Great place to stay for two weeks.

Very comfortable and with all amenities you could want. Layout perfect for my two dogs enabling both to settle well indoors and fenced garden was great for them. Information in folders on local walks was outstanding and owners very welcoming and on hand, if needed. Their attention to detail made this holiday even better. Well recommended

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, and a great base to explore the surrounding area.

View from kitchen window has stunning scenery and local wildlife, so most morning departures were delayed a little as we were distracted watching the world outside. Su & Iain (and doggies) very friendly and informative with lots of advice on what the area has to offer, very much appreciated. We can highly recommend The Bothy, and look forward to returning.

The Bothy is the perfect wee hideaway as a base from which to explore beautiful Glen Clova and the surrounding areas.

It's situated in a fabulous, peaceful area filled with the beauty of nature; we spent the mornings watching the wildlife as we had breakfast, and, at night, there were star-filled dark skies and the mysterious calling of the nearby but tantalisingly invisible red deer stags. Su and Iain are lovely, thoughtful hosts. They have considered everything that can make a stay magickal, by being on hand to share tips about what seasonal highlights to look out for in the area, and by being available if we needed anything at all. They also have the skill of knowing when folk want to just kick back, relax, and enjoy the quiet beauty of the Glen, so, great, intuitive people skills! We visited as the late September colours made the surroundings beautiful. There were misty mornings and a Winter-bound nip in the air, so we cosied up in the evenings round the log fire and savoured a dram. There are plenty of lovely distilleries near, from Arbikie to Fettercairn, which are highlights as their visitor experiences really are worth seeking out if you drink alcohol. And even if not (or you are designated driver) lunch at Arbikie is amazing. All in all this was a fabulous, battery-recharging stay in a thoroughly lovely place.

Su and Ian were brilliant, full of local knowledge,nothing was too much trouble for them. The Bothy had absolutely everything we needed and more. Fantastic location, with wildlife galore, excellent walks, highly recommended.

We had an amazing stay at the Bothy.

Su and Iain were great hosts and extremely helpful with local information and walks to try. The area is stunning, if you like quiet spaces with no one around this is for you. The wildlife around you is endless we spent many hours just sat outside watching life go by and taking in the views around us. The Bothy has the most amazing kitchen window looking out across the glen. It is comfortable and has ample equipment in the kitchen. The colours across the hills is beautiful and breath taking. We will certainly be going back next year.

What a wonderful stay!

The views, the peace, the wildlife and a beautiful cottage to stay in, what more could you ask for? Sue and Iain were wonderful hosts, always on hand for advice but not intrusive and we took up their recommendations of where to visit which were stunning. Glen Cova is a must, as is Lunan Bay and the Wee Bear Cafe. We could not get over the views and the tranquility. We will definitely be back. Thank you for such a wonderful week.

Sue and Iain were very welcoming and some great touches regarding local facilities and walks. Fantastic location and the sheep rabbits and bird feeders meant we always had ‘friends’ join us for breakfast and dinner through the window. Wonderful setting. Thanks for everything.

This cottage is absolutely beautiful.

It has everything you need ,well equipped, and spotless. The views are amazing. If you want peace and quite ,this is for you.Not far to travel for a village or town.The owners are lovely and very helpful and friendly, with out being intrusive. Brilliant for a couple or single. Superb little property, perfect for a cosy getaway.

Very well equipped, perfectly clean, and very informative and friendly owners. Great for the dogs, who were made to feel very welcome, and well situated to explore the area on lots of fantastic walks. Will definitely be back!

I absolutely loved the bothy everything about it was perfect everything was thought of and to hand .

We arrived in the dark our host was outside with a torch to show our way log burner lit so welcoming and very helpful when we saw our surroundings the next day it was just wow!!! Sue and Ian shared places of interest and about the area we were in It was perfect .

