Rockhill Farm Hay Barn

This was our second stay in Rockhill Farm Hay Barn.

We loved it just as much as our first. Spotlessly clean and welcoming, it's such a wonderful place. Perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peace and the views or as a base for exploring the delightful local villages and beautiful Shropshire hills. Vaughan and Eileen (& Monty

Beautifully refurbished hay barn with everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Well equipped kitchen with good utensils, we enjoy cooking and it had everything we needed (that's rare). There are several pubs a drive away if you'd rather eat out. Lovely comfy beds. Great for dog owners, our elderly Cockerpoo enjoyed the huge contained paddock especially as we were blessed with hot sunny weather during our stay. Owners are friendly and on hand to help promptly with any queries. EV charger useful as location is fairly rural. We usually feel ready to get back to home comforts after a week away, not so this time! Thank you for a much needed restful break, would stay again, Melissa, Mark (and Eddie)

Really lovely stay at Rockhill Farm Hay Barn, the cottage was immaculate, had everything you needed and was very comfortable.

Perfect accommodation for dog owners.

The property itself is well appointed and has everything you need for your stay. If you have a dog there is a 4 acre field which our dog loved chasing a ball in. Also a good property for EV owners as there is access to a charger. Vaughan was perfect host and could not have been more helpful. Some good hilly walks within a short distance. Postcard cafe in the village for excellent home made food and cakes/scones.

We had a really enjoyable stay here.

The location was ideal and made it easy to explore the surrounding area without any hassle. The place itself was well equipped with everything we needed and very comfortable, which made it easy to relax after a day out. The hosts were excellent, friendly, responsive, and always willing to help with anything we needed, which made a big difference to our overall experience. It’s a great base for a trip and we’d definitely consider staying again.

A compact property but as a family of 4 with a dog it never felt cramped at all and it comfortably fits all mod-cons - everything we needed was catered for.

Thanks to Vaughan for being the consummate host - always on hand to answer our questions and give recommendations, but never intrusive.

Superb barn conversion set in the rolling Shropshire hills, very peaceful.

All the rooms are finished to a very high standard and were immaculately clean, from super comfortable beds to the well equipped kitchen, we had a perfect stay. For hill walkers, the barn is conveniently located for Offa's Dyke, Long Mynd and Stiperstones, great walking country without the crowds. Highly recommended, thank you Vaughan and Eileen!

Upon arrival at Rockhill farm Hay barn we were delighted with the beautiful view and the design and quality of the accommodation.

It appears to have recently been completed to a very high standard (probably the best fittings and finish we've experienced). We found the large adjacent field (with fire pit and superb views) to be great for our spainiel's morning and evening mad runarounds. We did walk into Clun by the quiet back lanes for a friendly drink in the Rising Sun and lunch in a great quirky cafe by the bridge . We visited Mortimer Forest (walks and picnic area), historic Ludlow (great guided walking tour by the castle ) and Offa's Dyke (steep but worth it!) Vaughan the owner was very welcoming and helpful. Overall the area is beautiful and uncrowded.

Rockhill Farm Hay Barn is easily one of the best holiday rentals we’ve ever stayed in.

Our host, Vaughan, was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and always quick to respond to any messages. The hay barn itself was spotless and beautifully presented, recently renovated with high-spec finishes throughout. Every window offers a view that looks like it belongs in a countryside painting. But don’t miss the chance to walk to the top of the field behind the farm—it's absolutely worth the effort. From there, you’ll find a peaceful spot with stunning views across rolling hills, fields, and farms. We’ll definitely be back.

Fantastic property.

Private. Superbly appointed interior. Peace and quiet. Tranquil surroundings. Love the land behind the barn. To sit at the fire put area and enjoy the view. Delighted to have found this property to stay in. Thank you to Vaughan for his hospitality.

A lovely well appointed two bedroomed property near to Clun.

