Dovetail Cottage

We have stayed here a few times and love Dovetail Cottage.

This time, we didn’t feel it was quite as clean as in previous visits but this would not stop us from staying here again. Location perfect. Bed comfortable. Great shower. We would love there to be a washing machine! Perfect place for a couple!

A lovely cottage, lovely hosts, close to the town centre, will definitely come back.

We had an amazing time in Llangollen, its a lovely place.

Although we were there for a wedding so didnt get chance to explore. We've decided that we are going to go back next year. We will definatly stay in Dovetail cottage again. It has everything you need and very clean. Its home away from home, its an amazing place to stay. It was really cosy but quite warm even with the windows open. Think we will bring a fan next time. You can park at the back of the cottage if you have a small car as it looks as if it could be difficult to turnround. We parked on the community hall car park on Regent road. Its relatively cheap and if over the road from the passageway to the front door. Entrance to back and front door is via a few steps and the key holder is on the door frame on the back door (took us a while to find it). There is also a pole for the sky light in the bedroom. The only thing I could ask for and it in no way caused an issue with our stay was there was no full length mirror in either bedroom or bath room. It was only and issue because of us going to a wedding. All in all great cosy place to stay, 10 out 10!!!!! Will be back next year. Ps. have a read of the visitors book, it was lovely see people comments and that a lot returned over many years. Loved the little note from a family and their scotty dog including a little drawing. Sadly after many years there was a sad entry when they returned without their dog. While your at the cottage we would recommend visiting the cornmill resturant lovely food and great staff.

Everything we required was available. The provision of milk, tea and coffee was welcome. Ideally located for the town. Parking is tricky but manageable with a small car.

Our third time at this lovely cottage, it’s spacious, well equipped, clean, warm and quiet.

Great restaurants, pubs, cafes ands shops along with some varied walks and friendly locals.

The cottage is lovely.

We have been back every year for some time now. There were some great upgrades to the house since our last stay making it even nicer than before. As ever we had a great time. Awesome place and great hosts.

Characterful little cottage and what a lovely couple who run it.

Sadly on our arrival there was no electricity due to workmen digging the path up but this didn't deter us as we went straight out to eat.It was very warm and cosy with some great quirky features.Mr Edwards took time to tell me all about the history of the cottage and old potteries etc.There was even a pint of milk waiting for us so we could have a cuppa after our long journey up to Llan.Loved Mrs Edwards pots and plants, made it like home for me.

This was a very comfortable cottage and much more spacious than we expected.

The cottage has been improved since the website photos were taken and has a new kitchen, new stable door, new curtains etc. The location was perfect for us being in a fairly quiet spot but very central to the town. We wouldn't hesitate to return.

The cottage was well maintained and comfortable and we were greeted by the friendly owner owner.

It is a stroll to Llangollen and there are also many places of interest nearby. The only downside for me was the awkward road access and small parking space but that maybe says something about my driving.

Great to find a holiday house with a comfortable sofa so you can properly relax at the end of the day.

It’s so welcoming.

The exterior and interior are charming. A lot of hard work has gone into it and it’s payed off. Everything is such good quality. It’s in a perfect location. So easy getting luggage into the property. Parking was no problem and found quite easily. We had glorious weather but if we hadn’t I couldn’t think of a nicer place to be staying if we didn’t I could happily live there.

Our second visit to this lovely cottage.

Clean, comfortable, in a quiet location but near to quaint shops, cafes and pubs. Also a great area for walks by the canal.

We had a lovely, comfortable stay at Dovetail Cottage.

It was close to all the amenities and we would definitely recommend it to others.

It was absolutely perfect, great location, friendly hosts, cute & quaint & very comfortable.

The only thing that might make it a bit easier is if there was some form of clothes storage for the mezzanine floor bedroom. Would definitely go back & recommend to others.

Lovely, comfortable cottage ideally situated, 5 minutes walk to centre of Llangollen , yet set in quiet location in owners grounds.

It would have been helpful to have Wi-Fi code and password written in the visitors guide book rather than having to look at back of router!

