Description

Llangadfan 1 mile.

A picturesque 18th century detached cottage set close to the owner’s home, on a 5 acre smallholding in a peaceful rural location close to the small villages of Llangadfan and Foel.

The owners are artists, and this charming Llangadfan cottage is beautifully furnished and decorated throughout in a country theme with an artistic chic style and is perfect for a family holiday.

Inside this Mid Wales cottage there are three bedrooms, a bathroom, a shower room, and an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with woodburning stove.

Outside this cottage near Foel is a lawned garden ideal for relaxing or wining and dining after a pleasant riverside walk, bird watching or fishing beside the banks of the River Banwy which runs through the owner’s land.

The village of Llangadfan is a convenient base for touring all of Mid and North Wales and into Shropshire, or for enjoying the outdoor activities in the area.

There are wonderful walks with the Glyndwr's Way passing this Llangadfan cottage and from the village there is a scenic 4 mile ramble over the rolling Montgomeryshire Hills, or wander through the nearby 6000 acre Dyfnant Forest.

Only 9 miles away from this Mid Wales cottage is Lake Vyrnwy, a renowned Nature Reserve and RSPB site, which provides long walks and bike trails.

Visit Powis Castle and gardens, Pistyll Rhaeadr, the highest waterfall in Wales and Llanfair Caereinion, which is 7 miles away and is home to the famous steam railway and an excellent cafe.

Also in the area is the market town of Machynlleth, the Tabernael Art Centre, the exciting Centre of Alternative Technology and all of the Snowdonia National Park, including the magnificent Mount Snowdon.

The stunning beaches at Barmouth and Harlech, and the market towns of Dolgellau and Montgomery are also within easy driving distance.

The property is charming as it is so old and has a lot of character and history.

However we felt it was tired and needed a good spruce up whilst understanding the limitations that an old property brings. Examples are a spruce up/refit of the shower room needed, a new shower curtain, all curtains in the property were old and dirty and all need replacing or maybe try washing them and see if they come up better afterwards? More knives and forks would be useful. We were a group of three ladies walking Glyndwr’s Way, very well placed as close to the path so often muddy and wet on our return home each night and the property suited us well as it was able to suit our muddy attire without us damaging or making anything dirty. A general redecoration/attention to detail and the points raised above would really enhance the property. None of the above spoilt our trip, it’s just not a place you’d go if you wanted luxury accommodation. The large basket of logs was very welcome and we used the fire each night after a long hard day’s walking.

Had a great week in Beudy Dolplebyll.

It does not get much more rural than this. I do not know how they managed to get so much into a building this size ( 3 bedrooms, 2 Toilets, lounge, and kitchen.) Everything you could need is at hand. One tip , do not follow sat-nav, it stops before you get there. One regret, no sheep in the paddock !!!!!.
