  • "Stayed here for a short break over half term holidays."

Great base for exploring the wider North Yorkshire area. Beds were super comfy and house had everything we needed for a great few days away as a family. Would definitely look to stay again if we plan to revisit the area. Thanks!

Thank you so much for your great feedback and I am pleased you like the beds I always think bad beds ruin holidays. I do hope you come and stay again. Thanks again Property Owner

  • "Very comfy beds."

Great shower.secure garden for your dog. Very clean. There are a few essential jobs that need doing. Lounge curtains are definitely needed because the property is on a very busy main road with traffic day and night. The front gutter is broken and when it rains it gets very noisy on the front window. The property is number 60 which makes it easier to find.

Hi Ian thank you for your feedback I wondered why you had marked the property low on facilities and what information is missing from the listing? Please could you message me and let me know. I put the curtains up in the lounge this morning what a carry on that has been! I will get someone to look at the front gutter when the house is empty. I have just ordered a new handle for the bathroom window and I am getting an electrician in to look at all the spots as you can’t just change the bulbs! Thank you for your feedback I am pleased you commented on the comfy beds. We are next door but don’t notice the traffic it is usually very quiet at night. I hope you will stay again and it should state the house number on Sykes website I will ask them to add it. Thanks again Property Owner

  • "Sea’s the day is a lovely property with many of your needs taken care of."

A spacious property in a lovely quiet location, with easy access on foot and via car to Filey and surrounding areas. Spacious driveway and garden with furniture to be able to sit out should you be blessed with the sunshine. There were a few things the property could add to improve such as a dishwasher - the kitchen is a large space and there is ample room, so it was a surprise there wasn’t one installed. Also there was a lack of any plug sockets in one of the bedrooms, which made things a little tricky. But these are minor and wouldn’t put us off rebooking in the future.

Hi thank you so much for your feedback. A dishwasher was on our original refurb plans but didn’t turn up so was delaying us making the house available but I do love one myself on holiday so may look at this as a future option. I presume you mean the small bedroom I will look at putting an extension lead in here with 4 sockets on from behind the bed. Thanks again Property Owner

  • "We were disappointed as although there was a note apologising for no curtains in the lounge we felt very uncomfortable, being on a main road at front of house."

We could not put lights on as every passer bby could look in. The adjoining neighbours we doing large scale renovations. Hammering , sawing drilling from around 9 am to some night 8pm. Because of the noise we could not stay around house during day. A warning of this would have changed our mind on booking. The full skip and piles of rubble would have warned owners.

Hi, we have had a nightmare with the curtains they should have arrived at the beginning of August from Dunelm. They had to be specially made as they are 120 inch drop and now they have admitted they are lost and they have reordered them. The high hedge at the front is over 10 foot tall so we felt it would be difficult to see in the windows but I appreciate your comments. We waited to let the property until the neighbours had finished the extension next door so I apologise for any noise, the skip is because they are replacing the front wall near the road. Hopefully you will visit us again the curtains will be up shortly and next door’s wall will also be finished. Steph Property Owner

FILEY

Scarborough 7.7 miles; Bridlington 10.5 miles.

Set in the magnificent Filey Bay, Filey is a traditional English seaside resort with a friendly atmosphere, offering a restful holiday, making it an ideal place to stay for walkers and wildlife watchers at any time of the year. Filey Brigg is a low headland that protects Filey Bay and provides good bird watching and seawatching opportunities all year round. The 400 ft high Bempton Cliffs (RSPB Reserve) to the south of Filey Bay are home to over 250,000 seabirds in the summer. The town itself seems almost caught in a time warp, retaining much of its character with individual shops, narrow paths and ginnels and there is a slipway where local fishermen keep their boats, plus delightful beach chalets that can be hired through the summer months. The bay is edged with two promenades and there are various gardens, where brass bands play on a Sunday afternoon. This small town is family orientated and there are loads of family activities such as Alpamare UK waterpark, Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park and the Filey Dams Nature Reserve, a wetland reserve where all kinds of common and rare birdlife can be seen. A short drive brings you to the busier town of Scarborough where you will find great beaches, a castle, the Rotunda Museum and the acclaimed Sea Life Centre. Other towns worth visiting close to Filey include Bridlington, Whitby, Hornsea and Saltburn, which all demonstrate the vibrancy of this picturesque North Yorkshire region.