! Also to have instructions what to do with the recycling bin rubbish at end of holiday!!

It felt very homely. Well furnished and a well equipped kitchen and an amazingly comfortable bed. Lovely location for accessing the interesting town of Llangollen and surrounding area.

What a beautiful place to stay!

Absolutely stunning cottage and such lovely hosts. We will DEFINITELY stay here again. Beautifully decorated and furnished and extremely cosy and comfortable. A few cobwebs in the main bedroom (but we know that is to be expected in an old property and it certainly has not put us off staying there again).

Absolutely gorgeous cottage and ideally located.

Really warm and snug!!! We couldn't fault anything about the decor and comfort of the cottage and it was immaculately clean. Just a very small observation. Personally, we would have preferred a small slimline dishwasher and not such a large fridge freezer. However, this would not deter us from staying in the cottage in the future. We absolutely loved it.

The cottage was perfect for our long weekend break.

Ideal location, access to the main street via the alley/courtyard. The cottage was spotless with everything you could possibly need inside. The owners even put some fresh milk in the fridge for our arrival. Would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again.

Lovely owners and a lovely property! Super close to food outlets and shops but really quiet tucked away. You'd never know it was there. Will definitely be coming back :-)

Lovely rustic and unusual period property (built in 1760!

) situated very close to the centre of Llangollen but set back in a quiet location. Ideally situated for the nearby steam railway, canal side walks and the Pontcysyllte viaduct etc. Fabulous bathroom and comfortable bed.

Beautiful cosy cottage in the perfect location for exploring Llongollen.

Cottage has been beautifully renovated with lovely decor throughout and was immaculately clean. Gets a big 10 out of 10 from me. The only thing missing was a dishwasher, but hubby came with, so we had that covered!

A beautiful property and I’d happily recommend it.

We couldn’t get the electric fire to turn on at all. The radiator in the lounge on the bedroom wall worked intermittently. A kitchen tap dripped. Plenty of towels available which was great Also, we didn’t realise until the last day that games were available in the lounge cupboard. Might be worth noting something in the welcome book None of these are criticisms. Just giving feedback in case the owner was unaware.

A beautiful cottage, perfectly situated to the town.

Had everything we needed and more from iron/hairdryer to jigsaws/books. Watch out for the slightly lower doorframe to the bedroom, caught my husband out a couple of times. Would definately stay again without question. Excellent property.

As advertised very close to the centre of Llangollen. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Dovetail cottage has everything you need for a family holiday.

All the modern day essentials are provided and the cottage is spotlessly clean. Certainly a 10 out of 10 from us.

Had a lovely 3 night break at Dovetail cottage this week.

Beautiful little hidden gem tucked away in llangollen village. Spotlessly clean & plenty of room. The only negative comment would be that the rocky driveway down to the cottage is very uneven & my small car got stuck on the rocks at one point. If the driveway was levelled out, I would say the whole experience would have been perfect. Nevertheless we had a lovely comfortable stay & will be returning.

Excellent property, really comfortable and central.

The property is beautiful and the mezzanine level is gorgeous. Had a very restful and relaxed time which is exactly what we needed. The only issue is the access to the Parking space which was in need of holes being filled in, it was quite difficult to get down in the car as it is very narrow too. Would definitely recommend to everyone and we hope to return one day soon.

The only issue we had was the difficulty in parking two cars.

Take care that you use Hall Street car park rather than st Catherine’s church!

Lovely, quiet, cosy apartment.

Very convenient for the restaurants, cafes and shops of Llangollen, and a great base for walking in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Only a short taxi/bus ride from Ruabon railway station - so great for a car free holiday.

We had a lovely three nights at Dovetail cottage.

The weather was brilliant and the cottage was very comfortable. The close proximity to the town centre was a distict advantage. The parking is restricted but big enough for my car which is only small. Overall very clean and comfortable, hope to return sometime soon.

Dovetail cottage was absolutely stunning inside very very clean and very warm and cosy.