The Bothy was everything we could have hoped for a warm welcome from sue the owner when we arrived, it was cosy,warm and very well equipped and the views were amazing we enjoyed the shortbread that was left for us and even treats for the dogs .

sue and Iain told us about some places of interest that we might like to see which was very much appreciated .we will definitely be back.

Peaceful and quiet - therapy!

An absolute joy of a property.

We have had quite a few Sykes vacations but The Bothy tops them all. The views from The Bothy are stunning. The different species of birds and wildlife is amazing. Beautiful places to visit in the area. Iain and Sue are wonderful hosts non intrusive but there if needed. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Perfect peace Such an enjoyable and yet peaceful introduction to the Angus Glens.

Perfect friendly welcome, efficient comfortable accommodation and superb local network of footpaths have made a lasting impression on us. Fabulous scenery and birdsong.

Fabulous cottage in a very idyllic location.

Lovely and clean. Sue & Iain were very welcoming and friendly. Lots of places to visit and some beautiful walks. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for somewhere to relax and let the world go by.

Su and Iain are wonderful hosts with lots of knowledge of super hikes! The personnel touches, human/dog biscuits, fruit and cake was very welcome. Hope to be back soon.

Garden secure for dog. If you want bright lights at you'd be disappointed here. Just big sky's and long ranging views.

Wonderful, cosy and perfect for two, spotless and perfectly placed if you like being out and about.

A lovely warm welcome from the owners, which was added to with the treats for both humans and dogs and fresh flowers in the cottage. The cottage is well equipped with everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The local knowledge and advice from the owners was much appreciated and we would definitely recommend a stay at the Bothy. We have already booked a return trip

It is a beautiful comfortable property, clean and welcoming.

Gifted with biscuits for both dogs & humans was very thoughtful & appreciated. The surrounding garden was well maintained and enjoyed by all. The log fire made the 2 cooler evenings warm and cosy. We met briefly with the owners who were both very nice too.

The Bothy is situated in a really tranquil spot & is very well equipped.

Off Grid really is so nice. Lovely base to explore the Glen with lots of hill walking on the doorstep. Plenty of wildlife to look out for. Within easy distance for exploring Dundee, Perth & St Andrews

The Bothy is such a lovely place to stay.

Sue and Iain are fantastic hosts and really made us feel at home. Clean and organised with everything you need. Lots of nice little touches. Amazing views and pure air. Both, dogs and owners, loved the garden. Ideal place to switch off completely.

The Bothy was an excellent find on Sykes.

We felt settled and comfortable very quickly. The Bothy had pretty much everything we needed. We were very warmly greeted by the owners and it was great to meet them both. Glen Clova was stunning. The view of the hills from The Bothy was amazing. We were chilled and relaxed all the time we were there. We missed that there was no WiFi at The Bothy, but this actually enhanced our holiday and how we were feeling. We learnt some fabulous lessons about re-connecting with each other and we’ll take those lessons home with us. We would recommend The Bothy 100% and would absolutely love to stay there again, maybe for longer than a week.

Magical place.

For dog owners: The garden is secured by a 4/5 foot rabbit proof fence all around. It was enough to contain a curious and very energetic staffy. The rest. Peaceful, tranquil and beautiful. The bothy is small but perfectly formed, and the owners are friendly, knowledgeable of the local area and walks while being intrusive.

Fantastic getaway.

Dog friendly garden. Super friendly hosts. Amazing location. The river burst its banks while we were there leaving some minor roads impassable. Su, the owner, took the time to show us on a map a detailed route home to avoid the flooding. Please note that the flooding is quite rare so don’t be put off by it. Would definitely go again.

This property was perfect for what I was looking for.

Small and compact for myself and dog. All facilities and with the log burner going on a cold Winter’s Evening, lovely. Also an ideal location for numerous high and low level walks around the Glen. A trek over Jock’s Road in the snow was memorable. Iain and Su have immeasurable knowledge and advice about the area, to make sure you enjoy every day.

We had a fantastic week staying at The Bothy.

