Description

Snaith 3.8 miles.

Nestled in the quaint village of Hensall in North Yorkshire is Dovecote Farm House.

This charming property makes for a spectacular holiday setting thanks to its contemporary interior that has been seamlessly blended with original features such as exposed stone walls, exposed beams, woodburning stoves and feature fireplaces.

After exploring the surrounding countryside, cross the threshold into the spacious entrance hall and kick off your muddy boots before heading into the fully-equipped kitchen to prepare a hearty meal.

Enjoy this together with a group at the dining table before stepping outside to soak up the last of the sun with a glass of wine in hand; on colder evenings snuggle up in front of the warming woodburning stove and flick on the TV.

Later, climb the stairs to wash off the day in the bathroom before retiring to one of four bedrooms; choose from a king-size with en-suite cloakroom, two doubles or a twin.

Adjacent to the property is the owners restaurant, the very popular LA Anchor Bar and Restaurant, a stylish setting with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, serving Italian cuisine by Italian chefs, booking is recommended!

Dovecote Farm House lies close to the town of Snaith which houses convenience stores to ease your self-catered stay and a couple of pubs perfect for treating your loved ones to a delicious meal.

The property is surrounded by a wealth of attractions; head into Pontefract to tour its impressive 11th century fort or Castleford to treat the kids to a day of fun at Diggerland.

York is just a short drive away; allow yourself to be charmed by its cobbled streets before roaming York City Walls, the National Trust site Treasurers House and Clifford’s Tower.

The city also has a fantastic selection of bars and pubs such as Evil Eye, The Habit Cafe Bar, and Dusk, ideal for those seeking a more vibrant nightlife.

Although slightly further afield both the Peak District National Park and North York Moors National Park are easily accessible by car and provide a wealth of walking, hiking, and cycling opportunities with chances to admire breath-taking views across the English countryside.

Make memories at Dovecote Farm House.

The house is beautifully decorated and well fitted throughout, with high-quality furniture, tiling and furnishings.

The beds and sofas were all comfortable, although we felt the linen could be improved. There were also all the necessary appliances and gadgets. However, some things did not work as well as they should: The front door key (only one was provided) required a great deal of force to lock the door. The waterfall shower tap was also very stiff. We only just managed to adjust it to a comfortable temperature. The TV kept turning itself off, to the point of being unusable. Of the four bedrooms, only one bedside had a lamp, and this was quite dim. There was some signage and messaging around the property that we felt could be presented more positively. Regarding the accuracy of the listing, the property is described as having two bathrooms. In practice, it has one bathroom and one en-suite WC with a hand basin. The more detailed property description accurately reflects this.

We had a lovely mid week break at Dovecote Farm House.

Plenty of room for the 7 of us (four adults and three children), comfortable and nicely decorated. We appreciated the voucher for La Anchor and had a delicious meal on our last night. For younger children, there is a play park a few minutes walk away and another at the other end of the village.

Potential to be 5*, but let down by a few basic things: no potato peeler, no instructions for induction hob, no chopping board, bedside lamps missing in some rooms, very small kitchen waste bin.

Beautifully clean, lots of space, quiet environment, nice touch receiving voucher for La Anchor restaurant, helpful owners.
