Description

Beddgelert 0.3 miles.

A charming, detached Beddgelert cottage, set in quiet woodland in an elevated position above the picturesque village of Beddgelert in the Snowdonia National Park. This Beddgelert cottage is affectionately known as Rupert Bear's Cottage in memory of the author and illustrator of the Rupert Bear stories, who lived there from 1956 to 1986. He gained his inspiration from the local countryside and wrote the Rupert Bear stories from here for many years. This secluded Beddgelert cottage has two bedrooms, a sitting/dining room, and a well-equipped kitchen area, both with exposed wooden beams. The gardens and woodland surrounding this Beddgelert holiday home provide peace and tranquillity, yet the cottage is only a 5-minute stroll into the centre of Beddgelert. There are miles of walking tracks around, some starting from outside the door of this Beddgelert cottage. Further afield are the beaches of Porthmadog, Italianate Portmeirion, castles at Caernarfon, Conwy and Harlech and the coastline of the Llyn Peninsula. A fantastic Beddgelert cottage, in a great location at any time of the year.

Our second time at Penlan and it doesn't disappoint.

Wonderful location, comfortable and cosy cottage and a lovely garden. The caretaker is amazing and goes out of her way to make sure things are just right. Looking forward to our next visit.

We are return visitors and will book again I'm certain.

We love the village and the walks from Penlan. If you are looking for a quiet, tucked away spot, it's lovely. (Happy for first part to be published). For the owner only....As returning guests, the slate tiles outside the front are fairly loose now and need securing. It's a shame that the views are more obscured by the blown windows. Cleaning products for washing up would have been useful as unfortunately not all pieces were free of issue on arrival due to previous occupants. The listing mentioned the dvd player which we had made use of in the past, on this visit, it wasn't there.

A lovely quirky cottage with a great backstory about the previous owner together with artefacts relating to him.

Lovely big garden, perfect for our dog. Good location just outside Bedgellert - perfect for us, we found the village too busy - and perfect for the beautiful surrounding countryside.