Su and Iain were lovely and nothing was too much for them. It was beyond doubt the most clean, cosyist, well equipped holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Five stars for views, wildlife and walks. Loved staying there.

The night was lovely it’s off grid so no internet no mobile phone connection which suited us .

Night has everything you could need and the views are to die for su and Ian were great host su has wealth of knowledge for walks and surrounding area

We have recently stayed a week at the Bothy.

It was without a doubt the cleanest and most well equipped cottage we have stayed in. The setting in the snowy mountains was truly magic. There is plenty to do and and beautiful walks in the glenclova valley. The rangers at glendoll are definitely worth a visit! Sue and Iain were both lovely and there if we needed them, offering more firewood etc when we needed it! We will definitely be returning to the Bothy, a cottage we quickly referred to as home :) Thank you for a perfect holiday!

The Bothy was very cosy and surprisingly very spacious and had everything that we could wish for for a get-away-from-it-all holiday - views, wildlife, great walks.

We should have booked it for two weeks! Fortunately there will be more to discover next time we visit!

The pictures of the Bothy on the website made the accommodation appear much smaller than the actual room sizes. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay in Glen Clova.

The cottage is so homely and comfortable, it had everything we needed to make it a relaxing stay.

The area is amazing, there are so many walks we didn’t do!! Sue and Ian were so lovely and friendly, happy to share their knowledge of the area and the dogs thanked them for it, the walks they recommended were beautiful and dog friendly. We explored every day and there was still so much more we could do. We will most definitely be back and explore more, we were sad to leave. The garden is fully enclosed so the dogs loved running around in it and the birds on the table and feeders were amazing l, we did sit and watch them a lot and tick off which ones we had seen. I loved the little extra touches in the cottage and we sat many nights and played cards or board games and we didn’t miss not having signal on our phones once. I would definitely recommend this cottage to people who love exploring and tranquility. Thank you for having us.

Peaceful and beautiful !

The Bothy offers real cosy comfort and being off grid a chance to really enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We really enjoyed challenging ourselves with some walks while nature spotting all the time. Our dog was relaxed from the moment we arrived which proves what a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere Su and Ian have created at the Bothy. They have put care into the detail like the supply of food for the bird feeders which gave us hours of pleasure. My husband loved the log burner and enjoyed making us warm and cozy by lighting it on cooler evenings. Su and Ian were in no way intrusive but still shared their passion for the area with us making some excellent suggestions for our explorations. All in all we had a really wonderful visit and although we had excellent weather it was just the icing on a fab holiday. Returned home relaxed, comfortably exercised and making plans to return.

The Bothy is set in a beautiful glen.

Plenty of things to do in the area from the Mountains in Glen Doll over to the sandy beaches of Lunan and St Cyrus on the coast. The bothy was a cosy place to have a relaxed holiday chilling out and locally walking. The owners were on hand if required and were friendly and helpful with their local knowledge of places to visit depending on what we were interested in. Great accommodation, gorgeous area, friendly owners. Perfect.

We have had holidays in all the big National parks in the uk and the Bothy is one of the best if not the best.

No internet or phone signal makes it even better. Walks right on your door step with great views. The accommodation has everything you need for a relaxing chilled out holiday

A lovely cosy cottage, amazing views, so quiet, very well equipped kitchen, with everything you needed.

Lots of wild life the area is very rural, so if you need to get away from it all, it's the ideal place. There is no internet coverage which suited us, although if you climbed up a small hill behind the bothy you could get a signal . Su the owner of the cottage was lovely, nothing was to much bother, we will definatly will be going back as we have many more hills to climb!

A lovely place to stay.

Owners couldn’t be more helpful. Arrived to cake, fruit, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits for dogs. Cottage well equipped with all you need for a pleasant stay. Lots of information provided for walks and things to do in the event of bad weather. Plenty of games and books. Lovely safe garden for our dog to run around and also gave us access to field ( as no sheep were on there as yet). If you want an ideal, quiet holiday away from it all we highly recommend
