Description

Derry is a characterful ground-floor apartment set within the National Trust for Scotland’s Mar Lodge Estate, nestled in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park and surrounded by rugged Munros, Caledonian pine forests and abundant wildlife.

Offering an accessible base for a family or group of four looking to enjoy a rural getaway to Scotland.

On arrival, pass through hallways rich in character, lined with stag heads and artwork that introduce the setting.

Relish in a quiet evening in the comfort of the open-plan living space, a large and airy room with high ceilings and elegant green hues, making use of the contemporary amenities in the well-appointed kitchen, where a breakfast bar creates a natural spot to gather as meals are prepared, preparing a delicious meal to enjoy at the dining table, with a window seat inviting you to pause and take in views across the surrounding pine forests.

The lounge space sits in front of a large, bright window, boasting more exceptional views of the surrounding countryside, where you can enjoy a glass of wine during a family film night, or settle into the sofa and armchairs arranged beneath a chandelier, enjoying a good book.

This apartment may be suitable for people with some mobility difficulties, with a large bathroom benefiting from a wheelchair-accessible shower, as well as a roll top bath, set within patterned wallpaper and vibrant green walls, with the convenience of a cloakroom also found here.

Retire to one of the spacious bedrooms after a wonderful day of exploring the estate, choosing between a double and a twin, both with period-style décor, ample storage and differing views of the attractive scenery, with the twin room featuring patterned flooring and soft fabric canopies overhead, and the double bedroom centred around a bright and elegant four-poster bed.

Delight in the acres of idyllic Scottish landscape and the fascinating history of Mar Lodge Estate in this remote retreat, where days unfold across woodland, open moor and riverbanks shaped by the River Dee, with opportunities to spot wildlife, follow a range of walking routes or take part in ranger-led National Trust experiences, while each season brings a different perspective, from winter stays and spring visits to summer holidays and the autumn stag rut, and outings can take you to Glenshee and The Lecht, Balmoral and Braemar, Corgarff Castle and the Braemar Highland Games.

Choose Derry as your relaxing base during a memorable stay to Mar Lodge Estate.

Guests can also enjoy access to a shared games room, where a snooker table and stag heads lining the walls create a sociable space to spend time together.

This property can be booked alongside Refs. 1060439, 1060441, 1060444, 1060500, together sleeping up to 31 guests.

Absolutely stunning accomodation that was above and beyond our expectations.

We truly felt like royalty staging in Derry. We wish that we could have stayed longer.

Amazing accommodation on this beautiful property in the Cairngorms.

We should have staid longer. Great basecamp for hiking, fishing, etc. The large comfortable living room allows for relaxing after hiking and each of the bedrooms was sufficiently large and beds were comfortable. All was clean and well prepared before our arrival. We would definitely come again and highly recommend to stay. You should stock up before coming as the Braemar stores are cute but limited in supply ...

Residing in historic Mar Lodge even exceeded our high expectations.

Derry apartment was stunning, with a private hallway lined with stags' heads to beautiful, generously proportioned rooms furnished as the Duke of Fyfe might well have recognised. Scrupulously clean. The office staff were experienced and always most happy to help.
