  • "Fabulous cottage, perfect for the three of us and the dogs."

We particularly liked the upstairs lounge where the sun streamed through the skylights in the late afternoon. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean throughout. Lots of walks straight from the door. We would definitely recommend the cafe at the Dudley Arms, a 15 minute walk from the cottage on good footpaths.

Thank you for the lovely feedback. We hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "Very much enjoyed our stay at Horseshoe cottage."

Friendly welcome, including access to the tack room for cycle storage, and a handy welcome pack. Loved the various wood turnings around the cottage, although managed to resist purchasing any.... Always enjoy an upstairs sitting room, glad there were also comfy chairs by the entrance area for when you first come in. And lovely large dining table. Nice to have the extra loo upstairs, and separate shower room, even for just 2 of us. Would have appreciated some form of clothes storage nearer the double bed, although appreciate not easy fitting it into the available space, already used creatively.

  • "Neighbours were really friendly and helpful."

Several little improvements could be made . Upstairs bedroom needs a chest of drawers as there is no fascility to store clothing. The ground floor bedroom needs a bedside cabinet between the beds with a lamp as the only light switch is by the door. Thats it, a lovely place. Thank you.

Thank you for the nice comments and appreciate the feedback which we will certainly look into. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week at the cottage."

It is perfectly placed for exploring the Moors and the owners were very friendly and helpful. The welcome pack was a nice touch and if we needed any local advice they were more than happy to help. The view and the farm animals were a lovely sight to wake up to every day. Would recommend it as nice small cottage suitable for 4 comfortably.

Lots of beautiful walks from the door, local pub (Dudley Arms) is great and Sunday breakfast was excellent. Stokesley is a lovely town with great local shops, restaurants and pubs. Seasides not too far away. I couldn't have been happier with my choice of holiday cottage, loved it here.

  • "Lovely character cottage, set next to a farmyard, we took two dogs and whilst inside the cottage was very pet friendly the outside there was no real garden or anywhere close to let them off their leads safely, this did not spoil our holiday at all however as weather held and lots of sun."

Welcome pack with Easter cake was a nice treat thank you, cottage had everything you would need for a stay as well equipped. If we were going to this area again we would certainly book this cottage again

GREAT AYTON

Stokesley 3 miles; Guisborough 7 miles; Middlesbrough 8 miles.

The attractive village of Great Ayton lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, at the foot of the Cleveland Hills. Great Ayton is famous for being the boyhood home of Captain Cook, and is also mentioned in the Domesday Book. The village consists of a mixture of pretty stone cottages and some new development housing. Great Ayton has two village greens, with a river running alongside, making it a popular picnic spot in the summer months. To the north of the village, the view is dominated by Roseberry Topping, a 330-metre hill. In the village are a good range of shops and inns, which, together with restaurants and cafes, cater well for holidaymakers. There is also the old school, now converted into the Captain Cook Schoolroom Museum. Around the village are several interesting walks, and Great Ayton makes a great base for walkers wishing to explore the stunning countryside. A good base for market towns, the lovely countryside and, just a short drive, the East Coast.
