiasts may enjoy the heart of pork pie country, with notable retail outlets at Grantham and Melton Mowbray. King's Cottage could be convenient for people visiting a family member at RAF Cranwell, RAF Barkston Heath, the University of Evansville at Harlaxton Manor or the adventure training centre at Caythorpe Court. Fulbeck has a hilltop country pub with restaurant, nearby rural walks with possible blackberrying in season, local cricket matches to watch in summer and even a view over a vineyard. The North Sea coast, Nottingham and Sherwood Forest are within reach by cross-country drive on secondary roads. Visitors to King's Cottage could just about make the trip by public transport, as the cottage is barely five minutes' walk from a bus stop for Lincoln or Grantham (closer), via the surrounding villages. It is, however, clearly easier by car, and there is both off-road or safe street parking. There is a superette in the nearby village of Caythorpe, whose Indian restaurant also merits mention, as does the community shop at Marston. Grantham and Sleaford both have large supermarkets. The owners of King's Cottage live in an adjoining house and were happy to provide local knowledge and small practical assistance when required. The house has a large salon, comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen (but no mechanical dishwasher); the toilet/bath room is entirely correct and there is a fenced part of the garden for visitors' exclusive use. There is good television and wifi reception. The location is quiet, save possibly for pigeons. It must be made clear is that the cottage is unsuitable for people with reduced physical mobility, and even able-bodied people may find its indoor staircase quite steep. This is the only real caveat and we are very happy to say that we enjoyed our holiday here.