Downstairs had a very comfortable lounge section and also a kitchen area that had everything you could possibly need. It was very clean and obviously recently refurbed. Upstairs there are two bedrooms with plenty of storage and very comfortable beds. One bedroom opens on to the patio/barbecue area.We did see some rabbits in the nearby grassy area! The bathroom was also well appointed with a walk in shower only. That was fine for us. The only small niggle I had was that there was no shelf to put my toiletries on. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and it is well situated to go out and about to places like Stokesay Castle, Clun Castle and even Wenlock Priory. We had a lovely stay and would certainly return if in the area..

This is a 5* accommodation, it’s absolutely wonderful and although the pictures on the website are great, they do not do it justice as the Hay Barn is outstanding.

Everything has been extremely well planned in the with residents’ every need catered for. A beautiful house in a stunning location with truly welcoming owners (accompanied by Monty, the owner’s gorgeous Labrador!). My family and I had a wonderful stay and will rebook again. We have already recommended this to our family members, two of which are also going to book to stay here! A wonderful holiday, thank you very much.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Rockhill Farm Hay Barn this weekend, and it was simply perfect.

The sunshine made the stunning countryside views even more spectacular, and the peaceful setting made for a truly relaxing escape. Rockhill Farm Hay Barn offered the perfect reset for us and our dog Albie.

The location strikes just the right balance – remote and rural, but still close to convenience. The barn itself is stunning and is equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay for two or four people. Each bedroom has ample storage with plenty of hanging space, which was ideal for bulky winter layers in February. The secure outdoor paddock offered us a safe space to exercise Albie, which was a major plus for the property and a very rare find. There are beautiful walks right from the doorstep with a great selection of routes close-by. We walked one day for four hours without meeting a single person. Just what we needed! It's the perfect place to unwind, recharge and enjoy some down time. We loved our stay and would love to return in the future. Thank you for a fantastic and much needed break!

We had a great stay at Rockhill Farm Wain house.

The cottage was really comfortable and well equipped. Everything felt fresh and done to a high standard and things like the fire pit and bbq were nice touches. The cottage is near to the lovely village of Clun and is surrounded by beautiful countryside. Vaughan was welcoming and helpful and I’m sure we’ll be back. Thanks for a great stay!

Our second visit to Rockhill Farm and it was as wonderful as last time.

It was great to have our family from the USA. accommodated in the Wain House, beautifully appointed with all you could need, while we had the Farmhouse. Makes a great location for an extended family holiday break.

Amazing property everything you need for 4 people.

Lovely to have access to the fields beyond and sit and light fire and admire the amazing view. The owner Vaughan was there if you needed him, but otherwise left us alone. There is another cottage on same site but does not impact, plenty of parking for both cottages. Fabulous place for family stays very local to Clun for amenities. Loved our stay thank you Vaughan.

Lovely little cottage in a beautiful location, we very much enjoyed our stay.

The cottage was immaculate with everything you might need. Owner was on hand to meet us and was very welcoming. We had our young dog with us which meant we could take advantage of a secure field behind the cottage. There was lots of recall training to be had which was great. Cottage was dog friendly (bed and treats provided) however we really struggled with the 'no dogs on the furniture or upstairs' rule which our pup found difficult to understand. We might suggest some sort of gate to help stop dogs as we had to fashion one using the kitchen bin! We would also recommend making sure this information is communicated before arrival as the Sykes dog checklist just mentions bringing throws for the furniture which we had done. Overall the cottage was lovely and well placed to access the outstanding Shropshire countryside.

Rockhill is a wonderful place.

The owners have created something very special here. The Wainhouse is spotlessly clean, extremely well equipped and the whole property is so well thought through. The outside spaces are perfect for a pup and the views so beautiful to wake up to. Vaughan was always so helpful and friendly. The area is so pretty, with plenty of walks and lots of lovely little villages to explore- all within a half hour radius. Book here. You will be so glad you did.

What a great find!

The Wain House is extremely well equipped for humans and four legged friends! Thoughtful touches by the owners who are on hand should you need them but equally allow you your privacy. Extremely clean, very comfortable beds, amazing shower. Games and books for guests to use. Thoroughly recommend a stay at The Wain House, you won't be disappointed.
