What guests are saying
Positives The property is in a nice location, with a good driveway for parking and an enclosed garden, which was useful.
The bed was also very comfortable. Negatives Unfortunately, the overall standard of the property was disappointing. The house is decorated to a very poor standard and is clearly in need of a significant refurbishment. The kitchen in particular is showing considerable signs of wear, with cupboards and fittings appearing to be in poor condition. More generally, the property feels poorly maintained, with many items looking tired and towards the end of their useful life. Having used Sykes for many years, this is the first time we have felt that a property may not have been properly inspected or assessed. I struggle to understand how this property could have been awarded four ticks, as the condition we found it in does not reflect that rating. Overall, we were disappointed with the property, although we were fortunate that the cost was relatively low at £74 per night. The housekeeping bond was also somewhat surprising given the overall condition and standard of the property, where there appeared to be very little that would be worth replacing.
A basic but comfortable little house, within easy reach of all the walking you want!
The village shop has a useful range of anything you might need in an emergency, and the butcher in Welshpool is excellent. Suggestions for improvements: kitchen: sieve, cutlery drainer, more place settings, washing machine(!) bathroom: wall mirror, heated towel rail, more hand towels (esp for 2 week stay), window seal needs a proper clean hall: some sort of boot/shoe rack (it's nice to have plenty of coat hooks) living room: replacing the door would make it more cosy, decent sized coffee table bedrooms: bigger bedside tables (taller & wider), maybe with cupboard/drawers (for socks etc). The mattress is nice & firm. throughout: more pictures etc would make it feel more like a home
An enjoyable stay- place was clean, comfy and had all we needed.
Beds good and we slept well. We enjoyed the local pub for drinks and food. Village shop is handy and has a sweet little cafe.
