What guests are saying
Stayed for five nights, the apartment is very well located, it has superb views and is very spacious.
We really enjoyed our stay. It would have been nice to have some basic amenities provided like tea/coffee, milk bread, shower gel and shampoo etc as that would have made the stay feel a bit more personal. We took our dog with us, it’s worth noting that there is a secure garden with access which is nice but the beach is across the street and so very good for the dog. I would say that many restaurants and pubs in the area and surrounding areas are not dog friendly so please do your research! This came to us as a surprise. Else we had a lovely stay, you will not get bored of the views or the beach that’s for sure !
It is a lovely apartment with a wonderful view of the sea.
Unfortunately, it is very poorly maintained, which is a real shame: although the surfaces were reasonably clean, the drawers and shelves were sticky and dusty in places, so we had to clean them first. The Teflon pans were unusable because they were completely scratched; the tap in the kitchen was broken; there was stagnant, foul-smelling water in the dishwasher, which obviously couldn't drain. As described by other customers on several occasions, the water in the kitchen and bathroom sink hardly drained at all. By chance, we discovered that the local contact organization, Menai Holidays, has an office in Pwllheli. We reported the defects there in person. They took care of it immediately (thank you, Menai Holidays!): we got new pans and a plumber came by. He determined that the washing machine was blocking the drain pipe and therefore could not be pushed all the way to the back wall – it was that simple. Last but not least: we will never book through Sykes Cottages again. We tried several times to clarify whether the cleaning costs were included in the rental price (information that is missing from the website). We have not received a response to this question to date.
A lovely apartment.
Comfortable and clean although the carpet in the living room needs a deep clean as stained and a little grubby. Fantastic view of sea and location perfect. We had a few maintenance issues. Plumbing/drains were a problem but a neighbour lent us a plunger so we managed to unblock sinks. Shower door needs attention as doesn’t slide properly. Fan not working. No bulb in lamp and none spare where stated. Towel rail ready to come off wall. Found previous visitors toys under bed. None of these spoiled the holiday but the price we paid we shouldn’t have had any issues. A lot of noise late at night from above but not the fault of the owners of this apartment. If maintenance issues are sorted I’d return.