Great walking area. Wifi in cottage is terrible and tv channels and drive way down to cottage could do with a up grade. Would recommend the cottage.

Perfectly situated in the heart of Llangollen but avoids any noise.

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Dovetail Cottage.

The cottage was lovely and so central for everything in Llangollen. It was clean, comfortable and had everything you'd need. I was also pleased that there was space for my little car at the rear of the cottage! If you had more than one car we noticed that there is parking for £4 a day at the church hall across the road, which would be handy! Lovely pubs in Llangollen (The Corn Mill and Three Eagles were perfect). We also did the Pen y Coed woodland trust walk on a sunny day which was beautiful and only down the road (loads of bluebells). Chirk Castle only a short drive away and well worth the visit!

We had a great weekend break in a lovely cottage that was perfectly situated in the centre of Llangollen.

Facilities in the cottage were perfect and everything that we needed. Very clean and comfortable.

We spent Christmas there and found the cottage beautifully decorated for the holidays.

The Christmas tree was so real looking and a lot of work went into it. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Wish we had stayed longer. Price was great as was location. Very comfortable, clean, just beautiful.

Would return to this area and accommodation.

We were there for a Steampunk Festival so did not get the chance to visit some of the other attractions in the area. The flat is an old stone built property adjacent to the owners home. Really good location for the town. Shops, cafes , restaurants etc all very close by. Was given good instructions on how to find the property although found the lane leading to it a bit scary to negotiate. Steep track with the restricted view when leaving and pulling out onto the road. Although the property sleeps four, and is big enough to accommodate four, the two beds on the mezzanine floor are obviously open and not very private , which some people may find awkward. As there was only two of us this was not a problem. Also the fridge freezer takes up a lot of space and prevents a fourth person sitting at the table. Comfortable bed with nice bedding and a all round nicely furnished property. Some of the furniture has been updated since the photos on Sykes website. Homely feel to the place. Not suitable for anyone with mobility disabilities due to the steps at the front and steep lane at the back. Had a great weekend and would recommend

Lovely cottage in a great location

This property does suffer from woodlice invading into the bathroom, which could be quite off-putting to some visitors.

Each morning I came to take a shower, only to find 2 - 3 alive woodlice in the bottom of the shower cubicle. These would removed humanely using toilet paper, but I suspect they are getting up inside the drain. Parking is also a problem, with very limited space outside the property - it can take two 'supermini' type cars, but would not fit a people carrier or long estate car. Otherwise facilities were very good.

Loved this quirky little cottage .

The location was great , really central. The quality of the workmanship of the renovation and also the furniture , bedding etc was excellent. Didn't really use any of the cooking facilities so.cant really comment on the microwave or oven but everything was there that you could need. Even the settee ( which I thought looked uncomfortable initially ) was actually quite fitting in the room and we both fell asleep on it so no problems there . The cornmill for food was amazing and fouzis cafe was excellent for service coffee and cake :)

The name "Dovetail Cottage" is deceptive it is an "apartment".

More style than substance. Lovely oak furniture but it was just the little things: the kettle didn't reach boiling point to make a decent cup of tea; the settee and armchairs were not comfortable; the tv remote was reluctant to work properly; lovely new bathroom but no shelves to put stuff on, nowhere in the splendid shower to put stuff, no hooks to hang a robe or clothes on. Very convenient location for Llangollen and very central for touring North Wales.

Spent lovely few days over New Year in cottage.

Lovely and cosy. Beautiful bathroom. Llangollen is a nice town surrounded by gorgeous countryside.

EXREMELY COSY, WARM AND WELL EQUIPPED PROPERTY WITHIN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF ALL AMENITIES AND YET VERY QUIET AND PEACEFUL.

A VERY COMFORTABLE STAY. (THE BATHROOM IS GORGEOUS). ONLY NEGATIVE WOULD BE FOR ANYONE WITH MOBILITY PROBLEMS AS THERE ARE STEPS UP TO THE PROPERTY AND ALSO STEPS TO THE BATHROOM.
