Description
Built onto the Town Walls and in the heart of Conwy, North Wales lies Millgate Cottage, a charming two-bedroom end-terrace cottage offering breathtaking views of the City walls.
The convenient location of the property, being close to local shops, pubs, and restaurants. As well as being next door to the Conwy Visitor Centre, where you can source information on attractions, activities and events in the area, makes Millgate Cottage a fantastic base for a fascinating holiday to Wales.
Millgate Cottage has the added advantage of two off road parking spaces adjoining the cottage, for your own use during your stay.
Step inside to be greeted with an open-plan living space offering a homely, cottage feel. Providing a great base for your exploring, you can delight in the classic décor with touches such as the Belfast sink in the kitchen area, amidst a selection of integrated appliances, including a dishwasher and washing machine.
Stairs will lead you up to the first floor which is home to a bright and cheerful twin room, overlooking the twin-towered Mill Gate, one of the gatehouses in the walls of Conwy town.
A cloakroom with a basin and WC lies on this floor too, while up on the second floor you can feel refreshed with a shower in the bathroom, while taking in gorgeous views of the greenery beyond the town walls.
Step out of the bathroom and straight into the second-floor double bedroom area, and make yourself at home.
Down below on the ground floor you can enjoy an evening relaxing in the rear courtyard that backs onto the town walls, complete with chairs and bistro table.
Just a short walk will bring you to the famous Conwy Castle, built between 1283 and 1287, it is wonderfully preserved and offers an insight into medieval military architecture.
Take a peek inside the Smallest House in Great Britain on the harbour front, before tucking into some tasty fish and chips as you watch the boats come and go.
Some fine-dining favourites to visit during your trip include Watson's Bistro on Chapel Street, family-run with French-inspired cuisine, or try Castle Hotel in the town centre, once an early 19th- century coaching inn, it has both a casual gastropub in Dawson's Bar and Snug, or fine-dining in the Shakespeare Restaurant.
Head to the town of Llandudno for a walk up the Little and Great Orme or take a stroll along the Victorian Llandudno Pier to delight in traditional seaside amusements and shops.
Seek further adventure in the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park or relax on the serene beaches on a day out to Anglesey.

What guests are saying
One of the best locations we've had.
The cottage is a 2 minute walk from the train station, next door to the visitor centre, and very short walks from the attractions, sea front, and shops. Having a good parking spot reserved was always a big bonus, too. It smelled clean and fresh. The heating was easy to use. There is a popular pub across the road that serves food & we didnt notice noise from it, though we did hear trains, faintly. The property was clean enou and warm. We are a family of 4, mum, dad, a 12 year old ands a 9 year old. The kids shared the twin room, it has its own loo and sink, and there were no complaints from them. The double room is en-suite. It was comfortable & there was enough storage space. Shower gel and soaps were provided. There is no dressing table or full length mirror. Downstairs felt a little cramped and the tv is TINY & not smart, so whilst we were out all day each day, it still meant the kids tended to retreat to their bedroom rather than having family time all together in the evenings. We streamed stuff on a tablet propped up on a chair. There were a few other things that weren't great: no welcome pack, cleaning materials were left out, there were only 2 dishwasher tablets for a week long stay, no serving trays, no freezer, not enough matching drinking glasses, rather worn lino flooring in the lounge. It made a great base for visiting North Wales & location was top notch, it was value for money, but not a cottage we're likely to return to.
Mill gate cottage is situated right on the castle walls in a fabulous location to the town.
The cottage itself is very cosy with some original features ie: sash window, bare in mind that these are single glazed and you can hear a lot of noise from the road and the early delivery to the pub opposite. The kitchen is well equipped but does need more essentials for oven use. Mill gate is over 3 floors with the main bedroom and shower room on the top floor so people with issues climbing stairs would not be ideal for them. Overall we had a lovely stay and Conway is a beautiful town but the cottage itself needs a little bit of TLC.
Lovely little cottage right in centre of Conwy, lots of details to decor owner was very helpful a made us all feel very welcome, ideal for places to eat out and to visit we had a really lovely time would definitely go back.
